Sorry, I’m from a bit different part of the UK, but I enjoy the “cycling-gram” a lot, so gimme a follow if you want

I’m half asleep all day. The only work-related thing I had to do was to print 4 copies of a drawing. Dead Day, indeed…

If you like more “classic approach” to mtb (read: “you don’t mind connecting the tracks with bits of tarmac”), then there is absolutely LOADS of riding around Torbay.

Get the OS map for the area – for example there is a big network of bridleways around Coffinswell-Stokeinteignhead-Combeteignhead (some are very technical). Or my favorite loop: Marldon-Aptor-Berry Pomeroy-Totnes (you can stop at Curator Cafe for a brew and high chance of meeting Slugwash!) -Aish (pretty technical 2 miles of rocky horror) -and back to Paignton. Approx 70% of the route is off-road.

Cockington Woods (with aforementioned Scadson) plus Round Down Wood gives plenty of great natural singletracks and fast gravel “speedway” fun.

Not overly extreme in “weird” category, but big time tasty: Soreen spread generously with peanut butter topped with chunky banana slices…

Not going for a work one. However on Saturday I’m going for a beer/meal with few boys I met via Strava 8)

I got redundant a year ago, just before Christmas (well, my official termination date was 31st of December). It supposed to be really stressful.

But I have to admit – it wasn’t… I found a better job quickly, being unemployed less then two weeks. Spending redundancy money was nice and I managed to do few nice long rides in that time too!

All I miss is my old country lanes/bridleway 15 miles commute each way… 8)

This morning my wife was panicking when she got an email saying that she bought some TomTom Navigation from iTunes. However if she wants a refund, all she had to do was to click on the provided link and give them her bank details! The best were the signature (Apple Team) and the email it came from (someting like bfdsa459@mirror4.com)

Yeah, RideWithGPS is a great tool for it! However in order to create routes with waypoints (so the Garmin beeps before every turn and shows you an arrow) you need to pay some small subscription fee for “premium” account.

Would Strava’s “Create Route” tool do the same thing?

    Follow this guide[/url]

I’ve ridden plenty of times using my Edge 200 for navigation, some over 100km road rides and some new trails discovering. It works very good! Considering it is not a proper Sat Nav 8)

Another vote for Butcher Control! I’ve done more than 5000 km on it and it’s still going strong.

I remember when I first rode my 29er it was wet and muddy (late October 2013). The bike came with Crossmark’s front/rear. When I got to the woods I felt quite nervous about the potential lack of traction. There was that steep climb full of rocks, covered with wet leaves – it looked scary and I was considering to dismount and walk it up… But at last second I decided to give it a go: easy gear, smooth and steady and the bike rolled up that track with not even one rear-wheel-slip! So, yeah – definitely more traction

My mud set are Butcher front/Purgatory back – nothing bad to say about these tyres.

It’s been a week since I’ve had mine Niterider Lumina 750. Great light!

My commute takes me through the woods and even blasting down rooty singletrack I can leave the light on “low” beam and have everything under control.

The “flash mode” is brilliant too – very bright and rapid, but not as “techno” as my Chinese eBay £14 beauty

I bought it from Ubyk – they have quite nice deal on it at the moment.

Niterider Lumina 750 light (I’ve had it only a week but it has already proved awesome!) and Rema TipTop tube patches.

DeFeet Dura Gloves for anything above 0°.

    Merino Buff.

    Lidl’s “motorcycle baselayer”.

A set of Crud Catcher Racepack 29er (combined with front Mudhugger)and Endura MT500 overshoes – after every muddy ride I realize how much I love these simple items!

I had a pair of 2-years old Sealskinz socks. One of them developed a hole on a toe. Contacted SS to ask if there are any methods for DIY seal. In response they asked me to send them the pair for inspection (mind you – you know how mountainbiker’s old socks look like…). A week later they posted me a new pair FOC!

I’ve got exactly the one as in the link! Used it about 5 times already. I used to use two buckets (one soapy water, second with clean to wash off) with brushes . I wash my bike on a car park, which is too far from home to use a hose. So carrying all the stuff up there and back is quite an exercise… 8) What can I say – this things is brilliant for me!

All I need now is that water pump filled with clean water and an old muc-off spray bottle filled with fairy solution or some bike cleaner if I have any. And brushes. Remove move of the cr*p with a brush first, then wash the bike.

The pressure this “machine” creates is sufficient enough for the job. Feels a bit flimsy to be honest, but it works well, doesn’t leak and simply makes my life a bit simpler

I’ll probably be going out for a “near-midnight-stroll” either tonight or tomorrow (if tomorrow it may be a bit earlier than very late night). I live in Paignton, but it’s not far. Let me know if you’re insomniac

I only have one bike already and I love it to bits. It’s a 29er HT, nothing special really. But after the distance I’ve already covered on it in various environments and conditions I can honestly say, that is is THE BIKE. Fitting 700×35 slicks transforms it to fast and comfortable road machine, while 2.3″ knobblies make it a great off-road machine. 100mm lockable forks.

A friend let me use his old road bike, which I sometimes use. But I found I’m still faster on my 29er! :/

I’ve got that yellow 8 litres one from ebay for 10 quid. It works well for me. 8 litres is enough to wash properly muddy bike (including cleaning the tyres to “as new” condition) and bits removed prior the wash: mudguards and frame protectors. The pressure is not super powerful, but it may be an advantage actually for bike cleaning.

That Dura-Ace grease… I think that’s what I’m missing in my “how to get those KOMs?” strategies… 2 tubes ordered…

I bought 500ml Castrol grease in Halfords about 5 years ago. I think my daughter’s grandchildren will be able to keep using it – I’ve used maybe 1/15th of it on all the repairs/repacks I’ve done so far!

There is a chap I see sometimes on my commute. He’s got that light. Very bright, really cuts through on early morning winter grayness.

I’ve got Mavic Pulse shoes, which are a model lower from Rush (they have 3 velcro straps, no ratchet). What can I say – pretty damn good shoes!

I’ve had them for 1.5 year. They are my only cycling shoes. Used almost everyday, in every condition, in deepest mud and also on a road rides. Very breathable (overshoes or Seal Skinz in winter are good idea!), very comfortable and they provide nice grip when needed.

My longest rides in them was 204 km in very hot weather on road and 12 hours night race. My feet survived with no problem 8)

I’ve been using Budget Insurance. Had two claims for stolen bikes in the past – both dealt with no problems. They even allowed to deduct the excess from the valuation when I requested.

The only “catch” – every year they send me renewal letter with that “super price premium”, which is about 5 times more than before! So I cancel the insurance with them every year, just to get a new one on-line 5 minutes later for a fraction of the price… 8)

EDIT: Forgot to mention that one bike theft happened outside home – I was still covered.

There is a guy I sometimes see on my commute. He has Exposure RedEye and I must say – that light is awesome. In early morning day light it is very visible from loooong distance.

I use Lezyne Zecto, which I think is good, but that RedEye is just AWESOME.

How do these RAF ones look in sizes? I wear “Large” normally (Endura stuff), but I’m skinny and for example the Scott shorts that were on the forum few weeks ago are a bit too large…

Is “L” a large, or a medium on the Military ones? LOL

Weird stuff. I love my MT500s, I’m on my second pair now. But mine are not “oversized” – they require a bit of “uh… oh…” when putting them on, but then they are great.
