I watched some YouTube vids and it looks ok but worried I’d miss any faults like you say. Northwind – do I remember that you service forks for money? Apologies if I got that wrong (:

added 120 in positive and negative chambers and the spring feels about right. The forks seems as rough as badgers bottom though so think it’s time for a service. LBS sends forks off so might as well do that bit myself.

What will me burping do to help? That’ll just annoy my family 🙂

To be honest I last set these up 6 months ago and they have been very tidy up to now (they are over a year old). Pretty sure that I put ~100 psi in both +ve and -ve chambers when I set them up so you might have a point. How can air get betwixt the two chambers? Is it a known fault?

Going to have a mess about with them now….

I love the flat so don’t want out – will start with projects 6 point plan.

    fair point

my main grumble is with the “improvements” why add a stair lift when there is an elevator? The flats have been there for 40 years without a stairlift why do we need one now? Why make an entrance hall bigger?

oh and one of the things to consider is what surface you will use. We went for grass underneath but it’s a pita to mow around it – i’d probably use some sleepers and bark chips to make a play area if I did it again

we went for one of these which are pretty good as you can mix and match modules to make up what you want

    action climbing frames

we spent a lot on it but the kids get loads of use out of it and i’ve banned trampolines so felt guilted into spending the $

trouble is the residents committee is a bunch of old fogies who run it like a closed shop and elect each other to the committee – i reckon I’d never get elected as i’d say about 20% of the residents are under 60 and only 10% under 40 (me)

DH bike – adrenalin hit, fun
trail bike – fun, cover good distance off road
road bike – cover good distance on road, fun

    common theme: fun

    thanks

I did have a google but couldn’t really see a clear way forward – one option seemed to be a leaseholder valuation tribunal but that seems to cost £300+

Good point about the caretaker, I knew it would add to the charge but didn’t really think how much. If the caretaker costs £30k per year, that would amount to ~£60 per flat per month.

as far as I can see an equivalent service charge on other developments is ~£120. Add £60 for the caretaker and we get near the £200 pcm we currently pay.

I’m still a bit peeved how I am having to pay for a lift i’ve never seen or communal areas I will never use (because we have our own front door outside the communal area).

    go with the flow

people who deviate from the general flow of the traffic, too fast or too slow, are the ones that generally trigger accidents, imo

Hob Nob – Cheers for the info about the dampers

OW – i’d go for a large at 6ft with a stubby stem to speed up the steering

Even at £1800 for the Bikescene frames, it seems a lot for a Specialized frame. If it was a Santa Cruz or some fancy boutique frame I could understand but in my head a Specialized shouldn’t cost nearly that much. Maybe I’ve just lost touch with the price of stuff. My Stumpy FSR carbon bike cost me £2800 new in 2012

Not saying there is anything wrong with Spesh – I think they make awesome bikes but I’d thought with mass market status they’d make them a bit cheaper / better specced.

Was very keen on this bike but I really don’t like how Spesh specced Pike RC rather than RCT3 on the Carbon model. That feels a bit tight given it’s a very expensive bike.

Apparently the RCT3 is a significantly better fork. Do you think it would be better to try and build one up from a frame and pick the exact components I want?
