Daily disposable contacts are the answer.

And get some nice sunglasses to keep the dust out.

Or just use electronic transfer – don’t need anything other than some sort of embedded chip and then a reader can deduct money from your bank a/c when needed

Don’t we have this already? Isn’t it just a switch card?

When you said bust I thought you meant credit crunch bust.

Oops. Sorry I should have been clearer.

I suspect Amazon’s business model is more robust that some more conventional retailers.

    I doubt they’ll be next.

    Nope, it’s just you.

Oh. Perhaps it’s a Safari problem.

    Thanks for the responses

    This is a confusing story.

So what the French refer to as ‘colin’ is a different fish? So why are we using it?

In my experience GPs are reluctant to stop people driving.

My parent’s neighbour is virtually blind and his GP signed him off to drive.

You need to have a tough conversation with him which it seems you are prepared to do.

    Good luck

Did you have a particular watch in mind?

    I’m still watching Lost.

I don’t know why, but i’ve invested far too much time to stop watching it now.

I’m the same. Not that I’d ever admit it.

I think I can beat all the above.

A quick search on Wikipedia reveals I went to the same school as :

Sabatier isn’t a brand name so the quality is very variable.

Henckels or Wusthof are both good conventional looking knives.

I would avoid getting a big set of knives that contain knives he’ll rarely use. How often would he use a boning knife? Does he need a carving knife? etc

Get one or two cook’s knives. Say a 16 cm blade and a bigger one. Then maybe a small vegetable one.

I misread the original post last night so I was surprised to see Gee Atherton’s naked chest when I was expecting Rachel.

Obviously there were other compensations elsewhere on the page.

I’ve been a couple of times. The last time about 4 years ago.

It’s impressive from an engineering point of view.

The plants outside of the greenhouse need a few more years to establish themselves. Unlike Kew but then they’ve had a hundred year headstart.

I thought the food was good.

    Heligan is great.

Strolling round looking at the Gaudi buildings. La Pedrera was my favourite

Eating tapas on a boat in the harbour

Hekelopters are, as they have spinning ‘planes’.

    Technically true.

Didn’t someone post an X plane earlier on? That’s just a rocket as well.

I was always fascinated by the slightly unusual aircraft. Just being the fastest was a bit dull.

So I liked the Harrier and the A10.

But if we’re talking the ultimate Cold War flying machine then it has to be…

I buy the separate ingredients as well. It takes 5 minutes to load the machine.

I find the ready mixed packets taste funny and are expensive.

I gave it to a jeweller in Halifax who passed it to Omega

If Omega serviced it then you do have reason to complain to them. Did you get any paperwork from them which might give you a clue who to contact?

    Panasonic SD-255 here.

It’s the same as the SD-254 except it’s got a timer so you can have fresh bread in the morning.

We’ve had ours for about 18 months and since then we haven’t bought bread from a shop.

Really tasty bread. Normal size slices but the loaves are a bit short if you have a large family.

Did you have it serviced by Omega in Switzerland?

If not your complaint is with the jeweller. Have you tried trading standards?

I used to get this a lot.

I lived at 7 Squeeky Crescent.

I used to get the post for 7 The Crescent. Mostly because they decided to call their house Squeeky!

Moving house sorted the problem. Hope that helps. :-)

A few years ago I would have been suggesting Sigur Ros.

But now it seems every BBC documentary has to include them.

    Other suggestions would be:

    The Handsome Family
    Lambchop

    How about:

The Sigur Ros one translates as “with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly”

I have a Rolex Submariner…its consistantly poor at accuracy …Its a certified chronometer

A certified chronometer should be accurate to within 4 seconds a day I think. If yours is a lot worse than that it may be worth getting it serviced.

I’ve got a couple of nice watches. A Panerai and a JLC Reverso.

Both cost a couple of grand but I don’t consider them an investment. For one thing I actually wear them rather than keeping them in a safe.

I bought them because I like watches, particularly from an engineering point of view.

And neither watch is any better at telling the time.

True. You’re probably on safer ground with an older higher end model.

Just to balance out Solomanda’s comments I’d say do almost the exact opposite.

Certainly spending more of the budget on the source has always worked best for me.

Anyway the best bit of advice is always listen to the equipment you’re going to buy. Preferable in the system you will be using it in.

I had pondered putting Bose cubes up in all 4 corners

Generally it’s best to avoid putting speakers in the corners. Most speakers are designed to work best close to a flat wall. Too close to the corners will give rise to distortion.

Although the Bose cubes may have been designed like that.

My last crash was on the road.

Downhill on a winding muddy road. Suddenly a Land Rover was blocking the road. Grabbing the brakes made me start to skid so I released the brakes and tried to avoid the car.

Unfortunately I clipped the verge and went over the bars. Somehow I finished up behind the Land Rover without touching it.

Total damage: a sprained wrist and really bad cramp in both legs.
