Thanks for all the help and suggestions, glad it wasn’t just me being totally dense.

Thanks for the suggestions, I thought there may be a couple of potential solutions given the order of the polynominals.

By way of context I’ve got a formula that calculates a Bezier interpolation between 2 points on a graph using those 2 plus the points either side. In the original file the calculation returns both an X and Y coordinate using the f term to represent the proportion of the distance between the two points.

What I need to do is return a y coordinate for a known x, and the thinking was solve f for the known x, then feed this through the calc for the y coordinate using the original equation.

I’ve bored myself here and I’m thinking the best approach is use a macro’d Goal Seek to run through the graph points.

Either that or tell them it’s 42 :D

I enjoyed it tonight, still a bit of the wide and fast feel to it but seems to flow well, nice use of the short climbs before the turns to save having to brake. I agree the rocky bit feels a bit out of place, and will be fun when covered in greasy mud, but overall a worthy addition and adds a bit of interest back to the centre.

Now can't wait for the freeride finish

Got a Tracer myself, a lovely ride when you get it sorted but for me a real problem child. Frame design sucks (not performance, but the design) – pivot bolts prevented standard Shimano XT cranks from rotating (newer versions are now flush fitted bolts) – 6 weeks for warranty replacements, Atlas cranks won't work at all as bind on frame, rear triangle impacts on a XT mech unless you mod it, rear triangle cracked and took over 12 weeks for replacement, but worse of the lot, the RP23 sucks if you're over about 12 stone. Blows through all travel riding off a kerb unless you set silly small amounts of sag. After playing around with Pushing took a replacement with a Manitou ISX 6 before the frame would perform.

Think carefully about the Tracer, test ride one, have a look at the Intense threads on MTBR, then make your mind up. Love the way mine rides now but given the chance again I wouldn't have choosen one.

Real pics for sure, got a few myself earlier in the week on the way back from the CliMachx.

This was taken with a 200mm lens handheld

For anyone interested have a look at this link which shows some of the sites.

Did mine 2 years ago – Grade 3 over the handlebars job.

Totally agree with Dair – DON'T GO STRAIGHT FOR THE OP!

According to my consultant more chance of complications and no better return of use than the conservative method (aka physio), just means no bump. Also the chance of a successful outcome of the Op is unchanged whether you have it now or in 6m time.

For me, 2 weeks doing nothing for the swelling to go down, then physio followed religiously for next 8 weeks. Within that period I was on the bike again – gently – after 5 weeks and on a biking holiday after 3 months.

Pretty much full recovery now – don't notice any difference other than a bit of stiffness or pain now and again – nothing serious. And a huge great bump in my shoulder (great for hanging the kayak on for portages)

    Take care and heal fast.

If you bought on you credit card there is an outside chance it could have had "Purchase Protection Cover". This is occasionally a free cover you get with your card without having to ask for. Worth a call to find out as might help if no other insurance.

I feel for you. Used to own car 00035 and it was simply the most fun 4 wheel vehicle I ever owned yet still be practical enough for day to day,, even managed to take 2 kayaks on a roofrack without any trouble. Still yearn for one again and wish Id had the means to keep it. Really hope you get it running again soon.

I did mine at Penmachno a year or so back, healing and recovery depends how bad you've done it.

If you're talking about what I think you are (no medical training here byw) then it's also called an ACJ dislocation and means the point where your collar bone joins your shoulder is buggered. They grade them from 1 through 5 in order of severity. I had a Grade 3 meaning a lot of pain, a bloody great lump on top of my shoulder and the end of my collar bone pretty much totally disconnected from where it should be.

Healing was 4 weeks in a sling, 6 months of physio. I was riding a bike (very carefully) after 6 weeks and went on a biking holiday at 12 weeks and would say that now totally back to normal, other than the lump that won't ever go away without surgery.

Probably best to get it checked out if it's still hurting. Good luck getting back to rights.

Back when I was 16 I was cleaning the chain on my 50cc Suzuki by leaving the engine idling in first whilst the bike was on its stand. I held a rag to the slowly moving chain and then screamed very loudly as it snagged and dragged my index finger round the rear sprocket. To this day the last 1/8th of an inch is solid scar tissue.

So sorry to hear of your loss. My Dad died of cancer last July and I still feel it every day. Don't be afraid to let your feelings out, cry when you feel sad, but don't feel guilty smiling when you remember the good times.

It hasn't gone away, and I don't think it ever will, but it does become easier to live with.

Penmachno last Saturday for me – great ride, not too much mud, fantastic views and and a little less "man made" feel than the other North Wales ride at Llandegla

I'll take your 456 Grum and raise it a 456

Enjoying getting to use my GF1 for biking shots, still a fair bit to learn though to get consistently good shots. Only major drawback I'm finding so far is that the screen is very refelctive making it hard to see in bright light.

Have a look at these if you want a play as to how F-number, shutter speed and ISO are linked, they helped me get it.

Been out with my fiance and seen some real idiots, covered head to toe in armour, squeezing past on narrow bits of red routes and scaring her to death – if you're that hardcore go ride the black…
I would say slower rider let the faster ones past at a safe point, faster riders make your presence known with a friendly call and then wait to come through – it's not a race.

I've got one too, a little bit of shutter lag compared to my old SLR and the lack of telephoto length can be a bit constraining, but other than that a great camera capable of some beautiful pics. It gets taken out with me far more than my SLR because of it's compact size, something I think you would find more difficult with the GF1 option.

I'm in a similar position with a 24 mile round commute on road all the way with just a couple of junctions, and no desire to take off road onto tracks. Same recomendations apply? Or would I be better with a pure road bike? Any suggestions?

Did mine last August, Grade III ACJ Dislocation. A weeks rest then about 4 weeks of physio and I was on the bike again, carried on with the physio and I was away on a biking holiday in Spain within 3 months of the injury.

If he does the physio he'll be back up again in no time, it still hurts a bit, I've got a gnarly lump on my shoulder, but it's in no way limiting.

    Good luck to him
