It is an embarrassment to see the mass of doe-eyed droolers and disturbing to see how so many can be so easily pleased by so little.

Oh the sanctimony. Dont be embarrased, just tell us what you think we should be allowed to enjoy.

I’m having a lovely time, can’t wait to go to the athletics on Friday night.

I don’t turn up to dig days because of my disagreement with the policy adopted.

Thats convenient. Which trails do you volunteer to maintain?

I did my Surrey Hills loop in the sunshine on Friday pm, was lovely as ever, trails are holding up pretty well considering. On a 29er for the first time so maybe hard to tell but the entry through the bomb hole at the top seemed more gentle. Am another one with a mental block on that since the fella had to be choppered out a few weeks ago.

Yeh my boy is on an Isla Bein 26, which is lovely and light but is really a CX bike and he wants to ride proper XC now.

Yes he’s 4’8″ right now too. How does she find the weight of the 456? I loved mine but figured steel wasn’t going to work for a kid.

Yes I had a look at Merlin. Presume the 1 is a basic alu frame (fine) , the 3 and 4 are a bit more top end?

Mike I’m sure you are making a valid point but honestly I don’t have a clue what you are saying.

Btw the fast guys at Transpyr were all on 29er doubles but were mostly supermen.

    Boys boys boys

There’s a good thread in here somewhere.

I just did a 8 day mountain stage race on a 26er with triple. I was so exhausted some days I can’t imagine hauling myself up those climbs without granny. My pal however did it on a 29er double and was fine. I’m now riding a 29er triple but have a lovely double middleburn staring at me from the shed. Anyone have a link to gear charts that compare 26 and 29er? If Northwind is right on the ratios I’m going double.

So… If we are such a great sporting nation, why does Mo have to train in the US?
    POSTED 1 MINUTE AGO # REPORT-POST

Warm weather and altitude. And you know what, none of this is about national willy waving. It’s lovely seeing Brits do well but I only really want everyone to have a good time and maybe go home thinking a bit better of us.

And the cost? If I could prioritise what my taxes are spent on the olympics would be pretty near the top.

I’m not sure he’s right on helmets (I never get on a bike without one FWIW) but I’m sure he’s just about my favourite human being alive.

But there is too much thrill in the air to worry about the view or the narrative – and nobody had to wonder who was winning because, obviously, Bradley Wiggins was. “The great thing about cycling”, Wiggins said afterwards (brace yourself, he is about to become more likeable still) “is that anyone can watch it. We all know about the Olympic ticketing – inside here, it can all become a bit of a prawn sandwich fest. Ultimately, all the real fans are outside the gates.”

Did Maid Marion push Robin aside and drill the Sheriff of Nottingham between the eyes from 50 paces? Duh!

Worth p[opping upstairs to the Olympic shop in Westfield. Fantastic views, they have guides in there pointing everything out.

Every four years I remember how much I love watching amature boxing, gymnastics and rowing.

I really dont care how many medals we win as long as everyone has a lovely time and goes home thinking we’re nice and a little bit cool.

Typical spiteful accusations thrown around by very sore losers.
The US know that China has concentrated strongly on developing swimming since 2008, and with their population and investment, its inevitable that they find some young stars.
The US are getting desperate and playing dirty

Yeh he’s American, therefore a bad loser and almost certainly evil.

She beat the fastest man in the world in an event that has been dogged by doping. Unless you are wilfully blind that ought to be evidence enough.

Ioum, if she were American what would you be saying?

If the Opening Ceremony cost £27mm, and there was an audience of 27,000,000 then its the best quid I’ve ever spent.

Hope’s HS136 adaptor turns your fork into a tapered one by sliding down over the steerer to make it wider.

    Clever that is.

I couldnt get a tapered steerer for my 29″ build so stayed with 1/18. Feels good, 15mm QR helps I guess. Anyone really notice a difference with tapered steerer?

I despair at the state of our police and criminal justice system. John Terry, Rio-F, the guy at the airport, now this headline chasing by the cops. Someone really needs sacking, starting with Kier Starmer.

Is it me, or are there police on every other corner…

    Good

And dont blame the cops. Blame the religious cup-cakes that would dearly like to spoil the party.

What zippy said. I just fitted 1 1/8 steerer into a oversize headtube with an adapted Chris King headset. Hope have the full range too.

Cost £5, though I hope it doesnt rain as it doesnt have a roof.

If education should be free who is going to pay for the lecturers?

That’d be everyone, wouldn’t it? But only because the country as a whole benefits, innit?

    Socialism – no thanks

I dunno if i’m convinced by the whole 29er FS concept. As a HT and XC bike the 29er makes complete sense to me. (I have 2 of them) but as a full-suss, i just don’t understand it fully.

However, i’ve not actually ridden a 29er FS to see i must admit.

    +1

I rode my new Ti 29er properly for the first time yesterday having moved over from a 100mm FS race bike and a Ti 26er. Was the fastest I’ve ever been on those trails. I’m into XC and endurance stylee too so no-brainer for me.

Been big moves in 29er fork and especially wheel design in the last year or so, my 29er is lighter than my 26er hardtail. Just flies over rough stuff.

Same here, I’m flummoxed by this. If I look in from the thread side I can see the c-clip. But what do I do to get it out? Do I push it down or try and lift it back towards the threaded side? Struggling.

I’m watching every second I can, same as Sydney and Beijing. We’ve got it on in the office too, everyone watching all day and not much work is expected to be done.

And if you have tickets to an event you go and you dont need to book time off. Thats the attitude but then we’re right on the edge of East London/City so the place is jumping with people and good cheer.

I just stuck a pair on American Classics 29ers…..they went on fine with a tube then tube out and neat fairy liquid. Might be 2012 as no change in the graphics.

Not being much help to you, mine worked fine sorry.
