Just checked mine and the springs are in the middle hole.

Although without brake studs you’re a bit stuck.

Having said that you can probably get away without brakes until little lister has got the hang of balancing.

The man it belonged to was a genuine hero

Was he a pilot by any chance? I only ask because pilots’ watches tend to have magnetic shielding.

I don’t know the name of the company but a lot of those old brands went bust when everyone decided quartz watches were so super. Later on the brands were bought up but with no link to the original firm.

Somewhere like TZ-UK would be a good place to ask more questions. Obviously photos will help.

Simply take it to the home delivery desk,

Agreed. Often it’s next day delivery.

If you’re getting wardrobes it’s the only way.

Are Evans still doing OEM ones cheap?

    Not that I could see.

Thanks for the advice. I think I’ll go for SLX from Merlin.

If it’s that good, without going back to look at the link, and without going to the site again……… What was the name of the company/shop?

Casu marzu cheese – has live maggots wriggling around inside it – eww!

As did a lot of cheese historically before the Health & Safety Police had their way.

in one of the first references to Stilton cheese, in 1772, novelist Daniel Defoe took note of “mites so thick around it that they bring a spoon for you to eat the mites with, as you do the cheese”

Oh and Sweetbreads are the thymus glands and pancreas glands of lamb, beef, or pork. They are not testicles.

Brilliant quote from him after making it.

I’m confused about these comments about the cheesecake being too heavy.

Surely that’s what it’s meant to be like. A solid calorific lump.

Light and airy is just wrong.

Wagamama do a very nice White Chocolate and Ginger one. It’s served with a chilli toffee ginger sauce

    ps…matthewjb your garage looks amazing!

Thanks. It’s less tidy now. It could do with a clean out.

I built the workbench from these[/url] plans. Quite easy to do. The local DIY shop cut the wood to size and I just screwed it together.

International Garage Floor paint is what you need.

I used a tin and a half on my single garage. I think it was about £20 a tin.

What brackets for the bikes are you using matthewjb?

I got them from eBay. They were about £15 for 5. I can’t remember the brand.

International Garage Floor paint is what’s needed for the floor. It includes bits to provide a grippy surface.

I managed to paint mine without emptying the whole garage by moving things round.

Any cheap white emulsion works for the walls.

    How easy to clean…

I’ve got the Gaggia version and it rinses itself clean with hot water if you leave in unattended for an hour or so.

And the brew unit and other bits slide out for easy cleaning. I suspect it stays cleaner than most manual machines.

Another vote for an IXUS here.

Mine’s an 800 with image stabilisation.

It’s a few years old but takes surprisingly good pictures given the operator.

I had lots of Lego. Mostly odds and ends.

Then finally I got my first big set. The car…

As others have said it was a really impressive piece of kit. Reclining seats, suspension, working gearbox and engine. It took a couple of hours to make.

My son loves Lego now. Some people may think all the movie tie-ins are devaluing the brand but I’m not so sure. Not now that I’ve seen the Star Destroyer. Very impressive.

ne of the most amazing moments was after they went on a family pic nic

    That shocked me as well.

I’m sure you could play a good drinking game with Mad Men, having a drink every time the characters have one. A bit like with ‘Withnail and I’. Although I think you’d last about 5 minutes.

How about presenting the data as different size pencils?

Or a background linked to each department? Maths, science etc..

Matthewjb, not read Look to windward yet

It’s my favourite Culture novel. Less geeky spaceships but a great story.

Culture ships for sure. Not sure orbitals count as they are constructs that are stationary, and I can’t rememeber if they have a Mind in them.

They definitely have Minds. The one in ‘Look to windward’ used to be a Ship.

While searching for pictures of Culture craft I found that ‘State of the Art’, one of Banks’ short stories, has been made into a BBC radio play.

    I downloaded a copy here.

Spaceships what don’t appear in a visual form, in a film or owt, don’t count. If it ain’t in a pic, it ain’t allowed.

    Fair enough?

Seems a bit arbitrary to me.

A Imperial Star Destroyer is impressive but so is one on The Culture’s Systems Class GSVs. 200km long! I just can’t find a picture.

I did find this one of an Orbital though. 10,000,000k in circumference!

Why has no one said ‘The Millennium Falcon?

Although there are many of Banks’ Culture Ships I could go for.

Sleeper Service is a good one.

Partly inspired by this thread and partly by a visit to a friends, I spent Saturday digging over the garden and putting some spare wood to good use.

    The outcome was this:

Today I planted them up. The nearer one has rocket and radishes. The far one has courgette, beetroot and cabbage.

I’m hoping the spot I’ve chosen is not too shady and before long there will be some nice veg to eat.

    Obviously you would avoid Faliraki.

Lindos is nice. The Lindos Mare is very relaxing. “An atmosphere of discreet luxury…”

We stay at a campsite on the coast – Camping du Letty

I’ve ridden past many times. It’s a lovely area. Lots of good cycle routes.

We generally get the ferry to St Malo. The cabins are worth the extra cost over the reclining chairs.

    We stay near Benodet

Lots of quiet backroads to cycle on. Quiet beaches

It’s about 90 minutes drive from Roscoff. A bit more from St Malo.

on ebay i think if people have a good record you should try to trust people

Fair enough. Just make sure you insure it when you post it so you aren’t left out of pocket.

I’ve not done that route but I’d recommend Brittany Ferries.

Very comfortable cabins and as Stoner said the food is great. eg They ask you how you want your steak doing in the self-service restaurant. Not something you could see a British company doing.
