Came here to post the Bugasalt too, similar issue to you, steading conversion surrounded by fields. Tried the electric racket and plug in zapper from Amazon, neither were very effective. I think my good wife does roll her eyes though when I scurry off to get the gun on spotting a fly…

They do it down at Camber Sands, they do it Waikiki…

35 here, Squeeze Greatest Hits was one of those CDs I remember being driven around to as a kid. Still recall the Rebus
puzzle on the cover. I think I enjoy pop music from any time really, I think it’s easy to forget the stuff that pervades from decades past is largely the better quality distilate. Listening to pick of the pops for example where there isn’t so much selective filtering, some weeks are utter pap!

I await my medal/cookie/pat on the head in the post!

“Slightly on a tangent but I think they’ve always been considered as the most intelligent of the great apes, hence their fitting role in Planet of the Apes!”

    An orangu-tangent if you will…

Read though a whole page of replies looking for “It’s crap, don’t bother!”

Glad to see ElShalimo and Drac have sorted it.

I ordered a pair of Discovery wet weather shorts from the current sale (that looked great) in a Medium. I’m 5’11” (180cm) and I’m generally a 32″ waist. I could get into them but they were pretty snug, even around the thighs, so I sent them back. Unfortunately they didn’t have any large in stock anymore. Was impressed with them though, at £25 they were a steal, shame they’re being discontinued!

I’m often surprised when going to other countries how willing they are to rebuild stuff ‘as it was’ rather than preserve ruins. So many historical attractions in Japan you’d get half way round then “[insert temple] was burnt down in 1958 by a disgruntled monk – it was rebuild in 1972”, this is after you’ve been told it’s 1000 years old. I wonder what tourists to the UK think when wandering round our crumbly ruins! I supposed it does happen here (Eilean Donan & Bamburgh spring to mind)

On a related note youtuber “Lord HardThrasher” has recently done an interesting series on the European bombing campaign: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4HIHvjuWsE&t=40s going into both the RAF and USAAF strategies/approach/experiences separately.

*He’s perhaps a bit clarkson-esque in his presentation style if that bothers you
** I don’t know enough about the subject to assess it’s validity but it comes across as well researched to me

I read the thread title and instantly thought ‘baked beans!’ And then ‘I can’t post that – I’ll be flamed!’. Vile things! I totally agree on taste and texture. I’ll happily eat and cook with beans in meals.

Eggs too (boiled, fried or poached) I wish I did like them and have tried but the eggy/sulphury taste just makes me gag.

needless to say I’m not a big cooked breakfast fan…

I was thinking of posting a very similar thread, I took a look over a few similar threads from the last year or so and came to a similar conclusion to wheelsonfire1. I currently have an Atera Strada Evo 3 with the 4th bike kit (I’ve never tried it with the 4th bike kit). It was seemingly the STW darling of towbar racks when I bought it back in 2017. I find it pretty effortless to fit to the car, and fitting 2 bikes is a doddle (I generally use spaces 1 and 3). But carrying 3 bikes is pretty fiddly to do. I’ve generally had to spin the bars on the middle bike and take off a couple off pedals which I’d really rather not do.

My daughter now has a nukeproof 24″ cubscout with boost spacing, I was thinking it was going fit more easily with 2 grown-up enduro bikes (given it’s that bit bigger) but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ve seen lots of praise for the Yakima Just Click on here and wondered if that’d be the answer to my issues.

Living in NE Scotland I totally agree with the point about salt on the roads, I wondered if folk had any smart solutions to that (other than put it in the boot or buy a van). It’s especially problematic when staying somewhere self catering and going out riding, you can’t was the bikes off when you get home. It’s always a hassle getting home in the dark, trying to get tea sorted, empty out the car, wash all the kit, get the kids settled and you need to wash all the bikes in the freezing cold darkness.

I really don’t want a van but I am maybe a bit trailer curious, perhaps even a box trailer :o

I’ve been sat on a dining table chair since lockdown and it’s not great for my back. I did get a refurbished Humanscale Diffrient world but the mesh sagged on the seat and touched the frame after a few hours sat on it. I’ve been pontificating about what to get instead since!!! So this thread is a good prompt.

Anyone else hate office chairs with arm rests? (and have an armless recommendation?) I just feel i can never get the chair close enough to the desk with them!

Is there a tick box on your “tailor your return” section where you’ve stated you’ve received “tips and other payments not on your P60”?

Has anyone on here set up evohome to record to some kind of historian? (I’ve looked at domoticz but never got round to implementing it.

I’d love to record temperature demand/boiler use etc… so I can try and optimise/minimise our oil usage (and understand system performance for moving to something like ground source/air source). I’m not sure if that would be better done by putting sensors on the oil tank or boiler or both!

I’ve been running various itterations of SQ Lab saddles since someone took me aside and measured my bum at a tbc night in Edinburgh. I find the platform/cut-away great for looking after my hydraulics so to speak. I switched to a WTB volt for a bit one summer and started getting worrying aches that seemed to go once I switched back.

Indeed, but the whole point of AirBnB is that it isn’t just some hotel. e.g. the church I mentioned earlier; whole massive house, completely private, 8 people, great bedrooms, great every room for that matter including play room with kids hidey-hole, STW-approved wood burner, STW-approve Aga, 5-a-side sized football pitch in the garden, straight out of the garden into a massive forest and it wasn’t even expensive. Not many hotels offering that

    +close to cafe/gallery/former post office?  :p

I’m racing Sunday, not ridden it before. I’m seeing a big 5ft drop on facebook does this have a chicken run? Are there many/any other big unrollable features to watch out for? Not mad keen on hitting stuff like that blind with no idea of run out!

Was there a ban on a thread about this case on here or was no one interested, very unlikely for singletrack

    I’d been wondering the same!

I’ve had an ambit 3 for the past 6 years, it’s a good robust thing. As hardware it’s been good.

I’m pretty annoyed with Suunto switching off the web portal with no equivalent solution being released. All the while they were still selling said model new without flagging all the functionality that was about to be switched off. It seems as a brand they’ve decided it’s more lucrative chasing the smart wearables end of the market rather than functional outdoors kit. Who wants to plan routes on a phone app!

    which wasn’t very helpful

yeah that’s been my experience when contacting them for advice when trying to source accessories to fit secondhand islabikes we’ve bought. absolute zero effort ‘cover your arse’ responses. We’ve bought new from them as well and they are good bikes but their replies didn’t do much for my brand loyalty (Im sure they’re devastated to read this…)

+1 for soft slings/carriers (FB marketplace too)

I was super excited to get another osprey bag (poco) when we we’re expecting but in reality I found wraps and carriers much more practical (things like Tula, ergo baby). They stuff down to not much and they hold the kid close to your body so there’s less leverage. Much quicker to pop them on/off too. Piers Morgan won’t approve though.
