thanks for the offer – will check them out. How much for postage?

It’s a large box, but not heavy. I think myhermes could take it for
    £3.99. Let me know Duane.

I can supply you an unused set of these: SKS Velo 42 with stays for £15.

They have been unpacked, I started fitting them on my 29er with 38mm CX tyres, but then I realised that:
    – front one would look horrendously bad on a 100mm corrected rigid P2 fork
    – the rear bracket is L-shaped, to fit the brace with a hole drilled horizontally (my bike has one drilled vertically).

They feel very solid, come with stainless steel stays.

Haha, thanks DezB! I think I’ve already signed up there, but I’ll better Repeat-err… re-check! ;-)

I saw Joe Lally with his solo project about 9 years ago and it was maybe 10 people in the venue (Plymouth)! A bit of a difference after experiencing Fugazi in Wroclaw in Poland in early ’00, where the crowd was just insane…

But I totally understand what you mean though!

I had a couple of very wet commutes and a proper muddy ride in the rain last night wearing Endura MTR trousers. They work and fit lovely.

The original Dura Gloves from DeFeet are synthetic (Cordura, hece the name!) – they are very good even in wet, but they are not windproof.

I recently bought a pair of GripGrab Rides https://www.gripgrab.com/collections/full-finger-gloves/products/ride-windproof-glove and they are excellent – not waterproof, but they withstand 40 minutes commute in moderate consistent rain with no problem. Very comfy and light, still warm at around 0°C.

I normally use a pair of Goretex shorts over bibs/undershorts (length depending of the temperature) and it’s been great.

However I decided to treat myself for an early Christmas present and bought Endura MTR trousers. My first commute in them yesterday, in biblical conditions and the setup with neoprene overshoes was a revelation!!!

My standard Shimano SPD’s came with the plastic adapters to clip-in on one side and this transformed one side of the pedals into normal-shoes-friendly platform. They worked well for me for family rides. But then I lost them…

So if anyone has an unnecessary pair…. ;-)

I was looking to get the Volt, but at the end I purchased the cheapest Specilazed Henge (the Sport model). Very comfy and still looks like new, despite almost 5000 km of use (including some longer rides, over 100 km).

Strava is a good place too – see who rides you local trails, give kudos, leave comments, maybe “steal” some KOMs if doable… I met few nice guys that way!

I’ve been using them front and rear for the last 1040.3 km (according to Strava). They are the Black Chili Protection version, which I had from CRC.

They went tubeless with no hassle, using just and old Joeblow track pump (on Shimano XT wheels). I’ve used them on various terrains in different weather conditions. The grip is amazing. I think that the wetter it is the grippier the tyres got. I’m not very skillful rider, but these rubbers give me a lot of confidence on wet roots and rocks. I ran them with quite low pressures 14 front 16 rear on mega wet ride a week ago, which included a lot of rocky bridleways – and there was not a moment where the MK’s would slip. Even on very steep gravel/rocks with wet leaves climbs (I mean “chest on the stem” steep, with 22t front and 36t back) the rear one offered constant traction.

I use my bike for daily commutes too. 100% tarmac, about 10 km each way. Yes, they rumble like a motherf####s. Yes, you can feel the vibrations coming from these lugs, especially rear. And on tarmac climbs you can feel and hear the rear tyre almost squeaking… But after over the 1000 km there is actually almost no sign of wear!

    I’m seriously considering this…

Something is not right. On the cover frame to that video (scroll up to the first post) I can clearly see he’s got Shimano XT wheelset. I’ve got the same. And my wheels don’t ride even close like his!

On my shoes the cleat was not moving at all too! It was the whole part of the sole (including the cleat) that was moving in relation to the rest of the shoe…

Have you checked if there is everything OK with the actual shoe itself? I had an issue with Mavic MTB shoes few years back, where a part of the sole cracked along the cleat mount – couldn’t see this at first, as it was covered with the various thread patterns. But it was very difficult to unclip (extra 10° of movement or so at least!) and to clip in (as every time the cleat was in slightly different location!).

While in the subject: Mavic and CRC were amazing with the warranty, even though the shoes had big muddy milage in and were just few weeks before the warranty period ended!

Rad8 – great on full-sun rides as well as on total-darkness ones (tested recently). They are also very good in preventing misting up, as long as you’re moving, even in proper snail pace. When it is very humid (think autumnal night ride after a warm day) the anti-fog coating will eventually give up when you stop or ride up very steep climb, but 2-3 seconds of just slightly faster spin will clear them up imminently.

Worth to mention: not just great glasses, but their customer support is beyond excellent!

I’ve been looking at Endura Singletrack Windproof gloves after today’s commute in summer version of the ST’s. They seem to be a good “before Aldi gloves” option!

Just to add a bit more (and make OP’s life a tad more difficult!) – I have always been a Maxxis-man. For some reason last week I decided to try the new Mountain King 2.3, in Black Chili version (front and back on a XC hardtail). Tested them on Saturday, in full rain riding over the very rooty and rocky woods. I must say – the grip these rubbers provide is phenomenal!

I was looking at Light and Motion Taz 2000 few weeks ago. Actually I was in the middle of completing the order on Cyclestore, while got an email with offers from CRC with the Lezyne Deca 1500i reduced to £95… I decided to give it a go (less than half a price!) and so far I’ve been very impressed with it! The “Infinite” battery pack is a great thing.

The only thing worth noting is that after you’ve prepped your bike like on paulx photo, the sky suddenly clears up, mud dries up and it feels like it’s summer again!!! Try to take the mudguards off then…

It is Tour de Moor, in Dartmoor – organised by St Luke’s Hospice, so definitely not a commercial-type ride. I’ve never done the “free ride”, hence my question ;-)

Mudhugger has never let me down. But if you want something you can take off easily, then rear Crud is brilliant and very cheap. (as long as you fit the guard to the bracket properly on the initial assembly!!! The “push in” plastic tab underneath is there for a reason. #learnedthehardway )

I thought we don’t use them anymore due as apparently they build guns? ;-)

I’ve got their bladder good few years now and had a couple of O-rings that needed replacement. At both occasions I received them free with no hassle at all – for me this is beyond excellent customer service.

Niterider Lumina lights are very good. I’ve got 750 and 400 (the 750 used to be my bar light for the last 3 years, until very recent upgrade). The helmet bracket came with the 750 (not included in the lower models, but it is available and not expensive) and it works ideal with my A1 helmet.

Solid construction (more than a few crashes and drops on concrete floor), great beam pattern, not scared of the worst weather conditions (tested daily on commutes) and even the top-end models are quite cheap!

I had Manitou Marvel 100 mm that came with my bike in the late part of 2013 and they had no play at all. Recently I bought 120 mm Marvel, 2017 model and the annoying busing play is there from day one…

CRC are selling Lezyne Deca 1500i (STW reviewed it here https://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/review-lezyne-deca-drive-i1500-led-light/ ) for less than half price. It comes with a battery pack, the run times with it look very decent!

I was thinking about buying different light, then I saw this last night… Purchased this morning…

The bike – an electric-assisted Specialized pedal cycle – was found abandoned

Specialized electric-assisted bikes, of the kind involved in Tuesday’s collision, range from just over £2,000 to almost £9,000

“Yeah, nah… I’ll just leave this cheap bike here…”

I had one somewhere, left after my bike got stolen with the light on… This was a 110 lumens light with battery pack. If I find it this weekend I’ll let you know.
