Stuck my crossmark on this week and all is fine so far.

Have you checked the seat collar isn’t too tight either? I had the same issue when I first installed it. Make sure you use carbon fibre paste or similar and not grease.

Had an Orange Crush which i ran with big tyres and low pressures, with a carbon post and decent saddle..but every ride left me feeling sore all over for a coupe of days. Moved to a trek Ex8 last year and it was an instant hit…but really missed the instinctive, interactive ride of a HT so got a Soul.

The difference between comfort levels with the orange was massive and in fact I prefer the Soul to my Ex8 too!

KMC X10L chain from Wiggle….wrapped in some German catalogue pages? They appeared to come from the outdoors/bike section tho!

Only 280g for £20…my SLX chain was 370g for £18

Aaaah…correct pack of 2 (though I got a pack of 10 from Amazon for £13).

+1 KMC powerlinks…Think you can get a pack of 10 from vanilla bikes for a tenner.

    Edit – actually 7.99!

Let me know how you get on with talas as my one is currently fixed 120 but have 110/140 talas that I may try out.

Give me a shout if you’re interested in a brand new American Classic SS hub for your build.

And some carnations! And when did you get that good weather?!

    Are they 120/140 talas?

Very nice (although admit red bits don’t do it for me… but each to their own).

How did you run full length cables? Did you drill out the guides?

I’ve been on a couple rides on my orange one with a similar set up and was instantly impressed…totally inspires confidence and comfort levels were great.

Automaxi bars and Thule carriers – £49.99 for bars (inc postage) and if you use the discount code with AllenFord parts you could get 5% or 7% off (using either SUM2012 or TWO412) on the carriers so probably £120 = Total £170(ish)

Did exactly this with one Thule carrier and bars last year and bought another Thule last week using one of the codes (sorry can’t remember which works!).

    Edit – I lied… the roof bars for a Mondeo are £69.95 (I have a Peugeot)

Went from a sdg bel air…to bontrager evoke…to sdg alisio…to spesh henge within 2 years….finally fizik aliante gamma xm and the thing is truly forgettable. Even on a hardtail the comfort levels don’t change much.

No idea…intending to keep mine just how it is. A bloke on here did 650b to his pipedream Sirius and I think the measurements are not too dissimilar (but could be wrong).

Now just waiting for 25″ wheels to be made for especially for the vertically challenged as another marketing gimmick.

You could probably lose 300-400g with American Classic All Mountain wheelset and lighter tyres, but would cost a small fortune…like £1.20 a gram!

Actually just re-read and realise you really are looking for moon on a stick.

Must say cannock and Brockton were good Sunday morning too…back end sliding about all over the shop in the dry/dusty conditions.

The new temporary bit was a bit hairy…until I remembered to feather my braking…but still over shot the end and nearly ended up in the fence!

Tried to run them tubeless and with no luck using stans. Will be buying the tlr soon as the thinner faster option to my dampfs. If you shop around I’ve seen the tlr for £30.

I picked up a new pair of American classic all mountains for £350 at 1600g.

Saving for spank evo oozys at £370 and 1650g

    34. Still love and will use my fs when the need arises…but looking to get the technique and finesse back I seem to have lost when riding my fs.

Will not be going out anytime soon on her again…LEV being returned under warranty and my replacement post (purchased especially for this eventuality) ironically has strip the threads in the bolt housing and also needs to be replaced under warranty!

Anyone know how long it generally takes to sort out warranty issues…as I may end having to buy a 3rd post!

letmetalktomark – the forks are 120 but look elongated due to the camera angle. I do have a set of 110/140 talas’ that I may give a whirl to see how it acts tho.

Superfli – no issues with my welding…maybe yours was a bad batch (or I’m blinded by the glare from the orange colour!)?

It’s 3rd gen and running a Specialized Purgatory 2.2 on the rear.

Not tried a Dampf on the rear, but impressions are that it wouldn’t be an issue at all (as the 2.2 Purgatory are nearer 2.3 anyway). I think there is a lad on here that runs them front and rear with no issues.

The only reason I dont run one (as I have a Pacestar in the garage) is that its a bit draggy (or was on my Ex8). Planning on running a 2.1 Crossmark when everything dries out (fingers crossed), but may be too narrow (for comfort levels anyway)…we’ll see.

Correct…they were taken from my Ex8. They’re nearer 2kg and were replaced by American Classic All Mountain, which at 1600g make a big difference to the rolling weight. They actaully work really well on the Soul, just want something different…possibly the Spank EVO Oozy’s.

Can’t comment on the 456, but have heard many good things about them.

This bike is kind of a guilty pleasure and expect (been told by the missus) that it’s my last bike for at least 5 years so wanted to pay a little extra (especially seeing the re-sale value of them).

As suggested, you can use 3×10, tho I changed to SLX m670 as the left shifter can be either 3 or 2 without the expense of XT.

Got mine for £15 off pinkbike.

    DS9

    Voyager
    Enterprise

    …in that order for me.

DS9 only really got good IMO when the Dominion started attacking properly.

No pics at the minute, but the bolts appear to working themselves loose because of the amount of play.

Not entirely sure how I could have put the cradle on backwards as superstar state as its pretty obvious which way around it sits and is exactly as the KS video shows.

The seat had literally tipped backwards when I got to the bottom the descent.

Will get pics to Neil at superstar tomorrow…not holding out much of it being fixed anytime soon :(

It has ben one of the best things I have ever done…no longer get rear pinch flats which were the bane of my life at Coed Y Brenin.

If you can afford it…stan’s kit. Proper fit and forget and done in just a couple of minutes.

My Hans Dampf and Specialised tyres easily blow up with a track pump.

Only downside I’ve noticed is that the stan’s kit makes it really hard to take tyres off, as there’s less leverage due to the added strip in the centre of the wheels. Might just be my DT Swiss wheels though?

Duffer – didn’t mean 20 times a week! Meant up to level 20 gradually over the course of a month by doing it a few times per week.

I know a couple of lads that can do this test up to 20, have 10 min break and then do it again…they’re on crack if you ask me!

Do the ‘bleep’ test a few times a week, gradually building it up to 20…works for me as a basic fitness test.
