    Nope, we originally looked to go through a surveyor for the party wall agreement but as they company we was looking into to produce the document said they was legally obliged to let us know that we could use the government template which would meet the requirements we did it ourselves. In the temple and additional literature there is no requirement for wittiness for the document. I will be going to citizen advice as well but wanted to make I wasn’t sound made or storkage

    For 6 hours I wouldn’t bother leaving the air port, just chill out and take a walk to stretch the legs and get some proper non air plane food. I have been to San Fran before and while I did enough some parts of the trip its decently not a return to place either. I’ve had a 4 hour stop over before in Dubai and it past quick enough

    Clio 172, either the mk 1 or early mk 2 before they turned into the 182. They aren’t as sort after as the 182 or 192 so prices seem alrigh for cheap frills. Most parts will still be cheap as lots of clios were around in shopping car form. Just lots of rust (but that goes with any old car).

    Less sensible, guy at work has just bough a citron roselie for around 2 grand but is a project. Nice way to potter around in in summer

    Fiesta zetec s mk 5 came as a 1.6, the puma came as a 1.7 (as well as 1.4) with the racing puma 1.7 at 150 bhp (this is the engine that would be transported into fiesta given half a chance over the standed 1.7).

    Skoda fabia vrs, they have a cult following in the vw scene. Small and fun and will be cheap to run being a deiseal.

    I think the biggest problem with any future classics is unless you bough a one owner or low mileage example to keep the originality there you will struggle to get something that will go up in price. And a year is not a long enough time to get the price to jump. Find something you want because you want it and enjoy it for what it is.

    Fast, cheap, reliable. Pick two.

    Honda S2000 are from £10k in a very ropy condition, £18-20k for anything very low mileage and looked after

    Old work colleague picked up a manual NSX for around £18k in 1998ish, keep looking at what they are worth now, £100k for the right one. It was a dry weather only car.

    It sounds like you just want some that you can have for a year or two and not loose any money on. As others have said the RX8 are very cheap because of the engine rebuild bill when (not if) it goes wrong. If you wanted a wankle engine the RX7 is the way to go though prices are going up.

    If you wanted a 2 seater sports car mx5 is always the answer on a budget. If you want something a bit more special and sporty a early boxxr is your answer. If you want something that is more looks and a nice engine noise look at at Alfa’s or TT V6 (I have a mark 2 3.2VR6, same engine as a golf R32 but spent £5k less for a similar aged and mileage condition. I think the TT is more special in looks and substance with aluminium panels).

    If you want something that will go up in value look at hot hatches like saxo VTR or pug 106 or Clio 182.

    As others have said fox basically does 32, 34, 36, and now 38 (2020 was when these were introduced) single crown forks and 40 duel crown forks.

    They then been 3 levels of fork, either factory (kashima coated stanton, grip 2 (high and low compression damper adjustment) or Fit 4 (3 way compression damper adjustment)), performance elite (standard black coated stanton, only Fit 4 (3 way compression damper adjustment)) and performance (standard black coated stanton, Fit (only 1 compression damper adjustment). There also the rhythm which is an OEM fork but gets very good reviews and now makes up the design for the Mazizochi fork range.

    You can buy some forks in in 4 levels (the 36 for example) while others will be more designed to the lower end (32 and 34) or higher end (38) damper set up.

    To add to the fun there was a time before boost where the 36 could come as quick release 15mm x 100 thrul axal or bolted 20mm x 110 thul axal but could be converted to bolt 15mm x 100 thrul axal.

    I would say if getting fox aim for 36 if you can find what you are after as you can upgrade the damper unit at a later date easier than the 34 and they are less flexy. Very early 34 also had very rubbish grip 4 dampers and soon got changed in design the year after (though they can be upgraded. Other than that make sure that you are buying a well regularly served fork and it will carry on being used for years to come

    5.9” and ride a nicolai geomatron in longer (medium) with a 500mm reach. Have to run a 32mm stem and have the seat pushed forward but feels very comfortable once on it for the ups and downs

    I’ve put another order in with Kona UK for a Honzo ESD, should be in the UK for March so will see what happens.

    Have gone from a trek stache 29er running 120mm to a marino custom 29er running 150mm, the trek was a trail bike with a lighter set up and less rugged set of tyres on it. The Marino has wider rims, downhill casing tyres and 4 pot brakes which made it great for more extreme riding without worrying that I might break something. Like any LLS bike you have to change your riding system to get the most from them

    We have just extended our least from 67 years up to 999 year. As others have said anything under 70 years makes mortgage lenders twitchy is I think it’s a bit stupid if the mortgage is a lot shorter term. We have had a bit of fun and games due to the lease was originally a freehold for the whole building and was bought by the at the time tenants to become a lease hold (the idea being to be able to own the lease of building if you own one of the properties). This would cut the cost from £25-30k down to just solicitor fees of £2k. But because the leases were not extended straight away there is potential to pay capital gains tax. Most solicitors don’t know about this but thankfully a family friend specialises in this and is able to apply for a change in documents with the IR. One flat has been changed which has set a president but the next flat was rejected. Covid as slowed up the process better IR, solicitors, and (in house) management company. Because ours wasn’t done at the same time as the other flats a few years prior and before we found out about the tax we personally might get our own tax bill over the management company (that I am part of as being a flat owner) tax bill.

    If I could give any advice to anyone, try not to buy flats

    You get kitchen or even better bathroom paints in limited colours that resist dampness. Have done my bathroom ceiling in it and never had mould grow on it and that has no window in it for ventilation (just fan)

    Epping is a maze, it’s definitely more oriented towards a hardtail rather full sus. There are some more technical trails with jumps, drops and berms in the north parts above high beach but don’t expect wales. The further south you go the more flatter it gets.

    Worth getting down to Thorndon or Danbury which are more technical though a lot smaller

    Wasn’t too bad over Thorndon last night, might have to miss Epping this week if it’s that wet.

    Other options that I’ve done a few times is canal ride from Stratford to Camden food market to Greenwich and back to Stratford. Or there is along and back the Thames itself (with a few sets of steps for good measure).

    continuity – 12-14k, would need to take into account first years ownership a little with road tax being being the issue for the larger engine cars. Gt1856 is a good shout and would just about get into price. Lotus the prices are already too high because they aren’t making anything like that in the future. Boxers worry me with running cost because of getting to the engine being mid mounted.

    Slowoldman – you are on to my plan. In all honesty she’s more than up for something a bit silly as her car purchases have only been the triumph and a jeep rangeler that she used for off roading.

    Wildfire3 – good to here your experience of the 3.0 z4, it’s definitely on the short list. Think I would go for vrx2000 over a lotus as prices haven’t done the same jump yet. Think they would be a bit too raw for everyday use but very good on fuel because they are so light.

    Alpin – as much as I like miata’s I think the mk1 and 2 will be a bit too old and more of a project car. She has a triumph Herald which fills that gap and is definitely not suitable for every day use (especially at night or winter). My 3 and 4 could be work a look but know they still have rust issues.

    Thisisnotaspoon – I have to laff at your suggestion, buy an electric car to save the plant or import a car from the other side of the world. Either way, an electric car won’t currently work for us for charging with living in a flat with parking spot too far away (once we move, might be a different story). Will be doing long (250+) journeys to see family and again no suitable charging options there. I work in the power industry so get to know what is happening regarding EV car and renewable energy supply. It’s a no from me, hydrides are an option but I still think battery technology and disposal is an issue.
    The new beats in all honesty I quiet like but think it will be too expensive to buy with cost of parts being an issue.

    Team slug – see above. Don’t think it will work for winter with its open cockpit. She would rather have a motor bike if she wanted the open feel.

    Tomhoward – can people stop taking pictures of cooling towers when taking picture at power stations, I know they look dramatic but they aren’t the end that gives off any pollution.

    Guy at work clocked his car just before selling it, he had forgotten to get it MOTed it for a year or two so thought it would be a good idea as increase of mileage wouldn’t show up but could easily claim it was SORN because of covid etc

    I have run a rock razor and a minion SS for a while before moving over to an aggressor. It’s the better all rounder with a lot more breaking grip than a full semi slick. Still not going to be as good as something a lot more aggressive like a dhr but will roll a lot quicker

    I had a bit of fun a few years back when I was finishing up my apprenticeship in engineering. The company was in financial difficulties so wasn’t taken on any of the apprentices but was more than willing to offer a very short term contract for the yearly shutdown. Half way through I’d got a job offer so had to had in my notice so went up to managerial offices to see the maintenance manager and talk things through (and to leave on good terms and see if they would consider me at a later date). He was not there so had a long think about how to see next. Just then the site’s manager came up to me and said he wanted to speak with me in his office (he was a right p****k, short man syndrome, there to work and not make friends (his quote), no one like him in the company. “When a manager says good morning to you you’re excepted to say good morning back”, I was really puzzled by this and only realised what he was on about after I’d left the office – I’d clearly not heard him but he thought i’m blanked him on purpose. Que me walking back in to say I might as well give you this (my letter of resignation – he was not impressed). Not only was I walked off site pronto, no one was a load to talk about it and he spread rumours that I’d been aggressive to him and swore at him – anyone that knew me all said it was bo**ocks. Wish I’d got a solicitor in involved for defamation. Changed jobs again shortly afterwards of which new company knew people at my old company, still got a glowing word of mouth reference

    Me and the misses are in a similar position but we are having fun and games with doing a lease extension that will make us liable to capital gains tax due to the delay between the buying the lease hold of the building and the extension of the lease (long story). We either sell and take a price hit if we sell now if we make new owner liable, or we take that liability even when we might not be the future owners. The issue is we haven’t got a confirmed price if any to pay. Anyway, we have planned to keep the flat on as it’s not the time to sell to first time buyers because of covid. If we sell within 3 year you can claim second stamp duty back, if everything goes well with renting we won’t sell till retirement time in 25-30 years time. Happy to do long term rental without price rises every few years if the tenants are good tenants (house prices rising will be more than enough for us).

    So I have had my Thule roof rack on my seat Ibiza Cupar and now on my seat lean fr diesel. I would always recommend going for a set of thule roof bars and rack over see suckers or tow bar for a number of reasons

    Fits pretty much all bikes with ease – getting more modern bikes with boots spacing or stupidly long & slack bike on a tow bar is a complete pain. Have to be padding between the bikes and I have to let air out the tyres. 1 minute to fit a bike with plenty of space between.

    Security – see suckers don’t actually lock on to anything so you can’t leave the car unattended at all. Roof rack and tow bar you can lock them to the car and bike to the rack. I tend to chuck a cable lock on to add as a deterrent.

    Fuel efficiency – yes it does drop a little when not in use and a bit more with bikes on but it’s still quick to take the racks (leave the bars on) if you are that worried (3 bolts per rack). If in doubt charge fuel to passengers helps a lot if running 3 racks.

    Height barriers – the only draw back that I can think of that may limit where you can park but all trail centres i’m been it’s never been an issue (getting mcyD or Tesco or costa drive through might be out the question). A tow bar rack might still limit car space because of the length of vehicle and be an issue with scrapping on sharp inclines.

    No dirt in the car – nice summers day is one thing but winter riding will make a complete mess of the car even with a rhino mat. The extra space in the car makes life a lot easier and makes making a box of tools just sitting there not a worry on the bigger days/road trips.

    Transfer between cars – cost £30 for new base plates

    For reference, i’m 15 years into riding just flats but 2 years ago picked up a set of clips for my hardtail – not for efficacy but for staying attached to the bike on the rough stuff. Swopping between the two isn’t a problem though do find riding thing blind changed my confidence and how much I would attack the trail

    I’d say the first thing to do is practice bunny hopping as this will make riding so much more enjoyable if you use clips previously because you could bunny hop.

    Next practice dipping your heals to aid grip on pedals on steep or rough ground

    Forgot to say I run a double down maxis aggressor tyre. Don’t think I would go for an evo caseing but would go evo plus (they don’t make the aggressor in the size I want in evo plus)

    I’m light at 10.5st and ride mostly in sunny south of England soil but have taken the hardtail with a rimpack in the rear wheel to wales. I would normally run 20psi but have been able to drop down to 15psi even with Welsh trail center trips

    Got a mk 1 geomatron and have had it for a few years now. Nose done seats tend to aid comfort on your junk because the stretched out riding position means weight is evenly distributed between your arse and hands (fine it very difficult to ride no handed now). The angle of the seat takes the pressure of your junk in the normal climbing position, flatter rides can be a bit more uncomfortable if you don’t adjust the seat.

    As for weight, most nicolais are are 15 but that’s a ‘weight break/downhill tyres’ build but be surprised how well they still climb (mate does 4000ft/30miler most weekends on his)

    I’m spent the last 15 year work in heavy industry having scaffolding (aka tubaler engineers) put up so I can do mine. Generally they were all hard works and nice guys if rough around the edges (though definitely a case of would rather be on their size than against).

    Learnt two things about scaffolders. Them and lagger are two industries that don’t do background checks so get people with people with criminal records. Secondly, (learnt this from the mother in law who was in mental health) scaffolders have the highest intake of cocaine per head of any career.

    Fit, then features for me. I know people want different features in a helmet but I am happy with bell chin bar equipped dh because of the extra protection but only for when you need it, rest of the time just a normal helmet

    This is a genuine and hopefully a conversation question rather than argumentative one, but at what point does someone because British (or any other country) after they moved to another country?

    I mean this if you take my family arrangement, my brother moved over to the US over ten years ago, he’s now married to an American (American Malaysian) and has now got two little ones. He did have a green card before getting citizenship (due to it being easier for travel and legal matters, definitely not for the taxation). He had to give up British citizenship but I would still say he’s British in his ways, accent, valves.I would always say in conversation that he’s coming home (even though his home address is in US). His boys are American, that’s where his was born. His wife is American Malaysia because she move as a child and has spend more time in the US. Citizenship is different to race.

    Jean is a complete racists, it was not a conversation, it was a rant. I have Dutch (and a bit of french in there as well) blood in me (and a funny long name). I will always get people asking about it and where I come from but would never feel comfortable asking someone about their background because I feel it would come across as racist – I do however think this needs to change to help change how viewpoints.

    My partner parents are Irish (so generally don’t beat around the bush), the mother in law worked in the NHS and would always worked with a mixed group of people and would always get a few clients that would say they didn’t want to be seen by a foreigner. Imagine there shock when she’d start telling them that you guess you don’t want to be seen by her either.

    Local place near me is doing something similar. They contacted one of the jump sites near by for advice (think it was b1kepark that operate rogate and s4p) and got lots of good advise – for insurance they use farmers insurance as they understand the risks involved and aren’t put off so cost is a lot cheaper (something like that).

    I’ve got a 3 door/coupe 150bhp 2.0 diesel, had it as a company car before leaving and buying back. 3 door doors are longer than the 5/estate (they are same size doors). If I had the choice I would of gone 180bhp diesel but more than happy for normal motorway miles and over takes. Would buy a equivalent golf as spec tents to be worse and cost higher as a whole.
