I really like the mtb shorts (Floe) wear them for mtb and commuting 3 days a week to office, 18 months in and they still look like new.

I nipped to b&q Trafford park pre Xmas middle of a Saturday in daylight and as I parked up noticed a small car right outside the entrance left engine running and empty, I  thought that’s odd, 5 seconds later 2 men came out with a cooker threw it in the boot and sped off, it was a built in combo oven/grill so could have been used  to cook Chateaubriand bought from local smackheads?

At work last Wednesday in the office someone took my chair! I’d gone upstairs for breakfast, laptop on desk open and connected to monitor, mouse and glass of water, bike helmet and gloves on desk and bag under desk. Was fuming as the rest of the floor was pretty empty so loads of spare chairs exactly the same as mine. Some people!

Will check out Meru, loved ‘free solo’ watched at the cinema. Do we need a sports doco thread? Loved ‘big river man’.

Everytime you boil the kettle crank out some press ups or squats or do some stretches, install fingerboard above workspace door or do dead hangs or pull ups to stretch out the spine, take breaks to play with cat or as above little breaks to practice guitar or small jobs on bike and get outside at lunch.

Yeah charge port on 6a needs regular de fluffing, I broke my last one using a metal pick thankfully Google replaced free of charge after Ismash in Manchester (Google certified repairs) quoted £350 to fix my £279 phone.

Guy at work used to bring a small kitchen knife on the train with him to cut apples at work (work provided the apples) had to explain to him why bringing a ‘fixed’ knife prob just over 3in blade in a bag on the train was a bad idea especially when he didn’t have an apple in his bag, ‘but I’m not some scrote wanting to stab someone etc’. Probably on 100k + a year.

could you take the chip out of the card and have it inlaid into a sovereign ring? I realised last summer I has on the train to london for work and I’d not picked up my wallet as rarely do and also that I didn’t have a coat luckily it was nice weather and my phone worked everywhere to pay for stuff.

I was pushing the gravel bike over a frozen canal bridge last night on way home from work and could see a lad in his 20’s on an mtb riding up the other side, I thought he’s doing well then he got out of saddle towards the top his rear wheel spun and nuts/stem became one.

I’ve applied through https://octopus.energy/great-british-insulation-scheme/ as mentioned further up the thread and had an initial call after about 6 weeks just confirming a few details, has anyone gone through the full process and what did they end up paying for loft insulation? I guess you’re at the mercy of a local contractor?

My dad is 84 and still cycling with his club mid week and on a Sunday, he has even mentioned getting an ebike when he gets older! Recently retired from doing TT’s and has had to convert his bikes to flat bar as was struggling with the drops due to arthritis. Always buying bikes off FB marketplace and tinkering with them and giving them a good service/clean before selling on. 75 is spring chicken territory – good luck to you!

Sean Conway (endurance nutter) is doing it but had to stop to run 14k for his 496 challenge (add 1km to run for each day in Jan) so he got up yesterday ran 13km then 72 miles of SP before his 14k today then back on bike! https://strava.app.link/B4JRReGNlGb

    Flaperon for PM!

Don’t drive much in Manchester if I can avoid it, mainly giving kids lifts to stuff (cycle to work down canal into MCR) rarely complete a short trip in car without seeing cars ignoring red lights or someone on phone and/or speeding. Had someone overtake me in a 30 a few weeks ago they went wrong side of traffic island, little fiesta 4 up with teenage lads. If you could earn money for reporting phone drivers I’d he retired in Whistler right now. Pavement parking – Jesus every day I think wow that’s the worst parking I’ve ever seen right on bend or double parked  or all 4 wheels on pavement and almost everyday I see something worse it’s like people in my area are practicing for the world bellending championships.

Actually beat my previous 3 year old record of 3 nights without drinking but had a cold since New year’s day so that helped. Going to do weekend as well as wife now has cold 😀. Hopefully feel benefits next week once cold has gone.

Mate had a ‘fake’ vent in his 400k new build, found out when it started going mouldy round the vent and he removed the grille.

Great thanks will try the cable from amp 1st then maybe invest in the Vox if she’s still keen. She’s just picked up the guitar now as her sister has gone out.

Very mixed bag, a game of two halves, was dreading their visit and had said to wife no politics allowed. We started with MIL saying how much she’d enjoyed the GB news shows this morning, a spirited conversation followed about ‘that global warming rubbish’ with my 16 year old daughter destroying thier dogshit argument, then as I was chucking the Cauliflower cheese in the oven and contemplating stabbing them it was ‘what do you think of prince harry?’ I snapped and said I love him because of all he’s done for invictus and seems like a decent fella, totally wrong footed her, loads of erm well yes erm yes but what about Megan she was rubbish in Suits (she’s never watched it). We sat down for dinner and talked about my wife’s childhood and other stuff and laughed and toasted Christmas and they loved the food and had a lovely late afternoon, GB news has a lot to answer for, they are lovely people that have been totally brainwashed, for the first 15 years I knew them we never mentioned the EU or politics and now it’s the 1st thing they talk about :-(. Gave them a big hug as they left after a nice dinner knowing they will go home and put GB news on, very 😢. Had full new patio kit ready incase hey mentioned ‘our Nige’ as they have before. Merry Christmas all.

I really enjoyed the guitar shop visit, I knew nothing about guitars, one of the best weekend mornings for a while with my daughter, spent ages in there and she came out with exactly what she wanted rather than what I thought she might want. I’m half tempted to buy a guitar and get learning myself!

Took my daughter to PMT music shop in Salford and we ended up with a lovely Fender Squire telecaster (pre owned £100) the guy in the shop played it back to back with the cheapest new guitars they had and we both agreed it sounded better. Got a Blackstar amp, cable and picks for under £200, the guitar she’d shown me at home was almost that much so I was loving the pre owned option. The amp has headphone jack and also line in so she can play along to stuff from her phone which is cool. Loads on FB marketplace as stated but the knowledge of the shop guy was good and hearing the guitar being played well was really useful.
