I ride my HT with same width bars as my FS, but bigger tyres for the comfy factor. I love the difference between the two bikes. With HT the ride is much more interactive as I have to choose my lines much more. With the FS…just point her down and away you go. Love them both…just in different ways.

Dont psychiatrists say the colour purple is favoured by sexually repressed people? I do know if i were to buy one then the missus would definitely make me repressed 😉

Was this also followed up with question ” why do you need more than one bike? You can only ride one at anynone time.”…in a similar fashion to “why are you shouting at the football on the TV? You do know they can’t hear you?!”

If there was a perfect all do it bike, surely we would all have bought it?!

I also have a charge scoop which looks cool IMO…but dont find it very comfy after a couple of hours even on a steel hardtail. Its being swapped to the FS for a final judgement before possibly being sold.

Pikes can be lowered to 140 i think…but cost, time etc. Think LoCo has done it with 26″ forks

When i say LBS doing it…i didnt mean all of it. On both my last two builds the bb needed facing, so got the bb installed along with the cranks. It just seemed easier and it was done while i talked to the mechanic/owner…he now lends me the odd tool so having him do little things does have its advantages in the long run.

My latest build will be done by me…bar having a couple of coloured spokes changed on my wheels as i have no clue about wheels and not taking any chances. 🙂

And as for 2 hours…try doing it a house with no room to swing a cat and an infant screaming with either colic or teething and wife that hates all things bike related! The only 2 hours i get a week is actually to go cycling!

I’d go Banshee spitfire…so when 650b hype goes into reverse you can still use 26er stuff 😉

Brant – will that be specifically 650b or will it be the best of both like the pipedream?

Any idea of likely cost, geo etc?

Doesnt sound like you need one… but is always nice to have another.

I probably ride my Soul more than anything else tbh…but that may all change on my pike endowed bandit waiting in the back of the garage out of the wifes sight 😉

Fudge – shall hopefully be receiving my pikes for the bandit within the next week….so looking forward to finally getting her fully specced the way i’ve dreamed about.

Will have to post a gratuitous pic in the New Year!

Tubeless compatible may mean you still need to use tubeless tape?

If its a new tyre i’d be tempted to install the tyre with inner tube to get it seated and strectched properly before attempting to do tubeless and seatef properly first time.

If you have a track pump then it should go up fairly simply IMO. I tend to push down on the tyre where the valve is which helps inflation for some reason?

Edit campfreddie’s way is the way i do it to with tyre lever etc

More like a 650b sneaked in during the night…causing unwanted and unwarranted harm to other bikes and their masters in their quest for world domination 🙂

If you’ve already got a clutch mech and can afford £35 for a works components nw ring then give it a try. If its not for you then flog the ring on here and you’ll only lose a tenner or so.

Yes, £500 is a lot of money for a fork, but its £100 more expensive than a slant and several hundred pounds cheaper than a fox. On looks and performance it is best in its class…im justifying the purchase by stopping smoking.

Also, with the way the market seems to be headed..it could also potentially be the best and last technologically advanced 26″ fork made…so im seeing it as a 4-5 year investment before im forced into 650b

Buying everything brand new will always be expensive but there are certain things that warrant it. Due to the kids i never now go to the pub or clubbing spending stupid money on beer, taxis and kebabs…and quite happy spending it on bike parts instead…albeit i still get great stuff on classifieds like a really good as new stem for 50% of the usual price.

I dont give a toss about what other people have or have not…my cycling is about me and my release from the mind numbing tedious day to day rat race. Just get out and ride even if its on a grifter or chopper!

Must admit im going to try and grab a 26″ pike in the sales before they stop making them so that my 26″ bandit is about as good as it can be before i think of replacing in 5-6 years time…unless they stop making 26″ tyres and then i’ll be **** regardless.

Orange Crush. Too cramped (as no in between sizes between 17 & 19 so opted for the smaller one) and a really harsh ride…no alu hardtail for me again…steel or ti all the way.
