Lazybike, you’re right temporary loss of cockney on my part. Luckily they are re running Fools and Horses on BBC1 in the afternoon at the moment so I can brush up!

Rhyming slang, Dog and Bone = Phone and a Pony is twenty quid. It used to be 25 pounds but now a twenty pound note is refereed to as a pony.
On reflection I think in this case they mean dog and pony show rather than phone them and offer 20 quid!

There are several different compounds of Nevegals. The Blue Grooves are generally an OE fit and are not the best. The Stick E compound is the grippy one and the DST have a harder faster rolling centre compound 60a with a more sticky edge 50a compound.
As with many other brands you need to make sure that you are buying the correct type for your intended use. I would be tempted to buy a Stick E and put that on the front when you are going off road.

I run the same make and model all the time, Kenda Nevegals. However I swap sizes and rear compounds depending on where I am riding and what the conditions are.
    Front is either a 2.1 or 2.35 Stick e
Rear is either a 1.95 or 2.1 Stick e but sometimes I run a 2.1 DTC which is a dual compound and rolls faster.

Have had my new bike 6 weeks, Orange 5 self build, finally got my first paint mark today. What a I relief! I can finally ride it without spending a hour cleaning and polishing it. So a you new bike people my advice is just ride the thing and look after it the same as you did your old bike.

My understanding is that a man in a mini cab was shot and killed by police officers during an exchange of fire. What hasn’t been stated yet is if the dead man was the armed passenger or the driver. It could have been the driver that was armed and his perfectly innocent passenger was killed or the reverse. They might have been well known criminal associates or completely unknown to each other. The possibilities are endless and that is why it takes time to investigate these matters. A community protest at this stage is 9 times out of 10 going to end up in violence and the local community leaders should have sort out a private meeting with police not turned up with 100 upset “friends” of the deceased.

Go for it. If you are not convinced try riding a downhill and or tight cornered section with your seat in the standard position then start again with it lowered 3 inches. You will feel so much more in control and be going faster with the seat down. Then try a climb with the seat down and you will be faster with it up.
I did the experiment and have been waiting the last 3 months for Rockshox Reverbs to come back into the UK. I have finally given up and currently have one half way between here and Germany from http://www.actionsports.de
They quote 3 days delivery and it is 246 Euro including delivery. I would rather buy from a UK retailer but there was no stock of 30.9 x 380mm at a reasonable price.

    2011 Orange 5 came with RP23
2012 Orange 5 comes with RL
Other than that the frames are the same so try and find a 2011 as the RP23 is a better shock and works really well. The Pro Pedal in effect stiffens up the initial travel of the shock and you have 3 different settings. I have mine in position 2 and flick it on when climbing.

IIRC they say no more than 50mm of spacers below the stem.
You should find the info here http://www.sram.com/service/rockshox/7,107
You need to know the specific model and year.

If you check the other items he has bought and sold in his feedback there are no bikes or bits but he has sold a PS3 and a PC and bought a 400w grow light. Looks like your typical weed smoking tea leaf.

2009 Giant Reign in a small fits 5ft 7 bloke with short legs. Plenty of stand over height but you need a dropper seat post and the seat sube has a kink in it that only allows about 2 inches of downward adjustment. 140mm fork and 6 inches of travel on the rear. They even did an extra small.

In this case it sounds like the later car with the higher mileage is the way to go. You need to look at both and make you decision remembering it is easier to give a car a “hair cut” with a laptop than it was in the old days with a screw driver.
Check out the documentation to try and verify the mileage and if possible speak to previous owners on log book or dealers that have stamped the service book. Servicing dealers will keep records of work done and recorded mileage. It is too easy to buy a blank service book on ebay and get a stamp made. I used then for a couple of saddles recently. Had a problem ordering on line so gave them a call. Very helpful and stuff turned up on time. Highly recommended.

2 hours of riding is not what bothers me. I am more concerned about being used as a berm by some Lycra clad whippet!

As much as I hate grey importing these guys have all the sizes in stock at 247 Euro including delivery to the UK. My brother got one from them in May and I have been waiting since then for a UK supplier to have stock in 30.9mm. They delivered in 3 days and I have just ordered mine as I have been roped into a team for the Brigton Big Dog.
Having slithered around the trails there a couple of weeks ago and uppy downy is a must.

I don’t understand why you are looking at 2 year deals for what is in most cases a 25 year commitment. I hope that there aren’t any fees to take this 2 year deal on. I know plenty of people that have jumped from deal to deal every 2 years, often paying for the privilege, who are worse off than they would have been staying with one long term deal.
The other thing to consider is that it is very easy to fall into negative equity when you have to keep re mortgaging. You are then forced into your current lenders standard variable rate. This is where the lender makes back all that money you have “saved” plus a big chunk more.
Get the best life time tracker deal you can find and stick with it unless you later find a better life time deal. If you must know what your outgoings are then get a fix for as long as possible.
I started out when the base rate was 11% it is now 0.5% so my payments have varied massively over the years but my flexible mortgage allows me to make under and over payments to smooth out the peaks and troughs.
I am now in the position where I am actually paying less in mortgage interest than I am getting on capital in the Building Society.
Does that make me lucky? I didn’t feel lucky when I was paying at 11%!

A Sole Trader who is in effect only billing clients for his time really doesn’t really need the additional expense of an Accountant.
The OP should have a very straight forward income and allowable expenses trail. The Tax Forms that you need to complete are all on line. If you don’t feel up to doing the on line returns then seek out an Accountant.
All you need to do is to be totally thorough with your record keeping and don’t take the Micky claiming for your new domestic washing machine etc.
I have been in this position for the last 10 years and have never used an Accountant. My tax office has given me all the advice I need after I attended an initial course for those newly self employed.

I’m the youngest of 5 kids aged 45 to 56. We didn’t have a stair gate at the the top or bottom. Should I shop my parents to Social Services ;-)
That said none of us ever fell down the stairs.

Good to hear of some one using the welfare state for it’s intended use ie getting you through hard times rather than a life long source of income. If you are starting small then it makes sense to pay your voluntary NI contributions. These are less than £3 a week but keep you up to date for the state pension. Once you start to earn more you will have to pay the full contribution. I did a really good 1 day course provided by my tax office. You will be amazed what you can and can’t claim for.
As a sole trader, just selling your skills rather than stock, it doesn’t make much sense to be VAT registered until you have to or to set up a Ltd Company.
Call your tax office and tell them what you are planning. They are there to help as well as collect tax.

You are supposed to spend 1 months salary on an engagement ring. I think this goes back to the days when people only got engaged and married once so maybe you get some slack on the amount if it is second/third time around.
I know it was a struggle to come up with that cash at the time but having just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary I will say it has paid me back well over the years. Anniversary presents? She got a handbag, I got a new Orange 5 frame. Result!

Get a job ya hippy lay about student type ;-)
Seriously there are loads of highly qualified unemployed people in the job market at present. You are far better off being employed and unqualified. The wife is working full time and has spent the last 6 years doing her PhD. She is just about to submit and she was not sponsored so has worked very hard. Only you can drive yourself to finish and getting a job is probably why you went for the PhD so do both.

Went from 620 to 710. Then had to cut 25mm off each end as I kept whacking them on trees! After sliding down one tree too many I have worked out that 660mm is the least painful size for a 5ft 7 short arse.

The good old Bank of Mum and Dad where would we be without them!
If, like me, you didn’t have that luxury then the only thing to do is to cut your outgoings and save like mad. Down sizing on your current rented property is a good way of doing this but what ever you do will cuase a downward change in life style for the next 3 years or so.
You have to take the long term view as in 30 years you will be mortgage free. If you continue to rent you will have this large out going for life and nothing to leave your kids. Ah, it’s gone full circle back to Bank of Mum and Dad!
