I run a 2.25 Rocket Ron front all year, rear is a 2.1 RR in winter, Thunderburt in summer. I am tempted to swap the rear for the weekend. Its still a bit muddy / damp but should be ok in the Surrey Hills.

If the world evolved in line with the opinions set out in this forum, we would still be dragging our knuckles in a muddy field with a horse and cart!

I dont think they are targeting Nautilus, High end Meridian or ATC. This is very much a product for the setup, forget generation but who also want impressive sound. It does that.

Seriously, those who are intrigued should go and listen.

Don’t get too hung up on how it works, its a speaker (a very clever one) that produces sound not heard before at this price level (IMHO!)

Well, I do like my sound and have a simple yet amazing system in Meridian DSP5200 hooked to a Squeezebox. It sounds amazing.

I was fortunate enough to have this on trial last week, it is mighty impressive, without sounding like an audiophile, it manages clarity and presentation on a scale i have never heard from such a small package.

I was so impressed, I will be selling my B&W MM1’s and various other bits to fund this.

i was lucky enough to have tried both Zipp 303 and Enve,s. The braking on both was better than my Chinese carbon rims but not a massive difference. Both the Enve and Zipps were heavier than my Chinese 38mm and that’s what I am running now. I’m tempted to buy another set but go the the LB pair with Extralite hubs.

I have just purchased a pair of 38mm wide from their eBay store. About two months ago I bought a 27/30mm combo. Very happy with them. Be aware that it’s Chinese new year, so I’m not expecting delivery of the 38mm till mid March.

I’m assuming he means the sram pf30 plastic cups. Yes the tool will take them out. I popped the bearings out and reused mine with a bit of loctite

Simon – I do a regular loop starting from Box Hill and up to the YHA car park, I rarely bump into anyone. Even after the YHA car park I hardly see a soul. Its not until I get to the top from Deathstar that regular meetings with other bikers takes place.

I have some sympathy with walkers and horsers feeling parts of the Hurtwood aren’t safe and peaceful places to visit any more due to the volume of bikes.

Volume of bikers, lets get a reality check here, 80% of the time, the place is deserted! Some of the voices on here make it sound like bad day in Beirut!

If everyone plays nicely in the sandpit, all is well. I remember a couple of years ago Howard and his mates held a relay event in Leith and that was frowned upon (rightly so) and it stopped.

    Leave it self governed please!

how overcrowded the South East has become i’m afraid

    eh?

I have been riding the surrey hills for 15 years, I rarely see people making idiots of themselves. It really is not as bad as people make it out to be.

I tend to start in Boxhill and earn my ride in Holmbury and Winterfold.

Some cracking riding around Leith and Ranmore as well.

I bought a 27mm and 30mm for rear and front, built with Extralite front hub and AC rear, DT Rev spokes, 2 cross. 1320gram without tape.

Most bike shops / experts advised against DT Revs, alloy nipples, 2 cross etc. Big test tomo on its maiden run.

I have recently bought Chinese wheels and post and the service is amazing. The post for example arrived quicker than a hub from Germany. The quality of both items is very good.

try bike24 for spokes, my DT Revs for both wheels with nipples came in at £50

I needed several turns of tape on my 27mm hookless 29ers to get Schwalbes to seal. Worse after refitting tyres too – tape getting pushed into the well. Ended up putting some of that draught excluder foam in the well, with a layer of tape on top. Flatter profile, easier inflation.

bizzare – my RR 2.1 went up with a track pump and single layer of tape!

Light bicycle rims, 30mm front, 27mm rear, come in at 1300g. I asked LB for the lightest possible rims and the 30mm was 375g and 27mm was 350g

Open O-1.0 frame, LB rims, SISL2 cranks, Fox CTD forks, extralite hyper hubs, finishing kit from MTzoom etc. target weight for the finished bike is 17.5lb.

I’m currently building from an open o-1.0 frame with a mishmash of parts from the bin, china, germans, us and Italians. It’s currently sitting at 16.23lb excluding pedals, chain and chainring. Hopefully will be ready for its maiden run this weekend.
