Wasn’t it the Ti-Mega that had such a floppy rear end that the chain would come off every time you put the power down?

    I still wanted one though.

I think so… there’s an iPad on an arm next to it for the endless Zoom calls and then she works on a mixture of the monitor and laptop. Cannot get her to use a proper keyboard and mouse.

A quick shot of MrsBond’s office… I think it’s fair to say that more time was spent on choosing the soft furnishings than any other elements…

A discrepancy due to the PM being single sided? When you’re flat out maybe you’re relying more on one leg than the other?

More likely to be something with the really short measurement duration though.

I’m just about to jump on the turbo so I might try something similar.

If there number of random letters we’ve received when we moved is anything to go by, there’s some sort of stamp duty avoidance swerve you can do if you have a genuine, self contained second property as part of the purchase.

6 days in and 6 days exercising… that’s probably the same as most of Q4 last year so this is so needed. A couple of runs, a couple of sessions on the rowing machine and a couple on the turbo trainer.
Unfortunately it’s been so long since I’ve used the turbo properly all my numbers are out so I’ll need to do another ftp test… an hour of pure pain.
Really motivated to keep this up though.

    I’m in.
After a totally motivation-lacking 2020 I weighed myself just now and am heavier than at any time in the last decade.
Also planning to exercise every day and see if I can create some positive habits rather than the apathy and boozing of the last year.

We’re midway through a kitchen refit and extension… Kitchen was ripped out on the 14th Oct, 4 weeks to strip it back to the walls, infill the bits of parquet floor that will be on show, plumbing, electrical, plastering and painting. The new kitchen arrived Monday and we’ve allowed for 3 weeks to fit that and a week to finish up so all in all, 2 months. It’s taken longer than it could have as it’s part of a bigger project and we’ve needed to sequence it alongside other structural stuff.

We’re lucky that there’s a utility room with sink that we’ve been able to use as a makeshift kitchen. Portable induction hob from Amazon and a cheap microwave and we’ve been ok… although in lockdown we’ve been supporting the local pubs with their takeaway services more than usual.

The best advice I was given was that it’s always just a phase…
If you’re struggling and don’t think you can cope, then things will get better, they’ll grow out of whatever it is that’s drive you insane. However, if you ever think that you’ve got parenting nailed then the little bugger will change it up and you’ll have to adapt all over again.
Oh, and they really don’t stay small for very long. Enjoy it.

I’ve never been able to find a short sleeved trisuit that fits particularly well so I tend to use separates. I don’t think it makes a whole lot of difference, but +1 on practicing the transition. On the first try I did, a mate spent 8 minutes in T1 struggling a) to find his bike b) to get his wetsuit off and c) to find the way out… think about how much training it would take to knock 6 or 7 minutes off your moving time!

Buy yourself Go Snowboard (book & DVD) off Amazon. Best £7 you’ll spend.

I was taught to ride by the guy who wrote that… really worth checking out as he also wrote the BASI (and I think CASI) instructors manual and the approach really works.

I think he focuses more on splitboarding and real back country adventures now but if you get a chance to go on any of his camps then they are truly epic.

Missusbond lost hers a month or so back with holiday looming at the beginning of August… sent in the forms etc all correctly authorised and notarised on the 29th June. New (blue) passport received yesterday so despite the warnings and lack of priority applications they still seem to working pretty efficiently.

The jetty needs a little work.

I got an email saying that the current owners are leaving the rowing boat… I’m rather hoping he has another one I haven’t seen.

We’re moving into a new place tomorrow and it comes with a series of natural ponds / lakes… the fields drain into a stream which fills the top lake. Once that’s full apparently you open the sluice gate into the lower one.
Looking forward to seeing what critters we get in them…

I’ve got them on both of my bikes and I don’t think both Reverbs have ever been working properly at the same time.
I decide which bike to ride by which one has the working Reverb. Fed up bleeding, servicing etc so will be replacing them with Brand X.

I went to school with Guthrie and he was pretty special even back then…
Spent a lot of my teens listening to the shredders of the day… Vai, Satriani, EVH, Steve Morse, Jason Becker, Marty Friedman etc etc.
I always think I appreciated them rather enjoyed them. Some of Vai’s stuff is very listenable… Sisters for example, but in the main it’s a little too self-indulgent for me now.

For me, the perfect guitar solo is probably the 17 seconds in the middle of Kid by the Pretenders. Nothing fancy just perfect tone, phrasing and fit…

Bernard Butler and John Squier are two others that stand out.

If you do like experimental shreddy types then I’d suggest having a listen to Plini… very much in the Vai vein but interesting enough to give a go.

I doubt your answer will be bluetooth… as a rule it’s horrible for latency.

Maybe check out the various wireless monitoring systems available – presumably the systems used on stage will be at a sub 10ms level?

    This sort of thing perhaps?

    Currently waiting for this:

    Axis

And a tin of blue spray paint for the Tamiya RC Car me and the boy are currently building.

We actually had a ‘We tried to deliver but you were out’ type card from DPD yesterday. Considering I was sat no more than 5m from the front door I was impressed with their laziness.

At least in part due to this thread we’ve now got one of these winging its way to us…

    Plasma Edge 2

The controller, servo, battery, charger and a selection of proper bearings arrived this morning.

Should be a lot of fun to build with Junior.

I had 33m of 33.7mm steel tubing arrive yesterday with a load of right angle and three way interclamps.

Once the net and baffle arrive and I’ve worked out how to get it over a 3m high scaffolding cube I’ll have myself a golf driving net.

    Cannot wait!

I don’t have any details to hand but I remember buying a POC short sleeve road jersey and it coming up very small – same with Pas Normal and Chpt III…
I’m about 85kg and 5’10 and would probably go XL in POC

I can’t actually think of any situation where I need to know the time so quickly that I can’t just look at a phone / clock etc. In fact, I rarely need to know the time to any level of accuracy at all. I quite often leave my phone on a table and don’t even have that with me. If I have a meeting, the Outlook pops up and tells me, other than that I don’t really care what the time is.

In fairness, the irony of owning a lot of expensive watches, none of which actually do their primary job as well as a £10 Casio isn’t lost on me. I’m not sure wearing a nice watch is actually about knowing what the time is…

Goodness knows how many I have in total if you include all the fitness watches, G-Shocks etc but in terms of ‘enthusiast’ watches I’ve got
    – AP Royal Oak
    – Parmigiani Fleurier Tondo
    – Rolex Sea Dweller
    – IWC Portofino Chrono
    – Omega SMP
    – Panerai 299
    – JLC Master Compressor
    – Seiko Orange Monster

Currently wearing an Apple Watch like I have done for months.

I never though I would see the day that Mr West Ham would need replacing but we are definitely there. I’m hearing we have a decent budget for the summer window.

He’ll still do a job and run himself into the ground… unfortunately that now happens after an hour rather than 90 mins. We looked a lot better when he was replaced by Nasri yesterday.

We won, but we played atrociously. Some moments of magic but with the team we have we shouldn’t be 3-1 down to Huddersfield!

This ‘fine run of home form’ is covering up some pretty poor performances. We tried to gift Fulham a 3 goal lead before starting to play and even then we weren’t great – Fulham looked completely toothless. More of the same when Newcastle visited. Thankfully I didn’t go to Palace, Cardiff or Wolves.

As for Huddersfield, as exciting as it was and we must have had 80% possession, we scored from 4 set pieces (I think)… the last goal from open play I remember was Rice’s goal against Arsenal in January.

3 new strikers, a backup right back and a replacement for Noble in the middle needed in the summer.

I’d concur with the above – we’ve had ours about 3/4 years now and other than a replacement filter (at about £90 from memory) it has been faultless. First thing on the list when we redo the kitchen.

A couple more that I don’t think have been mentioned:

    – That Peter Crouch Podcast – genuinely laugh out loud funny perspective on football
    – Last Podcast on the Left – very funny and frequently offensive podcast on the supernatural, serial killers, cults and the unexplained… in fact there are quite a few podcast on the Last Podcast network that are worth a listen
    – The Bugle – Andy Zaltzman lies about about the news this week (it was better with John Oliver when he was on it before he got famous, but I have a bit of a thing for Alice Fraser who’s a regular contributor so it keeps me happy)

[edit – ok, so the post literally one above this mentioned the Bugle but it’s still worth a listen]

I’ve had eTap on my road and TT bikes for a few years and they’ve been faultless – the batteries last ages and you get plenty of warning before they run out.

I’d love it on my mountain bike – two less cables to worry about and (probably) faultless shifting but I’d be waiting for the day my rear mech took a hit and I was left with a £400 bill for a new one.

One day maybe. Although the Road eTap groupsets were around for a good time before discounts started appearing. Easily a year / 18 months after launch before anything more than 5/10% off was possible.

We’ve had an Evoque (15 plate) from new and it’s been faultless. It’s done about 50k in that time and other than routine services it’s never been back to Land Rover.

That said, it is rather style over substance. It’s not very big inside, boot is tiny and the performance is nothing to write home about but if you like them (as my wife does) then why not? As mentioned, there is a new one coming out soon which carries over a few of design elements from the Velar so I’m sure there would be some deals to be done on old models.

Football fans always assume that players want to test themselves in the ‘best league’, when in reality most players are driven by cash

As a West Ham fan whose main striker apparently wants to go to China ‘to win trophies’, I’d say the quote above was pretty much spot on.
There are exceptions who do actually seem to care about the club they’re playing for, but with 15 year max career at the top level I don’t think I can blame them for chasing as much cash as possible when the opportunities arise.

I remember when Mr Booth retired and someone scratched his new car. He stood up in assembly and offered a reward for any information. No idea if it was deliberate or not but I genuinely think he would have killed the person responsible if he’d ever found them.

Just got back from a week in Alpe d’Huez… blue skies and fantastic weather but no fresh snow in weeks and the pistes are getting very hard as a result. No point venturing further afield at all.

Even so, a lovely week topped off with my 7 year old getting his 2* and the youngest having his first week on planks and declaring that ‘skiing is awesome!’

I’ve got another week in Val d’Isere at Easter and hopefully a boy’s long weekend to get some more days in.

Rough costs – £150 – 250 depending on what you have done… cleats, custom footbeds etc etc.

What you have to remember is that Retul, Guru, the Shimano one or a bloke with a Goniometer, they’re all just measuring tools and totally dependent on the guy fitting you to interpret the data.  Retul in particular do give some suggested angles you should aim for – however it’s the skill of the fitter to know when to apply them and when not to.

The fit bike isn’t dependent on the system used, although both Retul and Guru have their own… the new Guru bike is really cool as all the contact points are motorised so the fitter can change positions from the app while the client’s still pedaling.

The fitter should really do a few exercises and stretches off the bike first to see how flexible you are / check for any imbalances etc. so that should all be considered during the fit.
