Depends really. If the weather’s good then something like the height of Skiddaw. Sometimes even if it’s not. There’s a lot of stuff to go at!

Had some SixC for about 3-4 months before the pedal inserts unbonded. First ever set of carbon cranks for me, first ever set of failed cranks too. They were warrantied no questions and I upgraded to alu Turbines.

Four months use and on the third chain swap two of the alloy sprockets are worn enough to slip. The outer two alloy and all the steel sprockets are still ok.

My 2p is that there isn’t a bad way off, even Keppel Cove is good if you just want to go fast. I find that from the summit south over Dollywaggon then Grisedale valley is an amazing experience and is my favourite way down. Another thing – I am a long way from being the fastest rider I know but thanks for the kind words.

I’ve only had one scandium frame so hardly an extensive survey – but my ’06 Kona Kula Supreme is the Frame That Refused To Die. Just under 3lbs and lovingly abused for 5+ years.

Gearboxes. Yes please. How’s the Pinion panning out anyone?

“How do you find out of the saddle climbing/the slack head angle?”
No problem at all, the nicest suprise I had was just how well it climbs.

I have a bad case of New Toy Syndrome. It’s a great bike and an addictive ride. I chose raw to see the engineering

The frame is long and low, with a pretty slack head angle. The power transfer is immediate through the extremely stiff rear end. ‘Precise’ is a good one-word description of this bike. Even so, with a 2.35+ tyre, it does not particularly beat me up any more than any other hardtail I have owned over long day rides.

The bike is stable at speed – it feels like a full suspension frame, until you hit a rock. The angles help it descend whatever with confidence. I run the chainstays as short as possible so it is agile at low speed and easy to pop up the front end. Any downsides? Not so far – it does exactly what it should.

1. Can’t help you on your colour choice 2. 160mm, and don’t worry, climbing won’t be a problem 3. Mines running Rev 150s, 2×10 4. No experience of either. It’s a fab bike

Notes on adjustable bearings – applies to bushings equally

Don’t let the bushes put you off. They’re no bother – just keep on top of adjusting the preload, which takes no time at all. Oh yes, and wheel size – myself I’m hoping that 650 is 650betamax but that’s just because I own a lot of 26″ kit and just got a new 26″ bike. Ride whatever

My experience of BOS is that they are as fallible as any other fork – but their service backup is a different league of bad.

They felt good for the first 4 months though.

Certainly haven’t ridden enough to say which ones are amongst the best. But I did enjoy Capel Mounth to Glen Clova for sheer speed and fun

Cheap chunky YKK zip off eBay or Amazon – can’t remember which exactly – then a DIY job with a needle and thread. I say DIY – in my case it helped that my girlfriend was generous with her time…

3L here, it’s a great bag made even better by replacing the fashion-over-function water resistant zips with proper chunky non water resistant ones when the former inevitably wear out

I had the same after a crash caused something in my knee to rip and afterwards it locked up intermittently. My experience was extremely positive – walking pretty much straight away, riding not long after ie c.2 weeks (but tentatively at first). Pre-op the doc said the same to me – it’ll be 2 weeks before driving – but that didn’t match with what happened afterwards.

Running took longer. About 20 months before I could run more than 30 minutes without a dull ache appearing.

Blower – yes that’s me. ‘the guy from the lakes’, not the ‘pissed up drugged up welder’. Just to clarify

The broken Mega chainstay somewhere up there ^^ in the thread was mine. Glad it failed during a slow part of the ride. I could not fault the way the bike rode, just seems I was unlucky with the batch mine came from. Anyway I am pleased to report the warranty was handled without any fuss or bother by Hotlines.

Loving mine. My thoughts so far are posted here. Just packed it up for the Alps

Accu – large. I’m 6’1

Trout – think rocks. It’s a great challenge to ride, steep steps on Dollywaggon and then a good run out down Grisedale. Always feels epic – and the ride from summit to the top of Dollywaggon is ace too.
Better when not windy.

3 rides in now. Impressed so far. Yet to commit to steerer length….
Went exceptionally well both up Keppel Cove and then down Dollywaggon / Grisedale today, though the coffee from the chaps selling from their tent at the top may have played its part in the latter

Bought a second hand one myself this year. Seriously quick bike – loves corners, the travel although short really finds grip for you. If you go for it consider running 100mm at the front. It’s more than just a race bike

Don’t completely write off the bridleway on the right hand side of the river as you go down Langstrath – it’s a great challenge and well worth a look, just of a different character to the track on the left.

The return descent of Far Easedale to Grasmere is just sublime. You’ll pretty quickly forget the pain of the carry past Lining Crag…
