I have 150mm sektor solo airs on my 2005 5spot. It’s great, had them on for 2 years and really happy with them. Got them pretty cheap at merlincycles…..

Agree with old nick, seeing a sports podiatrist is a good idea. Do you run with headphones? If so, stop. Listen to how you run and try to run quietly. Will probably ruin your calves for a while but should make a big difference. In the mean time try massaging a nice cube down your shin until it all melts after every run.

I think it was £1 but could have been 50p. One or t’other.
Very pleasant to use, nearly as nice as glentress showers!

    New thread….best trail centre showers?

another 05 HL 5spot owner. Best bike ive ever had/ridden. Love it. No idea what I will one day replace it with…..Got to be good for another 10 years I reckon. Only the 27.2 seatpost is annoying.

buy one of the green fairy bars of soap. Give it a scrub with that before washing, worked for some of mine.

I am constantly impressed with my BC rq’s. Except on a road section…..

Why do you think more travel would be a hinderance on the climbs?!? Geometry, suspension design and set up make far more difference. I wouldn’t narrow it down to short travel if that’s your only concern

The sprocket we had was slightly less mental than the springer we have now. Definitely less intelligent and proper fluffy. Haircut a must!!

When I first started going I wore my goretex walking jacket. I think it would be worth going into Tkmax for trousers though. Pick them up for £30 easy.

Pretty standard procedure. If they go in an ambulance a member of staff has to go with them so parents picking up is much much easier and preferred by the school!

bleed it, following the instructions exactly with the bleed kit.

then remove syringe by lever and replace bolt. Push some fluid into the caliper before quickly replacing the bolt.

worked on elixir 3 to firm up front lever

    Best all round rider imo

got to be right. If he cant ride it possibly no one can. The normal bike is what does it for me…incredible

however, just makes me feel a bit rubbish

skip cannock and get straight into wales.
nant yr arian is great – just park and stay in the carpark (have done so many times)
cwm rhaedr then glyncorrwyg for another day. Just park at the top carpark at cwm rhaedr and stay there(again have done many times!).
Gap road for sure. Coed Y brenin is great (just stay at the main carpark…theres a theme here!) or penmachno if you fancy something quieter / wilder.

actually thats a lie, its immense, makes up for the wet cold months, of which there are usually many!

hammer a screw driver or slightly larger torx tool into the end if you can.And then you can usually turn it
If you can get to part of it, cut a small slot with a hacksaw and try to tap it round.
    Failing that drill it out!!

Bikes will go widthways in my new shape Peugeot boxer with wheels on. Crew van seats 4 I think on second row of seats.

drive toward coed y brenin, just after the last village(with public toilets) before you get to coed y brenin (coming from doll) turn right, follow the road, eventually you get to a small carpark thats on the coed y brenin trails(directions sound vague but makes sense when you drive it). ive slept there lots of times. also stayed in main coed y brenin carpark lots of times.

I have a new shape peugeot boxer. SWB low roof.

As its 6 foot wide I can sleep widthways which frees up lots of space. At 5″8 i can just stand up to cook. Its my only vehicle so didn’t want anything too big. It fits in normal car park spaces (not multi storey but most vans don’t).
I have a boot for the bikes , can get 3 bikes in, if the boot was full height the front wheel could stay on but then no back windows.-
Still plenty of room in the front for pull out double bed and cooker. MWB would mean room for shower etc..

I had a similar issue the other week. I removed the pin. Bit of light grease on the outside of the pin. Sorted!

the springer should be fine, but they will go until they drop to keep up so I would agree with the go steady.

With the other comments….I dont take the dog to a trail centre. I would hate it if he was hit and hurt / rider hurt. Quiet local rides only really, I dont think its fair on all concerned when busy

try letting some air out and pulling the tyre to seat it.

Or pump up to 60/70 psi and it should pop on the rim, then let the tyre down to desired pressure. Its May now so 34.5 psi should be good.

I think this thread shows people who have worked/work in the trade and those that dont.

The tools are how a shop makes its money etc…

Not un-reasonable to not lend out tools…could have offered to do the work for you? Squeeze it in, however the job that always looks like a quick job normally throws up problems.

i bought a rust proof chain once….snapped on the first climb of first SS ride. Replaced with a “normal” chain, much better.
So in my experience they definitely do not last longer

i did what globalti just said in the end. Job done.

Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner by Dean Karnazes is a great read.

very much enjoyed Born to Run: The Hidden Tribe, the Ultra-Runners, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall

im half way through Running with the Kenyans: Discovering the secrets of the fastest people on earth by Adharanand Finn which is great so far.

All the books make me want to run crazy miles!
