What did their customer services say when you rang?

I don’t see how they can claim it is a frame only option, when it listed it as being a 30% discount off the full £799 rrp, it also said nowhere in the description that the shock was excluded, on fact it explicitly stated that it was included.

The paperwork that came in the box has an item for ‘workshop fit shock’

No not really, when it states 30% discount, and rear shock included in the description

i stripped the paint off a pitch with the cheap B+Q own brand stuff, paint on nice and thick, leave for a few hours (2-3+) then give it a good bushing with a brass wire brush (something not so stiff as to scratch up the ali too much). Came out quite well, then I polished it up with some wet ‘n dry.

Schwalbe Racing Ralph snakeskin on the rear here, had a nobby nic ‘4X’ up front, but the side knobs were breaking up after 6 rides (less then 100 miles)! so switched to Ardent 2.25 exo up front.

Thinking next move will be either a 2.1 crossmark LUST on the back when the ralph dies, or a matching ardent.

I had a 2012 evo till it got nicked, loved it and Im still gutted. Now on a 2012 carbon fsr, not as much fun…..

The rear wheels come with the spacers to fit 12×135 or 12×142.

I got the rear hub upgrade kit off Extra, but having no issues with the original stock internals, so I havent swapped them out yet.

Front 20mm hub can be converted to 15mm too, Extra emailled me the kit no.

Love mine, nice and light, look bling, no issues and still totally true so far. Glad I took a punt and ignored the horror stories.

KMC X10 all the way for me, I find they are lasting longer than my SRAM PC-991’s used to.

I bought a pair from CRC a few months ago, read all the reports of dodgy rear hub internals online , but liked the spec in terms of weight and tubeless compatibility etc, and they do look pretty bling which helped….. as above, I wouldnt have bought them at full RRP, but i got them at the 360ish price.

Apparently the front hubs are fine, its the rear hub internals as mentioned previously that folk have had issues with. I emailed the distributor, Extra, before my wheels had even arrived. They kindly sent me the upgrade kit with the new rear bearings and spacer, plus the press tools to do the job no questions asked, not even for proof of purchase. Great customer service. I havent fitted the kit yet, I figured I would wait to see if I got any of the reported issues first.

Been running them for a few months, including riding the Steve Peat DH on them (17th in Masters if you are interested), which had plenty of rocks and the bombhole at the end to give them a good smash around.

Ive had no issued at all, both wheels still true and no play in hubs even with supposedly ‘dodgy’ old stock rear internals.

I had a couple of bikes stolen recently (not joking and trying to claim its mine…….)

What was the bike in question?

Cannock last Sunday morning was terrible. Monkey trail was ok, but once we rejoined follow the dog it was a constant stream of traffic, I mean non stop.

Will probably be worse this weekend!

Any pics or video’s of this years track anywhere? Im entered, but wont get to see it till the day, just interested in what the track is like.

    Jumps? drops? rock gardens?

I’m doing the steel city DH and was also wondering about tyre choice. Been a few years since I last rode DH up at Warncliffe etc.

Ive just built up a bike with 2.25 Racing Ralph rear, 2.25 Nobby Nic front, both tubeless with snakeskin sidewalls. They are a lot lighter than I’m used to, but roll fast as a combo.

Does anyone know how rocky the track is for this year? worried those tyres will be on the fragile side.

If its wet on the day it will be specialized storm controls for me.

Thats my baby. Only changes since pic are to renthal kevlar lock ons, crossmark 2.25 on rear and HR 2.4 exo on front and white bender fender mud guard.

As in original post, they also took a brand new crosslight pro6, 57cm in white. Missing the chain.

Cant bear the thought of some hamfisted git messing with the bikes I spent endless hours building and loving.

Watching all the usual sites, but gonna be difficult to do it constantly. How long would they hold the bikes before trying to shift them on? Any thoughts?

Cant decide if it was targetted or randomers just got lucky.

    Thanks everyone for the help,.

I do have a wee ride in the garage, havent checked if its gone too… did the bike look like the one in the pic?

Completely gutted, its like part of me is missing!

Making up flyers to put up round Derby offering cash reward.

Anyone got any consolation on recovery rates? Where do high end bikes go when nicked? Surely they stick out if ridden around by the average local toerag, or are they moved around the country?

Suppose it depends on whos got them and if they know anything about them.

    wwwwwwoooooaaawwwww, hang on a sec…..

Just logged on and seen this!!! A chance to explain and defend myself please!

Mr Bobbyspangles, just checked my paypal and rifled through my emails, so I can give you the story on this.

I dont know if you noticed, but you replied to an old ad for the items, I had placed a more recent post, so would not be checking for responses on the older thread. maybe my mistake not yours.

Coupled with the above, it looks like you just fired the paypal payment straight through, no covering email or anything, so I have completely missed it as it just looks like a general paypal email, of which I have many many in my inbox!. Also as I didnt think I had sold anything, not getting a latest thread response I wouldnt have checked…..

Everytime you pay for anything with paypal you get at least 3 emails, so I dont look at them unless I know I have agreed a sale etc with someone.

I have now seen the dispute case raised, it was more hasty than I would have raised one, but thats just me.

I can only appologise and offer to either refund you your £20, or get the items in the post tonight, the choice is yours?

Coedy on sat, mix up of favourite bits and cutting out the less fun bits (ie fire road out and back after cafe) sunshine the whole way round. Stayed at the vagabond in Betws y coed sat night with a nice meal out followed by few pints. Then rode penmachno yesterday for he first time, great trail, although the wind seemed to be constantly in our faces! great weekend in all though.

Im running 2.0 Spesh Storms with Control casings, set up tubeless on ZTR Flows. Been really impressed with them, slow on hard ground and felt a bit sketchy at Lee Quarry the other week on all the rocks there, but great grip on everything else. They also feel pretty light and only cost me £45 for a pair.

i used to run SRAM chains, dont know how many miles they were lasting but I’d get through a few per year replacing at .75 wear. Now running KMC’s and I’m surprised how long they are lasting, not had to change them since I switched to them. I do a full degrease with a park tools chain cleaner and fenwicks degreaser every 2-3 rides depending on how dirty the chain gets, then relube with finish line wet or dry as appropriate.

Anyone else found KMC’s to last longer then SRAM?

Hora – Found it on the PB classifieds, barely used 2012, struck a deal with the seller on the frame along with some 36 floats.

I got stung for import duty (on the declared value…. anyways) so didnt end up being cheap at all, but now ive got it im happy, unlikely to see any / many others on the uk trails either.

Its a real shame Spesh uk didnt offer the same frameset in the UK, the Evo Expert carbons sold out pretty quick by all accounts.

Press fit is no issue, ive just fitted a pair of press fit adapter cups and now happily running my standard Hope HT2 type BB on my Evo.

Just received my ‘dodgy import’ Stumpy Evo frame (2012 North America alloy frame only version) with a pair of 36 floats, after waiting for it to come off the slow boat from Canada.

Been out twice on it and absolutley love it! Defo fits the bill of low and slack, and also doesnt feel heavy but havent weighted it yet.

Ive had Lyrik 2-step airs, which I then converted to coil U-turn, then 36 floats (only basic R versions, but upgraded to ‘low friction’ SKF seals) and now running a pair of the 2011 55 RC3 ti’s.

The 55’s are by far the plushest of those forks, and so far have had no issues although I’ve got the peace of mind having the 3 year warranty anyways. I set the damping and rebound and havent touched them since, they just handle eveything so well. The 15-30 hour service intervals on fox shocks annoys me, although I am running an RP23 rear shock.

I’m trying not to like the 55’s, as I got the bomber purple editions and they completely clash with the rest of my bike, but even I’m not daft enough to downgrade performance just for the looks! would love to get my hands on some white lowers to fit to them instead though……

I ordered one as my bro works for a shop and got a killer deal on it, its arrived at the shop so I should get my hands on it tomorrow. Took a real gamble having never ridden one, but for the price I paid….

Won’t have it built up for a week or so due to being away, but I’ll post a review once Ive been out on it.

I ran my HR1’s at similar pressures to you Graham, but I found they didnt give me any confidence over rougher ground, I felt like I could feel them squirming around a bit if you get what I mean. It was more the rear tyre that bothered me though.

I suppose its a personal thing like a lot of bike kit. My riding style is the take my time on the ups, be as quick as I can on the downs variety. I wouldnt call it FR, I dont do anything you wouldnt find on a trail centre red or black.

Ive used MRP G2, E13 LG1, a couple of the top guide only type ones and bottom only roller ones etc. Now got a Straitline silent guide running 1×10 on my trail bike, would never use anything else again! light, no tiny wheels or bearings to gum up, as silent as the name says. Not cheap (they all seem over priced to me) but does the job perfectly.

I have just rebuilt my 160F/150R all rounder bike for the summer. I too use it for pretty much all my riding, trail centres, odd uplift day etc. I went with a HR2 2.4 Exo on the front, running tubeless on flows, paired with a 2.25 LUST crossmark on the rear. I switched to this combo from HR1 2.35’s front and rear, which I couldnt live with tubeless due to the thin sidewalls (I am 100kg kitted up though). When I first inflated them I was worried as the HR2 did look big (although I had just spent 3 weeks riding my hardtail with 2.1 RR’s). First ride out at the weekend I was pretty impressed, gripped well, bigger volume felt better over rocky sections than the HR1’s and sidewalls held up well in corners. I think a HR2 running tubeless would be a similar weight to a HR1 + tube, so didnt feel that they were any harder to spin up. I probably wouldnt run one on the rear too though, personally I think something faster rolling is working better, and there wouldnt be much clearance on my frame.
