    Well worth the wait!

Start delayed a further 10 minutes. I have a feeling that they may not get started at all as the the riders were already concerned about the late night dew making the track slippery.

Start delayed due to rain shower in the desert.

Looks like there could be a spot of rain for the Moto GP race.
I have a motogp video pass, at 99 Euro a year it is cheaper and easier than the BT option. All races and practice sessions are available on demand as well as older races going back to the 1990’s.

I had a video camera stolen from my checked baggage on a flight from Birmingham via Dubai to The Maldives.
This was a few years ago but I got a missing item report from Emirates Airlines and my home insurance covered it as I had specific cover for electronic items in transit.

I watch WD whilst on the turbo trainer. I sprint through the Brewer bits so I can’t hear him. Then lower the resistance for Ed’s bit. I’m either going to get knackered or stop watching it. Car SOS is now a better show.

I bought the TDR in 1991 when it was 6 months old with 700 miles on it. The first owner (aged 68!) PX’d it for something really bland as he thought it was too manic for his daily commute.
I did loads of mods to it including the following:
285cc big bore and wide spread porting by Bob Farnham
Front exhaust pipes gutted and DEP silencers
    TZR250 wheels etc.
I sold it to a good friend and am still involved with the bike. The supermoto wire wheels with fat rims are recent additions and it rolls really well on those as well as finally getting the look that I was after.

OP, it seems that you are not the only person with problems related to tight cable adjustment causing rubbing and rapid pad wear.
    Check this other cycling forum[/url]

I’ve done over 900 miles on my Shimano disc braked Hybrid and the pads are showing minimal signs of wear. They have required zero maintenance and the wheels run freely.
I think that there must be something wrong with your system rather than disc brakes in general.

Of all the things to put you off buying a chopped bike a GS750 engine is low on the list of concerns. The engine was considered bullet proof and now that Suzuki GB have started their Vintage Parts Program, bits for certain models are being manufactured again.
However, all the normal old bike engine induction and exhaust woes will be magnified on a chopped bike.

If you like WD then try Mighty Car Mods and Roadkill on You Tube. Both are more about the mechanical side of things rather than the pretending to make money.

It’s there for a reason so be careful just blocking it up. Houses need to breathe.

I wouldn’t say I was extravagant. Four bed terraced house and gas and electricity were just under £1200 in the last 12 months.
The smart meter gives me a valid reason to tell Mrs 24k to shut the doors and turn the lights off as she moves around the house
The smart meter display is next to my computer so I glance at it on a regular basis. So far today we have spent £2.54.
Ironing and hoovering now gets done on a Sunday between 9 and 5 when we have free electricty.

I’d also like to see Chaz Davies win the title this year but it looks like it’s going to be a hard fought championship with some great riders returning along with the new technical rules and the reverse grid for race 2.

Nespresso pods are all recyclable but you have to send them back to Nespresso for this.

I’d be fascinated to hear how many people actually do this.

I would explain politely at the start that your In Laws are not going to sign anything today. Ask them to explain exactly what type of product they are going to install, who is going to fit it and what kind of guarantee covers both the product and the fitting. Explain that you are only interested in their best quote and that you will being getting quotes from 2 other suppliers.
Once you have got all the quotes you can make an informed decision.

@sharkbait, you are looking at this from your perspective and I am looking at it from mine. You see only downsides, I see mainly upsides.
A massive upside for me is that my old gas meter made a really annoying pumping sound when the house was quiet and the smart meter is silent. I can also tell you from my personal experience that I am using less power since having the smart meter fitted. YMMV and all that.

Right, and this is better than manufacturing millions of new widgits [that still do the same basic function of the existing dumb widgits], shipping them around the world

You could apply this point to most updated widgits eg iPhone 6/7/8.

Smart meters do not connect to your home wifi.
The following is from Smart Energy GB

Inside your home, smart meters use their own secure, wireless network using radio waves, just like mobile phones or TVs do. (It won’t use your wifi and you don’t need wifi in your home for it to work).

Your smart meters will link to a similar wireless network outside your home. This network is run by the new Data and Communications Company, which is overseen by the energy regulator Ofgem.

There are strict new regulations and codes of practice to keep smart meter data private and secure.

I really can’t see the objection to knowing how and when you are using energy from either the consumer of providers point of view.

I built a Frankenbike out of a pile of very random bits. It has an MTB frame, forks and rear wheel with a 700c front wheel and brake lashed on. It is finished in “cack brown and grunge” and has a rear rack mostly held on with cable ties.
The most expensive component was the Abus cable lock just in case there are any really desperate bike thieves out there.

BG smart meters do not use wifi. They have a 3g SIM. I know this for a fact as the Installer had to try 3 different networks to get a good signal.

Ours adds the standing charge at midnight. British Gas, others may do it differently.

Also with BG and yes the Gas and Electricity standing charge is added just after midnight.
From my understanding Smart Meters will be compulsory from 2020 with the advantage that you can switch suppliers almost immediately.
Free electricity on a Sunday 9-5 has changed the way we use power.

I bought a Team Hybrid last year and the spec is hard to beat when they are doing special offers.

Just weighed my 2012 Orange 5 with pedals on because I need them to actually ride it. I also have a dropper on it along with a wireless computer, a neoguard, a crudcatcher and Slime inner tubes as I hate punctures.
It has aluminium bars, XT 1×11, Hope pro 2 wheels with Mavic XM719 wheels and Revelation 150mm air forks.
It weighs 30.8lb if that is important to anyone.

M520’s can be had for less than 20 quid. Not worth buying tools to fix them.
