Just book a family week in Somerset and do a tour of the small cider farms 😂

If you like still cider from a proper farm like me then try Hecks or Wilkins in Somerset, both have websites. It might come in plastic screen wash style bottles bit it’s great stuff! I used to be a bottled cider drinker from the bige brands, but now much prefer the local farm stuff.

How do those plug in RCD sockets work then, if I have one of those on the end off say abjetwasher and it trips or impress test then it doesn’t trip the rest of the house?

It’s England so sounds like should be ok then.

The extra RCD bit was to try prevent it tripping the downstairs ring main (which has fridge freezer on it) if there’s a fault aith anything plugged into the outdoor socket (pond filter so running all the time) It should just trip the RCD fused spur. Although I am aware that sometimes the ring main circuit can still trip depending on sensitivity of the breakers.

Wet or sweaty hands make it sooo much better!

Just found the instructions for it online, although a very hard to read copy

Yeah I think it did buzz a bit when it was working and I’m sure I remember seeing tiny sparks at the tip of that wheel, so the strip vibrating makes sense.

No click when I connect the battery, I’ll try and hook it up to an old model railway transformer set at 4v

Ha haven’t done the battery on the tongue for ages, I’ll have to go find a 9v one!

I’ve only got about 8 ohms if I test between the “handle” contacts, would this mean the coil is knackered?

I might have missed this so sorry if it was posted above, but if you only want audible books now and again, or just a few specific books then sign up, get a book a month on the monthly credit thing, then you can cancel the subscription but you still get to keep and listen to any of the books you bought either as cash purchases, or with subscription credits even though you aren’t an active member.

I’m still listening to books I purchased about 6 years ago and haven’t really had active membership for the last 4 years apart from the odd month when I maybe want a new book, then I just cancel again.

And also remember if you get a book and it’s crap, eg you don’t like the narrator, too short, any reason you can return it and get the credit refunded

    EDIT
To answer the original question, Hmm maybe I’m the reason audible is so expensive!! Although I was actually saying it’s not expensive really if you do the subscription method (which is cheaper than purchasing as a one off) and can keep the books forever even when you aren’t a member..probably similar cost to buying a book in a shop

Socket is just for a camera screen, it’s got a 12v plug on the end and I think some electronics in the plug so dont want to chop that off. New socket is going to be hidden under the dash by and taped up with the plug on the camera so it won’t come apart easily. Piggyback holder has 2 fuse slots for the original circuit and for the new one. I was just going to stick a 3 amp fuse in for the piggyback circuit. Might even have some 1.5a ones I can use

I decided to get one with cable included, and also the mercedes fitting kit linked above so hopefully should be all ok to wire straight in when it arrives!

Ok been looking on eBay and I’m a bit confused!

I’ve seen some units on eBay they come with cables and some don’t.

Of I get the sprinter wiring harness mentioned above, does this plug directly into the back of the head unit, then into my wiring loom, or do I need the original cable that come with the unit as well?

Just some are listed on eBay with cables and some say no cables included!

    Thanks

It’s a 2003 mercedes sprinter. Does the fasia panel just tidy it up or does that actually hold it in place…. Im not bothered about how it looks really, the cab is a bit of a mess anyway!

Those Tenda MW3 things, are they ok for standard home broadband or should I look at something faster for future proofing?

Plusnet says my current deal is 38-40Mb download speed but I can upgrade to 71-72 max. Those Tenda things go up to 100 so should be fine? I have one computer that doesn’t have a WiFi card and is cabled in via a ppwerline adapter, no idea if the port on the Tenda is fast enough for that but should be at least equal to my 7yr old Plusnet router? Or do I just plug the powerline adapter into my existing router still?

    Thanks!

Check the feet make sure there’s no bits of grit stuck in the plastic / rubber and give them a wipe before you do any sliding on the new floor. I know from experience this is a very successful way to scratch your floor

    ^^^ what he said

Cable ties and some strong double sided adhesive tape / foam, or something like a go pro adhesive pad

Clean all the old glue off, drill a small hole in the bracket above where the existing mount hole is, stick double-sided foam pad / tape on the bracket then one zip tie through the hole you drilled and another just behind the mounting bracket thing, if it’s sloping in that area file a small notch to hold the zip tie in place.

I love zip ties, my car / bike / house are held together with them I think!

^^^ yeah filters…. Before you bung stuff in a dishwasher in any holiday property / centerparcs etc, check the filter then decide if you want to use / clean it! I’ve seen some really minhing ones in the past that obviously hadnt been cleaned for a long time!

    Lottery related but slightly different….

Is there any site that has a record of all the draw results, so eg you could put your favourite numbers in and it would tell ou from all previous results what you would have won if you played every week?

i got one for my 8yr old last year, nice and light, seems pretty well made.

Pedals bearings are a bit rough, but im not bothered, if they break i’ll just pick up aanother cheap plastic set. Brakes are good, gears work well. Very slight wobble on one of the wheels but its only minor and hasnt got any worse after 12 months of use. I keep meaning to true it up but its so small not worth worrying about. Headset bearing a fraction notchy but again nothing to worry about.

For the price, compared to say frog or isla i think it was great value, she had an isla bike before this one, and loves to ride this just as much.

In true dad style i’ve lso ridden it up and down the road to check brakes and gears, and its great! Its way way better and lighter than any bike i had at her age

    Another question!

Can I leave the old olive and lower compression nut on the pipe when fitting the new Flexi connector, or do I need to remove the old olive and use a new one?

    ok back again!

so i got a quote to fit the bath + taps +screen which was 380 inc vat, not sure if thats a fair rate, but i havent got that cash spare so im going to try it myself!

Just got a few questions :-)

    – should i get seperate isolator valves or just new flexi hoses with isolator valves fitted? Current tails are 3/4 to 15mm compression, so not sure what fitting id need on the end of the valve that would go to the existing tail. Im thinking new tails might be easier.

    – need to remove all the old silcone from the tiles, do i jst get remover gel and a plastic scraper thing?

    – the waste pipes…. heres a pic of them, theres the plughole, trap then lots of little bends to get it to align to the waste. Is there a sort of solvent weld flexy connector i can use to connect after the trap to the part where the waste drops down through the floor, to save me having to cut pieces of pipe?

    PXL_20210927_173348225

    PXL_20210927_173338212

lastly, im going to turn water off (obviously!) then fit the iolation valves / tails and remove the old bath. Now depending on how things go, how well behaved my kids are, what mood my wife is in etc, it might be a few days before i get the new bath in. Is it ok to just leave the isolation valves closed with water back on for a few days, or are they mainly designed for short periods of being closed and not connected to stuff?!

    thanks

I’ve abandoned the idea! Plughole is in a different place so I’ll have to add to the already mad looking mess of short bits of waste pipe and angles that is currently under the bath!

It’s only tiles on two sides as the room is longer than the bath so should remove ok I think.

Just off to Screwfix for valves, what’s the difference between isolating valves and full bore isolation valves?! Do full bore allow more flow, so I’m guessing they’d be best for a bath?

I got one too but my first attempt was a disaster, not sure if my dough was too wet (was a Jamie Oliver kit that’s all they had in the supermarket at the time), or if the stone thing wasn’t hot enough.

Then it fell apart when I removed it as I didn’t have a big pizza paddle thing! Ordered one off Amazon for my next attempt.

Any tips would be much appreciated!

( I meant just pick one and chilling, then I read the reply that was posted after I typed and back to square one 😄)

I think I’ll go with fee added to the mortgage option as Ive got more important things that the upfront £999 should be spent on.

I think you need to have the eco button turned off as this stops the boiler from staying at ‘ready to go’ temp, and it’s the heat from the boiler that’s rises up to warm the cup tray thing. If eco light is on the boiler is off until you make a coffee so there’s no heat getting to the warming tray.

It’ll still probably be rubbish though

That’s weird, I HAD this exact issue a few weeks ago after I updated the browser, I then sent an error report to samsung, used chrome for a few days then Samsung internet seemed to work so I assumed they’d fixed it. Still working fine on Samsung internet now so not sure what’s going on!

I remember there used to be loads of crazy ice lollies at the ice cream van as well, Dracula, fried eggs, funny feet, and some ice cream ones with a picture printed on it, haunted house I think.

Much more choice than today, and they had jokes on the sticks. Why did they stop doing that?!

Why did they do pop deliveries? I remember we used to get them, but not sure why. Was it because it only came in the heavy glass bottles, so saved you having to lug them home? I mean it’s not like pop was a daily essential which needed delivery like milk.

We used to have a ringtons tea delivery guy as well, always flogging some crappy patterned plates or tea caddy as an ‘extra’ with the delivery.

Is it really that big? Your thumb looks kinda stubby

Yeah my thumbs normal shape, was just sort of angled funny in that pic! It was from tip of thumb to knuckle, luckily it decided I didn’t look tasty enough, think it was just enjoying the sun, probably digesting the half pint of blood it just had off someone else
