crank cycles in Alton have recently become dealers – the new range look lush and the guys in the shop really rate them (buying them as their own personal bikes)

T-Mobile Germany and EE have successfully completed LTE-A trials with maximum achieved of ~300Mbps down to mobile dongles. The limiting factor in rural locations will be proximity to a suitable base station and in urban locations, cell contention.

But still pretty amazing that radio waves will soon be able to deliver the kind of downlink speed that it takes fibre to deliver currently.

Actually it’s a bit daft – what does any one person need a 300Mbps downlink connection for?

yeah buy on best fit – if two or 3 fit similar go for best design & safety credentials (DOT, SNELL certified etc)

Not all manufacturers pay for all the various accreditations / tests to be done but if they have paid / passed it is probably a good sign.

I missed the bit where you said you had already varnished it

    mega

    nice job

    oil every time mate

You would not have been able to do that sand back so easily if it had been varnish. Plus if you use the same brand of oil as was originally applied you only have to re-oil the sanded area to achieve an even finish.

Just sanded and re-oiled our worktops after 5 years of scratches and knocks and they look smart as new again.

Canada, spain, Germany, Australia, new zeland…do you want some more or will you at least concede that point is wrong?

Apparently – Germany have them as part of the NATO weapons sharing deal

You make a good point though – surprised how few states have Nukes
    who has nukes?

Hint – Israel is the little yellow dot on the map

I remember one of the Middle Eastern news agencies running a story on this boy (one of many affected civilians from the bombing of Baghdad) with the headline ‘now Iraq is disarmed’

    Ali’s story

Blair and Bush have so much to answer for – it makes me sick to the stomach thinking of the consequences of what they did. Lord knows how it makes the innocent people feel whose lives and families have been wrecked by the war and following instability.

    Blair is a war criminal.
Even now, Britain and US should be ashamed for walking away from the country in the state it’s in.

genuine question – if I want to use a small length of footpath while on a ride presumably I can just get off and wheel bike along it? If someone challenged me when riding said footpath I could get off and continue on foot no?

just resanded ours after 2-3 years – originally had used Morrells danish oil which was great – needed topping up once every 6 months.

Couldn’t find morrells this time so got some rustins danish oil from tool station which seems fine. A bit thinner perhaps. If I could find Morrells i’d probably use that

Water drops bead on the surface after treatment with either oil and did so even after 8 months

Just looked at that 3.5mm veneer worktop on their site. How do you rate it?

I did it on my 2008 24″ iMac. Used the SSD as a boot drive and for stuff I wanted fast disk access to (applications and some videos mainly). Kept the mechanical disk in the chassis and used that to store downloads, documents and ‘stuff’

You can set it all up with symbolic links in such a way that OS X doesn’t really feel any different to single disk setup.

In terms of performance it was fine for my needs.

I eventually sold that iMac without the SSD for £500 and bought a second hand 27″2012 iMac i7 which now has the SSD installed. The 27″ cost me an extra £600 on top of what I sold the 24″ for and to be honest it wasn’t really worth the upgrade – there was nothing wrong with the 2008 24″ c2 duo

The hardware / screwdrivery bit is fine if you take a bit of time and follow the youtube or ifixit guides.

I see apple have something called a ‘fusion drive’ now supported from OSX 10.8.2. It’s basically an HDD joined with an SSD at HW level. OS X sees only a single disk as opposed to 2x disks with the SSD_HDD setup.

The advantage of this setup is that OS X sees it as a single drive and has clever code that will automatically move objects that could benefit from performance into the SSD part of the drive and archives stuff that is not used regularly to the HDD part of the drive. (In my current setup I have hard coded OS X, apps and some videos to the SDD with fusion drive OS X would sort it all out for me a fusion drive would be more flexible and possibly more performant)

There are some guides as to how to DIY one.

    DIY fusion drive

    hope this helps

I give my balls a gentle mist spray once in a while when using the laptop

They get really dehydrated and I find the D20 and organic compounds in this leave my balls feeling refreshed and looking their best.

Am overpaying our (to us!) large mortgage while watching friends get caught up in the property ‘race’. In the last 6 months I’ve seen 4 families we know move up to larger / more expensive houses with eye watering mortgages which are really squeezing them.

Round our way there has been a real flurry of housing market activity. With the current low interest rates you can’t help but think a lot of people will be exposed when interest rates start to climb again.

I made a decision a while ago that our mortgage would never be bigger than it is today and am on track to get it payed off by the time I’m 45. This means falling behind ‘The Jonses’ today but hopefully a more comfortable life later. (Unless I get knocked down by an Antelope or something 🙂 )
