We stay in Salo every year in the Euro camp place. Salon is a nice town with features to keep the misses happy. The camp pool and beaches keep the kids happy. Salo is close enough to the mountainous part of the lake to allow me to get out for rides. there are lots of paths and tracks for some good riding. The wife likes the mountains too so good for exploring by car and hikes.

I concur with Pimpmaster. I have a 2013 unit and love it. It handles brilliantly and takes anything that I throw at it. At the same time I built up an inbred 29er to ride to work on around a year ago. Found that compared to the unit the inbred didn’t have a very lively ride. Now sold the On one.

Only just seen this thread. Been to Camping weekend with Eurocamp in Salo going back for year 3 this year. You can access the mountains from Salo, loads of tracks double and single track up towards Mt Pizzocolo. Lots of riding if you get a map and have a look. More Gnarl in the top end of the lake but Salo is still good. there are some good loose techy dh routes back down from the mountains out the back of Salo.

I have one. Rides great with plush suspension action. Tyre clearance has not been a problem for me.

You can get another bike on the scheme after the 12 months is up. After that ownership reverts from your company / employer to Cyclescheme. THey buy it back for a pound. At this point your employer has recovered their outlay to purchase the bike originally. Cyclescheme extend the scheme for another two years for the one off final value payment of 7% of the original purchase price.

I’ve used them all year round. Surprising amount of grip for a summer tyre.

The only point it struggled was on a section of gloopy trail that hat been churned up by a motor cross bike. The rear is getting a bit worn now, will probably replace with another.

A good mix a fast roll and grip in my opinion.

I’ve recently bought a large in black with the Cane Creek DB shock. It’s sitting in my dining room waiting for some forks, wheels etc. Will be a month or two before it’s built up.

Like you I couldn’t find any decent reviews only one or two forum threads and a mention in the Ed Oxley vid. I pulled the trigger on the frame based on the fact that the shock is supposed to be excellent also the 2.1 tyre claim appeared to err on the side of caution to cater for diferent tyre manufacturers size variations. There is a thread somewhere that says a 2.35 tyre fits fine.

First impressions are that it is a well made good quality frame. Welds and linkages look great. I’ve not tried a wheel and tyre in it but the widest part of the stays around where the tyre sits is 82mm or 3 1/4 inches if that’s any help.

So far I’m not regretting the purchase. As soon as I get a rear wheel and tyre sorted I can update further.

I got one of these Diamondback Grit Scooter
For safety reasons of course. I have to be able to keep up with the kids when they’re on their scooters on the cycle track! Copes with my 90kgs weight. :-)

The kids have these Maxi Micro Scooter which are great.

I was told by our local plasterer that we could tank or seal the wall using a slurry mix of cement and SBR. You can paint it on the wall then plaster or dot and dab over it.

1×10 for me for the last 3 years. Was hard to begin with but now I wouldn’t go back. I Like the lack of clutter with no front mech and shifter also less maintenance. Don’t have to push at all on trail around here south Wales.

I’m doing the same in August with the family, taking the bike etc. I’ll be based in Salo. I’ve been to Limone and Malcesine without bike before so no the area. Ferrys on the lake are fairly frequent between towns. Riva is the main place for bike shops and uplifts etc. I plan to get a walking map and explore the local area north out of Salo. There are loads of tracks around. Or jump on a boat and head north to Malcesine and up Monte Baldo of into the mountains from Limone. This web site has loads of rides Garda Routes

I have a Scudo 2008 2.0 litre hdi 120bhp 6 seater combo/crew 6 speed. I’ve had it for a year. Been to the alps in it up to north wales etc. I have had no issues with it so far apart from some noisy anti roll bar bushes / linkages. It’s on 95K, 85k when I had it. Sound proofing panels and rubber / carpet flooring helps keep noise levels down. Plenty of room allows me to ferry the kids, luggage and put the bike and kit in, great for hols. It is quite fast can over take easily. Parking is ok you get uused to a van end up using mirrors more. You can sleep in it but I find it a little cramped with the seats folded foward, I’m 6ft. Better option is to fold rear seats flat and lay a board over front to back with some sort of wooden fold down legs at the back and sleep on that. Its a great van and I would get another.

Here’s my ford V6 powered landrover that I built from the groud up on a shortened discovery chassis. Coils springs disc brakes. Looked a bit ratty but mechanically perfect and fast! Took 2 years to build then sold it when expecting first child. :o(

    Here’s my 29er from eBay
Great bike had two years of use before replacing it recently with a Chinese eBay full suss carbon 29er because I fancied some bounce. The hardtail stood up to all sorts of abuse. I’d buy another.

Add Kona Unit to the list. I’ve been riding mine for a few months. +1 for winter night riding. Simple, quiet, no risk of gears getting bent or clogged up with mud. A 12 mile ride out on the SS is more of a work out than on my geared bike so when I jump on it on the weekend I’m a little quicker, stronger. It will be hard to start and don’t be afraid to get off and push.

I’m loving my 2013 unit which I’ve had for a few months. The sliding drop out design is good and with the 44 mm head tube you can fit a tapered fork. I’ve put a carbon on there which makes it lighter.

I run the scheme here at my work. I’ve had staff members get bike over a grand. You could put a £1000 on Cyclescheme then pay the shop the remaining amount. You’d only get the tax & NI savings on the £1K.

Your employer / Cyclescheme would own £1k of the value of the bike. After three years you own the bike. Your final value payment after a year would be based on the £1k.

The reasioning for the £1k threshold is that over this your employer would get into all sorts of additional hire purchase taxes and legislation etc.

We’ve been to Camping Les Fontaines Lake Annecey every year for the last 4 years Camping Les Fontaines[/url]
Great views from the site and easy access to the mountains. There are also some down hill tacks from Semnoz and lift assisted in La Cluzaz. There’s loads of good riding from the campsite south towards Chevaline Saury and up into the mountains. leave the kids and wife to enjoy the pool while you go off and explore. We drove down, saves hireing a car and can carry all kit and bike etc.

I have both the goretex socks and sealskinz. My sealskinz fill up with water. Not had problems with the goretex only that they are not hugely breathable. This has only happened in heavy rain. Trousers over the tops help. There’s also something to be said for the wetsuit affect where the sock trap a layer of water inside between the skin and sock which remains warm. Not sure whether they are designed this way. But they are better than normal socks in the cold and wet.

Kick started me into doing the first commute of the year. The need to drop the kids off at breakfast club has meant that I’ve not biked in all year. However due to being able to dodge the traffic, the ride in today took just as long as the car! I think I’ll be riding in more often.

I was carrying my little boy (then about 2 1/2) on my sholders whilst looking at an information board by a beach in West Wales. There was a couple standing behind me reading the board also. My little boy turns round and says “hello ladyman” to the couple.

Needed to build a huge retaining wall first.

    They’re great, here’s mine

Been riding it for about 9 months. I’d agree that the top tubes are a little bit short for an 18″ but some playing around with stem lengths and a lay back post and its sorted. Rides and handles brilliantly.
