Sold my 2005 5spot about 2 weeks ago.
It was great, however you can no longer get any decent forks that aren’t tapered.
If I could have put pikes on I would have kept it…..

Great program as a child…. Saw an old repeat and felt I had grown out of it…

Surely someone on here built one!?!?

Dartmoor is perfect fat bike territory. We live in Okehampton and got the fat bikes last year. It’s made the local riding a lot more fun!!

I disagree that split charge won’t keep it topped up.
I don’t run a fridge which is probably biggest drain of power for most vans. Only have lighting, eber heater and DVD player. Never had the battery die, only ever use split charge.

I have 3 12v sockets, and 2 usb sockets. That allows DVD player charging, phone charging etc…
Never felt the need for inverter and 3 pin plug, not sure what I would plug in that wouldn’t draw loads of power!
I have 2 led lights, like a strip light with built in switch for easy fitting. And a little led reading lamp in the corner.

Don’t buy a cheap split charge. I had a £20 that caused many issues. Fitted one for around £100 from eBay, no issues in 3 years.

If your new to riding go to a good local bike shop.
Depending where you are in South Wales cyclopaedia, crwys road in Cardiff are great guys.
You may pay slightly more than online, but a good shop will size is properly, help with servicing etc….
I dot think online is a great option for new riders

Oh gf has slx cassette and 40t expander. We just removed the 12t….and has been fine .
Whether that defeats the point of an expander is an argument for another thread……

First up don’t go 1×10 if you think you need easier gears for climbing.
Yes 42t expander gives you an easier gear, if you currently have a 40t run that and see.
The slx cassette first split like an xt/txt to remove your 17t sprocket for the expander to fit. You can split an slx but you need to knock out the pins holding it together.
You don’t have to have a clutch mech. Clutch will keep the chain tighter so less/no chance of it dropping and should be quieter. Again run the xt if you have it and see.
    Hope that helps!

Had a berlingo that never ran well on LPG. Could be that the berlingo was rubbish but it drove fine on petrol.
LPG guy said petrol engine had to be perfect, any rough running would be wildly exaggerated. I wouldn’t get one again after the hassle…..

I thought Ellis island was fascinating and the ferry takes you past Statue of Liberty
I did the Empire State Building at midnight, no queue and amazing in the dark!

    I would imagine its open….
make sure you allow time to drive 5 mins up the road and ride lanhydrock.
Cardinham is short so adds a bit more riding, and the dual track at lanhydrock is great fun. Was on the fat bike anyway!

Never use an iron. Don’t think I know where it is!
PE teacher so work clothes don need ironing. Everything else just gets hung up and never seems to be a problem.
My special occasion 1 shirt gets hung up and never looks like it needs ironing!

    2.4 on girlfriends bike.
I wouldnt buy a 2.2, 2.4 looks spot on width wise, doesn’t look massive, nice bit bigger than my 26″ 2.2 rq’s.

Previous years nothing was closed….I would time your rise though, otherwise some bits could be very busy.
When I rode it a few years ago gf rode around and by picking trails and timing it carfully had the rest if the centre to herself

Obergurgl booked for Easter hols. Looking for feb half term now.
We’d like lots of trees, easily accessible off piste stuff would be great, any ideas?
Channel tunnel is booked as we will be driving. We’re at val/Tignes last year at new year, found tigne fun, val a bit steep but was Icy so didn’t help.

    I would second Bardoneccia.
Check out le tour too, you can stay in/near chamonix too so lots for family holiday.
    And la Thuile.
All would be described as singletrack. Had a Great time this summer at those spots.
See my other post about the alps book, really helpful in deciding where to go

I’m sure that we missed lots of riding, and there are places we intend to go back to with proper maps. I just meant that after a day at a lot f places we were keen to keep exploring.
We rode megeve, super fun, nice warm up riding.
Le tour and le houches near chamonix, great natural riding an big mountain feel.
Le tour ride over to vallorcine was an amazing natural singletrack route. Le tour also had great bike park singletrack.
La thuile was really fun, proper bike park stuff but fun. Great black run called k2
Valloire we won’t go back too, poor signposting and trails felt like they either needed maintenance or hadn’t been built!
Bardoneccia was fun, good rest/easy bike park day
Sauze d’oulx we didn’t enjoy, some fun sections but on the whole not great
Montgenevre, really wet day and tired, but what we rode was great, from natural ridgeline to singletrack. Will be going back.

I have those books for all over uk. Makes visiting new areas really easy, usually don’t bother with a map, book is good enough.
    I would recommend it

I’ve gone through eurobreakdown.com every year for last few years.
Personally I wouldn’t go with a basic policy…. They often just take you to nearest garage.
We had a problem last year and it was great to know they would take us to a main dealer, hotel, hire car, even take our camper back for us if we needed them to. We have just paid £83.00 for 6 weeks cover. Basic was about £50.00. No brainier in my opinion.

I find my teva links really comfy to walk in.
I have the five ten walking shoes, great for walking, grippy to ride but I wouldn’t do proper riding in them…..

No ridden the on one, I bought the felt, think it looks nicer, internal cable routing is smart, forks look beefier.
Cable discs weren’t an issue as I would have swapped the avids for something that works if I had bought the on one.
There isn’t much stock around of the felt though I don’t think…..my lbs said stock was gone for the year and merlin said myself and gf bought the last 2 they had…

Riding fixed in flip flops…..that felt bonkers!
