    Chickenhawk is a brilliant read.

If you enjoyed it you might like ‘Matterhorn’ by Karl Marlantes (Vietnam Vet)

‘Vietnam’ by Max Hastings or ‘We Were Soldiers Once And Young’ by Joseph L. Galloway if you have a bit more time on your hands.

Just had mice in our kitchen, tried the humane traps but they were no use. The mice were getting in, taking the chocolate and laughing at us so we bought some pretty gruesome spring loaded ones from Screwfix. They’re not laughing now!

My two (Vizsla Pointer cross & Pointer) will run 15 miles without breaking into a sweat! I don’t go to trail centers or use woodland singletrack as they like to run at the side of the bike, as I live on the edge of Sherwood Forest i’m blessed with many miles of Fireroad.

I don’t agree with people who say it’s forced exercise as if I take them on a 15 mile walk they run all the way anyway chasing Pheasants & Squirrels!

Red Lion on Charles St. does an amazing pint of Moonshine but it’s not strictly a real ale pub I don’t think.

I had major spinal surgery at age 19 & 23 25 years ago. I have had pain ever since on and off at different levels. I had to sell my Mountain Bike and quit all the rough stuff (Peaks, Lakes & Wales) on the advice of my Neuro Surgeon 4 years ago after a nerve became trapped again (released with injection)

last visit to my GP she said you were told to expect problems in later life, well here they are! and advised me to live a life on all the painkillers above. I can’t do that and have found that long walks with the dogs, and riding ‘gravel’ bikes over forest fire roads seems to both give me my outdoors fix and keep my pain to a minimum at the same time.

People keep telling me to try Cannabis Oil etc. but as my employer has a strict drink & drug policy i’m a bit unsure as to where this would sit?

I never made it over to the Hacienda as it had all gone a bit pear shaped when I started clubbing in early 91. I enjoyed Palais/Jam Factory/Love To Be/Bed & Rise in Sheffield, Hot To Trot/Renaissance in Mansfield/Derby and a stonking night at Havana in Middlesborough!

This always bring back memories of those first few ‘doves’

    Just go for it!

I park at Osmotherley and walk my Vizsla/GSP cross and GSP miles across the moor as there’s no cattle grazing like there is in the Peak (which is local to me) both just have their usual breakfast bowl. Last time I was there at Xmas my brother & sister in law took their Border Terrier and she was fine too.

    Enjoy!

    He’s a lovely looking dog!

If mine is running infront he’s constantly looking back to make sure i’m following which is dangerous and when he’s behind he tries to get infront! I found the happy medium on fire roads and farm tracks where he’ll run all day.

I have a Vizsla/Pointer cross and a working Pointer. Both have really high energy levels and need 2-3 hours exercise a day. My Vizsla/Pointer will run all day at the side of my bike, though I limit him to 15-20 miles. I never take him to Trail Centers as he won’t run on singletrack it has to be fire roads as he will only ever run at the side of the bike not infront or behind.

Like it’s been said in previous posts high energy dogs are great fun but they do need the exercise day in day out no matter how you feel, weather etc.

Lonja Del Barranco is really nice for a few hours, then across the bridge and to the left is a street full of bars which are all good as they’re away from the main tourist area.

The lovely lass in our hotel gave us a map and explained where to go and where not, which was really helpful as I found the city a nightmare to navigate!

It passes 500 meters from my house Saturday but I think I might ride over to Mansfield for the finish. My partner is marshalling in Retford so hopefully there won’t be a repeat of last year!

Just back from Malaga/Torre Del Mar/Nerja on Wednesday, can’t recommend enough!

Malaga is beautiful with a nice long beach that stretches right around the bay to the east of the city, nice and cheap to eat and drink as well.

There’s a service bus that runs along the coast that could take you to the coastal resorts of Torre Del Mar & Nerja, Malaga to Torre Del Mar is a 40 minute journey costing 2.70 euro one way.

Malaga must be served by every airport in the UK and we rented a small, very clean studio flat right in the center of the city for 60 euro a night.

At the minute the area is still very traditional Spanish but my father in law who lives there is starting to complain it’s becoming ‘more like Benidorm every day’ 🙂

I go every year and believe it or not the best place we’ve found is French!

Au Petit Paris it’s not cheap but well worth it. The place is packed with nice bars and restaurants I can’t remember having a bad meal there.

Olivia is nice too, again not cheap, if you walk up the main pedestrian area there’s plenty of nice places for tapa, the one with the barrels outside is the best (can’t remember the name!)

The beaches are nice and clean either side of Balcon De Europa, sea’s lovely to swim in, plenty of good cycling though it’s hot from June.

    Thanks Danstw13 & Drac!

They’re bonding really well, we did wonder if it would cause an issue as it sometimes can.

To be honest Spud, Murphy’s been brilliant to say a little upstart has come into his domain!

I often give him a carrot as a treat and she’s just snatched it from him and took off down the garden and he never even grumbled, just looked at me as if to say “cheers”

Murphy is a GSP/Vizsla cross DezB, he has a very good nose!

She’s fine now thanks Willard, i’ve a week off work and it’s been more stressful than work today trying to keep an eye on her!

Cloverfield Paradox and Annihilation which both went straight to Netflix I think.

That cute GSP puppy stage is when they’ve worn themselves out DezB, for the most of the time it’s more Tazmanian Devil!

Hahaha! the Mrs put it there!

She’s 10 weeks old and still a little frail from a bad virus she’s suffered.

The nibbling on ears has started already, poor old Murph’s not overly impressed!

Not really dark but I tried a bottle of Ron Barcelo Imperial over Xmas and was really suprised.

It was a present and i’m more of a Bourbon drinker. I found it nice for sipping neat with no ice.

I’ve walked my dog past it twice this weekend and still can’t help but feel sick, I was talking to a fella who walks his dog there everyday and he seems to think it’s £500,000’s worth of damage.

Bring back the birch as my old dad would say.

I would recommend Malaga in Spain. It’s a lovely city easy to get around and to get to, plus it’s quite cheap. It will be very warm in August but there is a beach too.

Seville is a cheap train ride away too, two days in each would be really nice but warm!

My in-laws live in Spain so a lot of our holidays are spent with them, like Chakaping say’s keeping up with the drinking is the only issue!
