If you have something growing inside your camelbak (or bottle!) or if it feels very slimy (when you leave water in for 4 weeks…):
    1. wash it
    2. put the hose and mouth bit inside
    3. half-fill with warm water
    4. add two spoons of bleach
    5. fill up with water
    6. close the lid and leave for few hours.

    Rinse it properly after! 8)

But it works wonders, the thing will be fresh like new!

Thanks for the info with rubber o-ring – going to order one now!

It’s called ‘National Insurance’ – even sounds like it’ll pay out when you need it, doesn’t it?

No, it doesn’t. It would if it was called “Your Insurance”.

It says “national” – hence it goes for insuring the nation, doesn’t it?

And “they” are part of the nation too, so… :|

It’s still pretty warm out there – let the feet get wet! Just don’t forget to take spare socks…

When do they “commit the crime”?

    If it’s evenings:
    1. Go there a bit earlier.
    2. Hide.
    3. Wait for them to start working.
    4. Put a big white sheet over yourself and walk out slowly from behind the tree/bush.

They will never enter the woods again.

The Camelback are good, but I don’t know what happened with mine – to click or un-click the hose from the bladder it requires so much f*%kin elbow grease it’s unreal!!!

If I covered my feet in the stuff – would I be Jesus-walking on water?

If your spanner is 10cm and you weigh 40Kg then I can’t see a problem.

Spanner is 300mm, bodyweight 78kg. :? I need to re-calibrate the tools then.

I remember when they started appearing more often in Poland (just after the communism died) people were talking how wonderful they are.

My mum’s friend bought one and was telling her: “you can warm up an ice cream so it’s boiling hot, but it won’t melt!” 8)

Don’t have one for the last 12 years, we managed to cope quite well even when our daughter was born

However now we’re looking for a bigger house – maybe if the kitchen’s big enough we might have one. The popcorn thing…….

My wife bought this one back in July Whyte Fairfield Ladies Bike[/url]

Great looking, light (lighter than my 29er alu HT…), comfy and pretty responsive bike! I wouldn’t mind having one to be honest – I rode it few times and it felt really good (even though it is “a bit” too small for me).

It goes over gravelly tracks like a rocket (tested on the Green in Haldon, and loads of French cycle paths few weeks ago)!

    Recommended.

You can give back £90 – you’ve had some expenses! LOL

Seriously though – I’d give it back.

Niterider Lumina series are worth considering too: 750 on the bars, 400 on helmet – fantastic combo! (much cheaper than Exposure but still very clever and solid lights)

I’ve got Tifosi Duro – really good they are, but I’m not sure if you would classify their style as “casual”… I think they look very cool off the bike too.

Bought them very cheap at Cycle Surgery – 50% off. Worth checking!

2014 Merdia Big Nine 900. I don’t think getting any other bike would make me any better rider

    I love it to bits.

For this temp range I go with DeFeet DuraGloves. Pretty basic, but comfortable gloves and last ages. Mine are standard old version, with no “touchscreen properties”, but after few minutes on the bike I can use my phone like I had no gloves at all.

Now they have a proper touchscreen version.

    The fix is really easy!

MTFU and stop using the granny ring!

Seriously speaking: you didn’t specify how old is the crankset. Maybe it’s time to replace the chainring?

Some time ago I was riding with a friend through the fields of Dartmoor (the ‘invisible’ paths from the top of Avon Dam), then we saw the cows at the top of the hill, about 100 metres in front of us. We decided to ride a bit closer to see if there is a way of taking a different track.

When we got about 50 metres closer we could see better. Full on cow and bull love-making scene… Damn, if there was a Strava segment we would have some awesome KOMs!!!

(I always used to think that bulls must be kept enclosed!?)

Ha! What about the European “I MUST OVERTAKE THAT CAR IN FRONT OF ME” thing? Even if the road is narrow and you are doing the max speed limit – if there is a car behind you they will be overtaking you for sure. Even if the next thing they do is to slow down to the maximum speed limit…

But the thing to love – no ‘pay and display’ car parking cr*p!

    Lovely looking bike!

However in my opinion it is quite expensive considering the time your little man would be using it… If you have cash to spare – that’s not a problem

Getting a small pedal bike and removing the crankset and chain would make the whole thing last a bit longer. 8)

We’ll be staying very close to Avranches, so I’ll definitely try as much as above as I can.

We were looking around for one recently and after stopping by Thule shop and looking at the VeloCompact 927 we decided to spend a bit more than planned and buy it.

It is a fantastic bit of kit. Very solid and well build. It locks to the car, the bike can be locked to the rack, the tilt allows us to access a boot of our Meriva with no problems (and with three bikes on there was no issues with tilting it!). Looking forward to our trip to France on Saturday with the bikes on!

Top pull = it will start rattling after about 2 years.

Bottom pull = it will never start rattling.

My wife bough me this one at Argos for Bonty24/12 last weekend.

I didn’t have a too high expectations, but after testing it in some rather hard conditions (who was there knows what I’m talking about…) I must say it is very good! I don’t camp a lot, but setting this tent up made me look like some professional tent erector! About 5 minutes to set it up! Took a bit longer to take it down though, but it was because it was in heavy rain… I assume in decent conditions it takes 5 minutes too.

And it is waterproof – despite the awful rain there was no leak, it kept me comfortable dry and warm during my 2 hours sleeping times

    Cheap, light and good.

I had that twice in a row on XT cassettes – the rivets gave up. Both times it was successfully dealt through warranty claim, then I moved to Deore cassettes – no problems with them at all.

You can find the whole set of XTR cables on eBay for just over a tenner. Inners, outers, ends, ferrules, sealing hoods…

I does come with pre-cut outers though!

Get some small light for the time when you are obligated to use them (is it from 8PM?), swap it for a big one when it gets dark (10:30PM?) and it will last till it’s daylight again (about 4:30AM?) – and you don’t need to use it full power non-stop.

Most of the times I shout some dirty Polish words on them, with a smile – the livestock think I’m a nice gentleman while I release my life frustration

I don’t smile to squirrels though. They are deadly mother******s.

BTW, if the engine stops delivering power when you reach 15 mph, right? And from what I read in Cranked (the “Cube e-bikes” article) – the front chainring in microscopic, it has 15t or something like that. So how the hell can you ride more than 15mph on the flat? Even with 11t on the back, I’m pretty sure it would take some spinning…

I fitted the XTR ones more than a year ago. Still crisp and light gear change, front and rear, and I’ve never even cleaned/lubed the cables!

I commute on the bike, (I have no car option…) – so it sees some “proper” conditions a lot.

The difference is most noticeable when rolling fast on tracks covered with small rocks and roots, like the one here:
