Annoying that they were able to get it even though it was locked up. My work do have signs up saying it is left at your own risk etc, so I doubt there’s much they will do. I guess my lesson learnt is to lock it through the wheel+frame as the guy was able to ride it off (with my D-lock still attached!)

The horsforth quest has come to an end due to there not being any houses coming onto the market… now looking at Farsley or Rawdon, any thoughts on these? Farsley is a bit of an unknown so any comments welcome! cheers

Yeah, I’d do the train one or two days a week and then bike it the rest. I work in the centre of Leeds and the missus commutes by car to Bradford, hence the reason for being based out West.

I know it’s very competitive, hence the post on here on the off chance as we’re not having much luck through the normal channels at the moment!

Budget is £250k to £300k ish.
We just like that Horsforth’s still near the city (we’re currently living in the centre) and has good transport links and facilities/shops/decent enough pubs. Just seems like a logical next step if that makes sense.

Ok, I guess I’m wondering if the wheels are which are setup for 15mm qr will work as they are with my 9mm forks? Or if I’ll need to adapt them?

The one I have in there goes down quite a way. It’s 1 1/4.

I put the steerer in 3/4 and tightened, I can’t see any separation but I’m a little worried about overtightening.

Ok, so the worst thing is that I did it with a new torque wrench. I kept turning it thinking it would click as others I’ve seen have, it didn’t feel that tight but the torque wrench is much more heavier tool than just an Allen key. I basically got a new torque wrench and didn’t know how to use it properly…. Using it on my best bike first was a bad idea in hindsight!! Numpty 🙁

It’s not a new build, I bought it second hand, but wanted to change the stem.

My steerer bung is pretty tight and aluminium… Can’t believe it!! Argh
The top one was there when I bought it… Not sure how it was cut, the guy I got it from was a bit of a bodger so maybe he wanted to mark the steerer for some reason…

Had a look inside and I can’t see any visible cracks… This mean it’s ok?

So after a fair bit of messing around, I took it to recycle engineering in Leeds (as recommended cheers – good guys) and they sorted it by grinding flats to the spindle and levering it off…

Crank arm threads were luckily ok and I now have my pedals on 🙂

Apparently the previous owner had put them on dry…

I agree the crank arms do look cracked on the photo but I have them a wipe and couldn’t see anything after. Might get hold of stilsons

Good spot. Those are cracks ! Only on the edge of the Allen key fitting on spindle, nothing on the crankarm itself luckily…. I’m guessing we are talking drilling now?

Ok I get it now, I could try that, think the spindles are titanium so might take a while to flatten…
