I’ve been using it since R08, self taught plus the original course. OP I’d say it depends on what you want to use it for and how often you’ll use it, as others have said getting the hang of it is easy but there’s a lot going on in the software and mastering it on your own is time consuming, if you have someone to help you out that’s great but YouTube is great for help if you don’t have support in the office. If you’re familiar with shortcuts in Cad you can make life easier by setting up the same command shortcuts (view tab-User Interface-keyboard shortcuts) and also see what’s already set & there’s a lot of overlap.
The OOTB families are rubbish, download what you need from somewhere like national bim library, plus they have the advantage of having COBie data attached if that’s your bag. Building Revit families is a whole other skill.
Don’t give up, it’s daunting when you first start but it’s been around for a long time, the additional Internet manufacturer support means it’s getting better faster, and it is the future. A month should see you tottering, 2 months walking, 6 months running, but you need to use it daily if you can.

I discarded the bottom when it failed & went with a Hope one, been peachy ever since. They do the top & bottom cups separately so I just kept the undamaged Smoothie top cup in.

Skoda Octavia 2002, 190k on the clock, about £300 the last time it went in for an MOT, but not cost a penny since, oh & I got it for free. Mustn’t grumble but the key fob needs a new battery…

FWIW you can thread the chains through an old innertube and secure the ‘tube with cable ties to eliminate metal on metal contact with the frames.

My wife’s the biggest atheist going & has worked at faith schools with no problem at all. She’s thinking of going for another job shortly in another faith school & doesn’t expect her beliefs to hinder her, I don’t think that she’s ever been asked about her faith or lack of it in an interview as it’s simply not relevant as long as you are a good teacher & can uphold the schools policy.

Great bike, frame’s responsive & F.U.N, finish can get scratched but throwing stuff down mountains does tend to damage any finish even on a steel bike. You could leave yours in the shed if you’re that bothered. Mine’s the black & red one & it still looks pretty good after over a year, in fact a die hard full suss aficionado reckons it’s the only frame that would turn him to the dark side :D

How much did you pay for them? Only asking as if it’s ‘not much’ or ‘They were a bargin!’ then what’s the issue, they are going to be marked somewhere? FWIW My cheepo RS forks work a treat & they are rusted on the back of the staunchions.

Had a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI for about 3 years, great big boot, 50+mpg & I’ve had 3 blokes, bikes & gear in it with nothing on the roof by taking off all the wheels & putting dome the larger rear seat. I think 40mpg would put me off alone, but it depends how much you need a big car, do a lot of off-roading do you?
Oh, & it’s never let me down in winter on ice – totally solid.

Sounds like you need an Architectural Technician – CIAT[/url] – from your brief description of the works it sounds like you pretty much know what you want, and just need someone to draft them up for you, an Architectural Technician will do this for you & deal with planners etc. Jambalaya is right, a builder is a good start and normally have a drafter/technician that they use if you want to take it further. Ask around your friends in the area for recommendations.

Thanks SB – I thought exactly the same. The Allotment Committee seem to be ok, but just on this simple issue they seem intransigent. I have the option of going to the council too, but am hoping a long letter will suffice (I’m crossing everything)!

Mattamoto – there’s a minc condition Charge Blender in the classifieds right now for £380 here buy it & you could still get another bike, or more likely get the parts you’ll break! HTH!!

You really won’t regret that choice, now you just need to decide on a size…
Take it easy now that you’ve made up your mind, go find a group to ride your local trails with, and ride them.
You’ll soon be learning all the gen & lingo (& skills) you need to be able to make an informed choice for your next bike (after the 456)
FWIW I find it stressful just choosing a tyre! 8O

Last night was a garage night…bike fixing and Donni Darko on the garage telly while I changed a headset and bars.

YOU HAVE A GARAGE TELLY?!!! Really?! 8O

The 456 is an excellent bike for pretty much anything you can throw at it as it’s bullet proof. My lad is 14 & when he finally gets as keen as you obviously are then that’s the bike the I’d get him. I have one & love it. The frames are always coming up on here in the classifieds, if you wanted to you could always try posting in the ‘Wanted’ section, although a 3 page thread is bound to attract a potential sellers interest…

Put 10 tons mushroom compost and 4 tons topsoil into raised beds and since added nearly a ton of horse manure and lots of well rotten chicken pooh/garden bits/kitchen scraps from the compostor.

The weeds love it, hope the plants do too
So do I after all that effort!

I’d love to know who actually bought the frames ‘full price’ – I bought mine 1.5 years ago too as I thought I’d take advantage of the ‘sale’ as I thought ‘sale’ meant that there was some sort of discount, but as far as I can tell they are ALWAYS on sale :?

I’m trying for apple trees, although I just bought the wrong rootstock (MM106, not M9 as per regulations)so am having a bit of a battle to get that sorted! I gave up planting veg due to other commitments, like biking! Fruit is so damn easy! I just put in 3 Blueberry bushes, a row of autumn raspberries & blackberries, all to complement the gooseberries, red & black currants – we still haven’t stopped eating the frozen fruit from last year, there’s nothing like a fresh fruit smootie in December from your own garden :D

Check youtube, there’s lots of exercises on there, but best go to a physio first.

    matth75

Sounds like your IT band, that always affects the outside, lower portion of the knee. Your physio should know all about it. Stretching, ice, not going to full distance on a ride, should help, mine still hurts after 6 months, but I’m crap at doing all those things I just mentioned! Which reminds me…

Unless there is a real reason to buy new then fixing anything is a good thing, well done to the OP for not just chucking their brakes out. What’s wrong with a bit of time & effort anyway?

    +1 for no camelbak

-Saddle pack for all your tools / tubes etc
-Strap jacket on to bike under handlebars to avoid carrying it.
-2 water bottles – 1 forwater, 1 for energy drinks
-Leave more than you need at each food station (I had the pi55 taken out of me when handing my bags in last year as they were so LARGE but I ate the lot ) If you don’t need it then so be it but don’t get caught out!
-3 jersey pockets & 2 short pockets = no bag required
Bit late for training now, but if you’ve done some that can only help

I can’t ever remember having to fill up my bike with fuel whilst ‘popping’ to the shops. Bikes are tiny things compared to cars, whilst there may be energy expended in their manufacture it must be dwarfed by the amount of energy used to manufacture & move a car. If someone can find out how many bikes can be made from a car I will sleep easy tonight.

‘Loved’ it last year, but then the sun was shining & it was all rather jolly. This year I’m handing back my place as a friends wedding is clashing with the event. I’m weeping even now…
So as far as the OP goes then – zilch, nada, nothing.
    Sob.
