Weevil…think ubyk have the renthals for £100?

Ordered a pair of the knuckleballs as I hate renthals colour scheme. The sixc are nearly the same weight, length and rise/sweep (that I was about to buy this morning) but are 60% more.

Seemed daft not to buy these…especially with 5 year warranty.

Used 2nd hand full build. If you get a frame on its own you’ll be tempted into expensive components…unless you’re really disciplined and it’ll end up costing a small fortune!

I’m pretty partial to my intrepid campaign shorts. Not really water proof but tough as old boots, baggy and really comfy with loads of pockets and good vents.

It’s not £230…but £114. The hagloff did look good but only L and XL.

Apparently these are pretty good for mtb’ing. Ordered one from sportspursuit and awaiting delivery. Thought this did have a hood big enough to cover a helmet (depending on how big it is…finaar finaar) and has thumb loops?

Can’t go wrong with sintered Uberbike ones IMO

EBay genuine stuff…if you can find it. Managed to get some but was quite thick but used a hairdryer to soften it and mold it. Its particular good for underneath the downtube. Think I paid £12 for 3m x 10cm and did two bikes. Lasting really well so far and hasnt really discoloured either.

Was gutted to miss this today due to the wife and little one being unwell.

Was the weather decent and were the routes good?

Slackline 631 is on a par weight wise with a bfe and similar price.

I prefer the slacklines lines i.e where the seat stays join the top tube…but the Soul is about 1lb lighter, and more expensive.

Depends on what fork your planning to run. My slackline ti was much better running 140 fork than the MK3 Soul I had.

If you can live with the weight I’d go slackline if your planning to run a longer fork.

Soul, decent weight and strong enough to cope with 3-4 ft drops…at least mine did.

Assuming its the 26″? Not sure what length forks you can run on the 27.5″

First the Mexicans, now the Argies.

Shouldn’t have provoked them…but to be fair they have been getting a bit bolshie in the last couple of year’s about the Falklands.

I used the ‘rust/shelf life’…and you got an amazing engagement ring argument to justify my frame. She still didn’t pay for it mind you :(

Compared to alu IMO, steel and ti is much better (not 15mm travel better..that’s just bollocks).

I thought my Soul was awesome, but was slightly too steep and a bit too long…but Jesus did the rear chainstay take a beating with the disc because of the flex.

This ti frame is lighter, slacker and feels just as good as the Soul…but with no chainstay damage. Running the same wheels, tyre model and pressures too.

My ti frame is 1lb lighter than the Soul it replaced, just as compliant, if not more so…and has none of the disc brake dig into the chainstay either.

After a 5-6 hour side I don’t feel beaten up like I have done with alu frames after 2-3 hours (where I can’t hardly walk the next day).

Yes it’s expensive but a good investment for the heart, head and arse!

Saved for ages to get a Stanton ti and the craftsmanship is simply stunning…and a lot cheaper than a Kona or Cove ti too.

This may sound daft, but suffered for ages with a creak. Turns out that everytime I took everything apart to find out what was wrong, I kept slightly misaligning the crown race against the bottom bearing when putting the fork back in. Not even loads of pre-load got it to sit right which is why I was scratching my head for about a week.

I was that good at 11…but then fame and fortune went the way of Corey Haim and I was burned out by 12 ;)

Been riding since 94 as a spotty Herbert on a Marin Palisades..and although my bikes have got considerably better…I can’t say the same about my style/technique or fitness. The one thing that has never changed is just being out there in the countryside, putting aside all the shit from home/work and life in general. So what if you live in the past. The past is often full of happy memories and if you want to ride a bike that reminds you of them then that’s great…keep doing it and give the rest a 2 finger salute!

Its a world of choice at the mo!

New commencals are looking quite good IMO

My choice would be in no particular order:

    Spitfire
    Process
    Aerial
    Patrol
    V4 AM

Basically stripped my bro in laws for him. First thing is ditch the fork…that 9mm fork weighs nearly 3000g!!

His now has 120 floats, 1×10 SLX drivetrain, deore brakes, tubeless crossride wheels, short stem/wide bars and spesh purgs…and I’ve managed to strip 4lb-5lb off it.

Getting a new rear shock is a PITA as they are a weird size tho.

I’d say medium would be too small…but depends on your torso/arms length etc

Fudge9202 had a mint large frame in the classifieds last week?

Book – 5’7″…but I was coming from a long TT med Cotic Soul, so I was used to a bit more XC position wise.

Running a 55mm 0 degree haven stem and 750mm 15mm rise kinesis strut bars.

First ran mine with 120 floats from my Soul, but wasn’t realising it’s full potential. Then ran some Slants at 140mm which was pretty good for all round…but then decided to get some dual pikes 160/130mm.

It’s frickin brilliant now on the ups, flats and downs!

Mine is a ti like Steve’s which is 0.5 degree slacker than a normal slackline.

Same as Graham – running a ccdb inline on mine now and much much better.

Had a fair few peddle strikes with 175mm cranks (that were stock from my previous frame) but that all changed with 165mm.

Just bought an angleset to slacken it out by 1 degree with 150mm pikes.

Size wise, my medium is a little bit tight but on the downs it makes it a hoot. Can still do 4-5 hours without issue though.

    I have:

    160/130 forked HT
    150 front/130 rear FS

Have been thinking of selling both and buying just one ‘do it all'(losing shit loads of money in the process)…but know I’d always want both and love them both, so it would just be stupid really.
