That’s it I’m done with commuting into London – it’s just horrible, not fun and frankly dangerous (skidded on snow trying to avoid a muppet driver, landed on my backside)

Bike cleaned and will be permanently stationed on the turbo. I’m done!

In fact any sort of riding in winter is not fun. Roll on tomo can’t wait …..

The Tron bike is unlocked by selected the “Everest Challenge” and then simply racking up a total ascent of 50,000 m. Which could take some time.

oooh… just checked and im on 39,725m, maybe as a reward for my weekend effort on the century i can unlock it by riding 10,000m…. eeek!

Mashie – thanks, I gave a few quid just now.

Thank you much appreciated. Not looking forward to Sat – likely to be non stop 6 hours on the turbo, an early start me thinks!

How much are people spending on Tacx Neos? I noticed there’s some on Amazon for £450, are these an older style or something?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0112VE4NO/

Also how do they compare to a Kickr?

Looks very dodgy to me – a just launched seller and notes cant send to all addresses please email! Steer clear

Does the freehub just pull off? All collected but still in the box until I’m done with work. Question is to risk using it tonight. Got a session planned that would not go well with new tech faffing. Probably best to leave it till tomorrows z2 (though weather looks ok so should really get outdoors for that.)

its not a must do but you should do it when you get a moment

Is that just to unlock the achievement

nope for charity – a double pretzel to raise money to settle a refugee family in Elmbridge – we have done amazingly well to reach the target. I will post proof on here on Sat afternoon. http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/help-syrian-refugee-karim-to-resettle-his-family/

Nice. You might want to take the free hub off & grease the hell out of it pre-emptively!

Thanks scaredy – the big deal…… well it will be a single ride, probably join the Sunday morning endurance 168km. It will probably be quite dull and hard work… (not very good at making a big deal out of this am I!)

Right then I don’t like doing this but…. – wife volunteers for Elmbridge Can – charity to help refugees coming into the UK. She is crowdfunding for a family to help them settle, trying to raise 7k. They are almost half way to achieving it.

To help I’m going to cycle 100 miles on Zwift – if anyone wants to donate could click below. I’ve just joined the STW Strava group + will post evidence.

    Any help much appreciated.

Ive had the Neo for over a year, clocked circa 4000k on Zwift without any issues. I love it during the winter (i simply hate wet, miserable, cold rides!)
it developed some odd noises so i took the freehub off, greased the little black spacer and it was sorted.

You could always got a hydraulic stacker system inside if lifting bikes seems a chore!

Yep 29er version, well built but with alarmed locks, alarm sensor inside and 2 sets of locks to make sure it makes a right racket if broken into.

Whatever you do don’t tighten it to 40 – numerous threads on how it’s impossible to remove – I do mine to 20
Torque wrenches for modern bikes are a must

Sorry but I am not advising from my armchair but looking at two of my bikes both of which have hollowgram cranks which I install and service myself

The wavy washer keeps the bearing in tension – it’s should be on the drive side and squashed to a point where the wave is mid to flat compressed (not totally compressed flat)

    mashiehood
    Free Member

Pls don’t ride it like that, you won’t have proper pre tension on the crank and likely to cause damage

    mashiehood
    Free Member

Nope take it back to the shop and ask them to install it properly – it’s either missing some spacers or it’s not tightened properly
Also my wavy washer is on the drive side

My plus bike was an opportunity purchase – the open I had previously cracked due to me being stupid and that presented an opp to try something different, so I went for their One + frame and built some new wheels with LB 38mm wide rims. Have to say it’s an absolute hoot – I can now climb faster, descend with more confidence and it’s still almost as light as my 29er. (19lb with plus wheels, 18lb with 29er wheels).

Someone made a comment here about plus being suited to people who are not Gnar and that may be the answer to this particular conendrum.

Getting lost – part of the fun
Weather – be prepared for everything
people – some of the most amazing, friendly, helpful people on the planet
safety – the standard stuff, we felt very safe in japan
