no one else seems interested, just us two! I like the way he’s doing it in 70’s gear as well, although he did mention the Sergio Tacchini shorts were chafing a bit!

Edit: Actually mods, you can delete my thread as this one has a recent reply it’ll stay nearer the top!

i have this when i swap wheels on the road bike.

I guess there may be a way round it as the pro teams seem to manage ok when they puncture and have to put a new wheel in, or maybe they do a quick bit of adjustment on the road with an inline cable adjuster? (which is what i do when i swap wheels, but still a slight hassle)

actually thinking about it i also have view ranger on my phone (from before i discovered Backcountry navigator), and i have National Parks maps. I think i might be able to add the iPad as another device and use my already purchased maps.

Trees and shrubs, think I’d want to water them in a bit wider diameter than a dripper, as the roots will spread out over a larger area. Micro sprinklers are probably best, you can get adjustable flow ones. I think the drippers are more suited to pots and sprayers to flower beds.

If you have long runs and use sprinklers you might need to use the larger diameter pipe then tee off with 4mm every so often. I know the drippers don’t seem to suffer from being on long chains but think the sprinklers might.

Have a look on hozelok site it will probably tell you

I’ve got an LTc and have had a brief go on a Bronson.

Bronson felt a bigger bike, less manoeuvreable, but big wheels did roll nicely over bigger rocks.

Hard to say if I’d get one as I only had a short ride on it. For the rocky lakes stuff I ride, I don’t think I’d swap the LTc as it didn’t feel that much better to justify the cost!

Maybe if I was buying now and didn’t have an LTc I’d seriously consider one, but that would probably because most stuff now has gone to that wheel size.

So I’m probably saying, based on my brief test – if you enjoy your LTc now, just stick with that.

Had one of these set up in my greenhouse and the outside pots. Get a timer for it, they aren’t much then you can just set it to come on for an hour in the morning and evening.

If you find some plants are getting too much and others too little there’s all sorts of types of micro sprinklers and sprayers you can use instead of drippers.

In a very sad geeky way I found it quite satisfying when I had it all neatly set up with its various drippers, sprinklers and misters. The wife didn’t appreciate it’s intricacies though, baby meeeee however loved getting sprayed as she crawled round the pots on a hot summer day.

wassock73 – have you got a rough grid ref where that longer tunnel to exit the quarry comes out?

Ive been in the cavern and main quarry quite a lot but never gone through the other exit tunnel.

my 12 year old tdi golf does that too …. Suspect the alternator/starter
motor but then mines done 226k !!

Crank speed so unlikely to be the glow plugs ….

It’s in the garage later this week for “tests”

post back on here when yours has been to the docs!

molgrips – yeah the speed it turns the engine over when you try and start it. So i think speed of cranking might be the proper term.

If its glow plugs wouldnt that just make it turn over and over and over before starting? This is starting after only a few cranks its just the starter motor sounds like its really struggling, but this is only on the first start in the morning, and if i immediately stop it then restart it works fine, ie cranks the engine at a normal speed.

Thinking back, theres also been a couple of occasions where the starter turns then stops (without starting engine) and you think battery is completely dead, but then turn ignition off and on, and it cranks over perfectly fine then starts.

glow plugs never been changed but the light goes out pretty quickly even on cold mornings.

    I’ll check the battery connections.

dead easy to fix that, will be available on NHS for free as he’s under 18. Its just a composite (ie tooth coloured filling) build up. They can occasionally fracture off if you bite fingernails or chew on pen tops like some people do. A fracture like that shouldnt need a crown, but if the filling didnt work (ie failed several times) then they might consider a crown or veneer when he’s a bit older. Would still be available on NHS though.

Just ring your dentist monday morning.

Where are you based? If you dont have a dentist and are in the Lakes PM me and i’ll sort it out for you.

it will be approved by the company needing it, i just need to give the potential employers details to the CRB company. Unfortunately the one they reccommended is taking ages to even get started, so just looking for others.

as above, i just use an oil radiator with a thermostat, and a plug in timer to make it come on about an hour after heating goes off, then off again just before CH comes on.

If you want something a bit fancier then i was considering this:

    plug in thermostat / timer

You can wall mount the thermostat and its a wireless connection to whatever heater you want to plug in to the socket.

They do a few different variations just search ‘celect’ on amazon

yeah i dont understand where they get all that energy from and ours needs very little sleep!

Had been running round all day yesterday with no nap, didnt go to sleep until 10, then wide awake happy as anything at 6am this morning. Whereas me, wake up at 6 knackered, sit on my arse at work all day and i’d happily fall asleep at 9pm! I think somehow she’s tapping into my energy and sucking it dry!

Somehow need to motivate myself to go on bike tonight but its not looking good. I’m checking the weather half hoping for rain….

Edit – obviously i have the luxury of lots of sleep compared to OP, but still cant work out how toddlers are so active

jimw – they arent doing upgrades to your existing lights anymore, but they now have a loyalty discount for existing customers on all the new kit so its about £45 instead of £65 for a new 40% extra power light head.

yeah i know i could leave it on. Weights not the issues – got a nice swoopy sleek new helmet with lots of vents and thought would be nice to have a mount i can quickly remove for the road, instead of having that odd bit of rubber sticking up like it does with my current ayup mount!

    cheers Spooky,

just checked our manhole and it was full, the pipe to the tank was blocked with something (must have been the wifes monster dump), have got it cleared now, and have taped over my vent holes and everything working as normal.

Septic tank looks like it could do with pumping out though. Is it normal to have a thick layer of sludge on top of the liquid (in the first tank)? It was emptied when we moved in a couple of years ago. Second tank looks ok.

    fixed it! thanks guys!

it was just a plain blanking plate on the top, not an aav so I just drilled 3 small holes in it to allow air in. All works ok now.

If I get any smells coming up through the holes I’ll fit a proper aav.

Wife thinks i’m a diy genius now and its all thanks to the power of singletrackworld!

why has it just started happening though? could it be anything to do with the wind and heavy rain? some of our gutters do drain into the same drain.

So if I take the cap off the soil stack it should fix it?

Just thought, maybe it has a one way valve on the stack and its got blocked… off to google what they look like now

Get a bottle of Star San, it’s a US product but a few online uk homebrew shops have it.

It’s a no rinse steriliser, just mix it up in a spray bottle, spray, leave a couple of mins then away you go.

A bottle lasts ages as well as you only need 1.5ml per litre of water. (If you live in a hard water area use some cheapo softer bottled water from tesco or somewhere). Have a search on some of the homebrew forums e.g. thehomebrewforum or jimsbeerkit forum for more advice.

I swapped to it when I started brewing again a few months ago and its a revelation compared to traditional stuff like Milton or chempro solutions.

I think the boiler protection stat only cuts in to protect the boiler, so will only fire long enough to warm up the heat exchanger and pipework fairly close to the boiler.

I’d leave the boiler on a timed program with all rads on frost setting, and room stat turned down as well if you have one.

a different problem you may encounter, depending on your house, is damp. Open all wardrobes and cupboards and leave room doors open. If you have a house prone to damp or condensation maybe invest in a dehumidifier – dessicant types are best for lower temperatures which is what you’ll have if heating is only on frost setting. And you’ll need one that can you can run a hose from so you don’t need to empty the water container. Stick it on a kitchen workshop or table and run hose into sink.

I’d forget espresso at first and start with a few less heavy roasts in a cafetiere / filter machine, or something like an all day, or house blend from a good coffee supplier. If there’s a booths supermarket in your area they do some nice ones, their all day blend is really nice.

and avoid americanos unless you like strong bitter coffee.

I do enjoy a nice espresso but I think there’s a lot of snobbery and willy waving about espresso machines and espresso in general as if its the be all and end all of coffee. There’s a lot more ways to enjoy coffee than a tiny cup of the strong black stuff.

bear in mind cheap insurers may not cover you at all.

I’ve never been flooded but am within 100m of a lake, and even though I’m about 30m vertically higher than the lake some companies won’t cover me!
