Thanks for the suggestions. I don’t really want to go to the expense of building an additional base frame if I can get away with it.

The base structure of the building is that all the weight is at the perimeter, so this is where it needs to be level. You put down a foundation beam around the perimeter, then build up the logs on top (they slot together)

Resurrecting this as we have now had a concrete slab put down.

The issue I have now is, when I measure it, it appears to be around 40mm lower on one side to the other – which I think is quite a drop!

I have a tuin charlie log cabin on order (with composite foundation beams), arriving in a few weeks, so I’m after any ideas on the best way to get it level as I have heard you can have issues with the logs splitting / windows and doors not fitting etc if it’s all on a wonk.

    Any help appreciated !

Thanks, will take a look. We’re just there for the weekend so 19-22nd July (Fri-Mon) – riding not likely unfortunately

Yeah that loop looks good as does the dale bike centre – thanks for sharing.

May borrow that route but then head back into leeds via grassington/Bolton abbey on day 2

We’ve decided on a road ride trip from Dent / Kirkby Stephen.

Any GPX/route suggestions out there? Route planning is not my forte!

Yeah I think the caliper pistons are fine/clean. It is pretty much a new bike.

I’ve done the gently tighten technique, I think i’m struggling to hold the calipers in place whilst I tighten to proper spec. Anyway, more tinkering required – thanks for all the help so-far

Its just rubbing slightly and only on a certain part of the rotor. They are brand new rotors though so shouldn’t be warped?

I had to manually position the caliper to stop the rubbing, its only when I tighten down the calipers to the frame (to torque spec) that the rubbing happens again, like it moves the caliper angle position when its torqued (just guessing though).

The calipers are not loose, but not as tight as recommended.

Just got some zipp xplr sl70 and they have a modest flare at hoods and drops. Went from the prime gravel bar to these and much prefer them (found the prime bars too big/sharp on the tops)

Some great ideas thanks, need a while to process!

Would be starting north west leeds just outside (can get to shipley or leeds train station easy enough)

Cheers for the input. I do like the idea of being in Guiseley or Menston so Wharfedale way. Baildon feels a little cut off but also possibly an option as seems a bit cheaper. Otley traffic would do my nut I think, I’ve spent quite a bit of time queuing through there. Decent bike shop with Chevin cycles though!
Being able to catch a train into Leeds or Ilkely would be handy. Only issue seems to be lack of housing on the market but hoping that may pick up when we get into spring.

Thanks, my missus works near bradford(Clayton) so another consideration!

Cheers, think maybe a double then (needs to be 1400 wide but thanks!) and hope the plumber can make sure it gets the supply it needs. Another reason for considering a single is that the room isn’t all that wide, however there’s only about 4cm between single and double it seems.

Thanks for recommendations and advice so far. I’ve followed up on a few of them, some having waiting lists though (probably a good sign).

I have the Rockbros 2 bike version. Its been pretty good, however one of the fork brackets came loose, the securing bolt now doesn’t tighten properly. I’ve been using the other side fine though – I’d probably say use them for occasional journeys and if you’re doing anything more frequent go with the full roofbars or rear tow bar setup.

Haha yeah I was a bit surprised to see them – gone now but they were a git to take off.

So I finally got hold of one…. one ride in and all seems good, loving the etap gears. Now thinking of switching the bars out (always something! :)) and hopefully some new wheels at some point down the line.

Well I did think I had managed to find one a couple of weeks back, never saw it but agreed to go pick it up this Friday.
Just had a call from the bike shop saying the frame was damaged so I’ll now have to wait until September for one and that it’s not long to wait considering current state of industry (it is if you think you’re getting it in two days)
I can’t help being a little suspicious- is “frame damaged in transit” code for we sold the bike to someone else(a mate?) or we never had it in the first place. Disappointed!

@samuelr – how is the bike going? i’m in a similar position and am considering the gravel 30 or 20 (if I can work out if 1x will be good enough for road also!)

    Cheers

@walowiz yeah thanks, it’s basically nearly another £3k on top for the 10 though which is a bit hard to stomach!

    meandyuk

@walowiz – how do you find the gravel 10? Nice bike but not sure I can justify the extra cash. What’s it like weight wise?

I’ve managed to find a 30 which I’m tempted by but looks like it may be fair heavy, also not electronic gearing which I fancied and the grx is due an update which is putting me off a bit.

All sorted – the 2nd guy came and fixed it there and then for £70. He was there for about an hour or so.

    Cheers for advice/help 🙂

Haha thanks – he’s based in Lincolnshire, not far from Grantham. I’ve asked another plumber to come take a look.

Thanks, I think the consensus is that it’s too much.
Interesting in the comment about price being based on vulnerability- the toilet is actually at my Dads, who isn’t too well so annoying that this may have been played on.

I think I’ll get another quote.

    Cheers, lots of replies/info.

The bike has always been like it, I bought the frame (planetx fully monty sl) and this headset:
    https://www.wiggle.co.uk/brand-x-headset-integrated-tapered-steerer

I did cut the steerer down myself but pretty sure the spacers are ok – steerer sits probably 5mm below the highest spacer.

So the sensor looks to be sealed and hidden in the side of the mirror so moving it won’t be easy.

New mirror or mirror near sensor bodge look like the options!

    Thanks for suggestions

Sensor looks to be all built in. And the wiring for it is also enclosed, no switches its permanently on

    meandyuk
    Full Member

Hmm yes perhaps could try that but I don’t want anything sticking out.

I’m now wondering if a convex/concave lense over the sensor will help.. I may also be talking b*llox 🙂

Yeah I don’t know why there is a certain distance needed either but it’s definitely a thing!

Moving it would mean moving the sink unit as well which we aren’t / can’t do.

Cheers, I think I’ve found somewhere on eBay, they’re for an out front garmin mount which goes into the stem.

Cheers I think I’ve found one. It’s for an out front garmon mount that goes onto the stem

    Haha how does that happen!

My caad12 frame is rim brake so pretty sure there is a cable along the top tube.

    meandyuk

I think mine does have an outer (rear brake) and the gear cables don’t
