Well I loved him on Jules….and album review according to Guardian ‘artfully flesh out the rock and folk elements with splashes of bendir, oud and djembe’ Ok he has done a few C & W bits but his backing bands are generally superb

Whats not to like, and at 69, keep on playing

On second thoughts It wasn’t my knees, it was thighs….getting out of the saddle was definitely the way to climb. Running 36 x 18, bike is not intended for serious climbs, more like cross. I’m sure it will teach me to attack climbs rather than winch up, as with gears

peddaly and hard work to get to the downhill bits. Its mountain biking.
This. I like earning my turns.

Some enterprising person could open an electric bike hire shop there and the lazy uplift lovers would then flock to Afan to go electric for a weekend.
    +1.

+ 2…..but you can stuff electric bikes, unless you are over 60….oh I am 🙂

L’Équipe really did hype things up about Bardet…

“He must conserve his second place or, better still, take advantage of Froome’s failings to rip the yellow jersey from the Sky leader’s shoulders. Romain Bardet has no choice but to pull off an exploit on the streets of Marseilles.”

…..so much pressure on Badet, who in the end was lucky to hold on to third.

He was a great rider to watch, along with Dan Martin….will miss Bertie tho 🙁

Yup….thanks so much for the info Lunge and all the time and effort you put into it 🙂

Plus a big up for CyclingTips, a brilliant collection of photos, the best road cycling site.

Can’t wait for the Vuelta, especially if its in Northern Spain.

    Pro Lite Revo A21W

Bearings on rear wheel went in under a year, contacted supplier via Wiggle who thought that my use of Muck off was to blame, I don’t spray it into bearings!. I hadn’t even used them for cross, as I have set of Cosine wheels which are cheaper and seem on the whole better, problem is Wiggle no longer sell them.

Some amazing riding….plus French countryside which I never tire of looking at.

Porte’s crash was horrendous, was he trying to replicate Froome’s inside line overtaking manoeuvre from the Dauphine?

Great to see Uran win a stage

    I had years of this!

I have the Prolite Revo’s….which also ate rear bearings, in under a year (it seems it was because I was using Mucoff, but you don’t spray it into rear bearings!!)! Also run Wiggle brand, Cosine wheels for cross which were much cheaper and longer lasting, unfortunately they have stopped selling them 🙁

    +!

You should never drink any beer from a bottle/can though,
    1) it’s too fizzy
    2) you miss out on the aroma which impacts your perception of taste, which is why most people will tell you beer tastes nicer from a keg, it’s the same beer as the can/bottle but it’s in a glass. Cask is a different matter, but that’s not lager.

I used to always run slim shims (think they were Specialized)….but adjusters on newer shifters make it so much easier. Remember seeing some of the pros at the time just cutting shaped plastic to fit between lever and body.

Brilliant event, the weather was great and the tailwind helped. Saw lots of fat tyre riders puncture, also cross bikes seemed to suffer. Maybe they were all running tubes as there were some nasty bits of exposed rock on gravel areas.

Shame about the log jam on first bit of singletrack, second lap was clear.

Weather report for full sun and 15mph tailwind on the beach….nice

First time for me, ride area as I’m local, beach is great on a cross bike, but it’s a mtb for me….hardtail
26er, I’m dinky or should it be corgi as we are in Wales.

I’ve had Juin (cable operated hyd) discs for just under a year and the only rub I get is when I shift between wheelsets. But you can adjust bite….no problem with wear!

Maybe I’ll get one for my 68th birthday next week….no way!

I’d rather use my own body to propel my mtb.

I think e bikes are great to get people out of their cars but I really can’t understand why a fit and healthy (so called mtb enthusiast) would ride one!

    Def with ‘butcher’ on this:

‘…the creation process (the journey to get there) that I get excited about’

But bike’s are too addictive…now lusting after a new cross (type) bike, those Niner RLT’s do not help.

    It never ends….68 in 3weeks 🙂
