You’re not wrong. I’m a Canyon owner and a fan of the brand. Maybe I hang on and see if they do bring a carbon 29er hardtail. Am just put off alu by my early bikes when I got into the sport, I had a Stumpjumper 2004 which battered me.

Categorically; I’d never lie about being photographed with a dominatrix or cocaine.
Photos of me with both would be on my facebook page.

I’m going to tell my kids “everything in moderation”, including paid for sex and recreational pharmaceuticals. Just as long as they dont grow up to be dreary, sanctimonious North London lefties they can do what they want.

aaaaaaand more personal abuse. my kids go to a fee paying school, I’d love to get them into St Pauls, where Osborne (and Harriet Harman) went. Does that mean they are going to be contemptable people kimbers? Me too?

Really binners? Havent we been “living beyond our means”? Have a look at the defecit Labour left compared to the rest of the G20. Brown and Balls stuck us in a proper hole.

erm…..I think the US does have fiscal union – its called the Federal Reserve.

Interesting chatter on the news last night, Euro exit, Drachma to be reintroduced so that pensions and salaries can at least be paid but they keep paying the money they owe to the ECB/IMF in EUR. That would need another huge write-off of the principal but at least the capital markets would be open to them at some point down the line.

Those Mavic wheels I’m not sold on, not all that strong I dont think and not particularly light. Too much money.

10 speed you’re way off, is smooth as butter, never going back.

And that is one of the very first Lynskey Ti456, one of the first batch. Best bike I’ve ever owned, going to be replaced after it has taken me the length of the Pyrenees this summer with a Lynskey Ridgeline 29er.

All in all I’d say you are talking crrrrrrrrrrrrrrap.

I’m not feeling smug about any of this. The Greeks here in our our offices are properly humiliated by this and are grasping at straws, blaming the Germans and their own politicians. What infuriates me is the Panglossian “oh everything will be alright” attitude from pro-Europeans. We have our own problems but at least they’re of our own making.

Teej you’ve still got your head firmly buried in the sand. Hollande isnt going to be dictating anything to Merkel. The French havent balanced their budget for 40yrs, they are in no position to lecture anyone.

First up it looks like there will be elections again in June at which it is going to be made clear to the Greek voters that they are now voting on an in/out European referendum. If they choose the protest vote of far left/right then thats it, they are gone from the Euro and maybe the EU. Me, personally I think the Greeks ought to leave the Euro now. Problem they have is that their economy is paper thin….they dont really produce anything.

It’s going to be up to them but they can’t continue saying on the one hand how they are sure they want to be fully part of Europe and at the same time vote for firmly anti-austerity parties.

Yes very different route than last year but the principal remains the same…..get through the first 95km or so and the last 40km is much much easier, mostly open and dry trails. Evil middle section where they beast us up and down the Ridgeway, what 3 times?

Farage is a typical upper-middle class English bloke. Bit of an old buffer, likes a drink, probably likes a bit of un-PC slap and tickle banter. I’m not expecting him to set the world on fire with any biting intellect but he’s been right on the EU and he seems like a pretty decent bloke to me.

Certainly doesnt deserve to be labelled racist by you Ernie. Makes you sound like Lee Jasper.

    The blazer-wearing posh halfwit racists

See, there we go again. Childish mud slinging.

In what regard is UKIP racist Ernie? They want Britain out of EU and a restriction on immigration. So do you.

Ta….look nice. Going to be an Elite or a Canyon 29er if they bring out a carbon hardtail.

…..or maybe a Ti frame build.

Any of you have a look at or test ridden a 29er Elite as opposed to the Reaction? The Elite more of an out and out race bike?

Of the euro, Mr Farage also said: “This now poses huge dangers to the continent. We face the prospect of mass civil unrest, possibly even revolution in some countries that are being driven in to total and utter desperation…

….and in other news, fire has been reported in Pudding Lane.

To be fair to Nige and his supposed “swivel-eyed extremists” in UKIP, they have been proved entirely right.

I got the Vapour for commuting in London traffic, has a very nice upright shape which suits. It is quite harsh at the back (compared to a Boardman carbon road bike previous) but thats remedied by running the tyres at 45-55psi. Havent had racks on it.

I got a Genesis Vapour CX bike for £1300. Alu frame, carbon fork, BB7 mech discs. Have to say I’m very happy with the brakes, I thought about waiting for hydros but am glad I didnt, just cant see why I would need any more power…..are waaaaay better than v/calipers in the wet. Good bike.

ouch…..were a few dubious looking greasy bits right in the saddle of descents, not surprised someone had a spill. Hope you feel OK tomorrow.

That was my first Gorrick event, really enjoyed it. Course was incredible dry considering the weather we’ve had. Good course selection me-thinks, lot of hardpacked singletrack the trail fairies have been nursing for us.

Me, I didnt feel all that fast but didnt lose a lot of time in the later laps, did 3, will do 5 laps next year…..7 looked like purgatory. Spoke to a couple of lads who were on 5 of 7 and they “just want it to be over now”.

I reckon 50% or more were on 29ers……and close to 100% of the really fast guys. They just look “right” for racing on dont they? The shock on my race bike let me down again so I ended up riding my Ti456 in all mountain build with a big 140mm Talas fork on the front. Wasnt light but didnt feel too bad and I was glad of it on the downs.

    Great day.

Spent loads of time down there. My sister lives in Kentish Town. Good for a weekend? Certainly. Live there? You must be ****ing joking!!!

Binners Kentish Town is a notorious cr4phole and good for one thing only – heroin. Next time you are down come up the hill to the N.London leafy paradise that is Crouch End, N8. I never want to live anywhere else.
