Are you using a narrow wide chainring?

And is it on a single ring crank or a double/triple? I.e is it in the right place?

I’ve had nx 11speed for a couple of years. Works fine. I like the positive “clunk” feel of sram.

I have slx 12 speed on my new bike. Works fine. I like the light slick feel of shimano.

    HTH ;-)

I have an Erbauer from Screwfix.

It’s been properly hammered for 5 years since moving in to the house of hidden horrors!

Never missed a beat and was 99 quid with two batteries. One battery is noticeably less long lasting now but still has plenty of power and run time.

    Would buy again.

    Could you provide catering services

Made me laugh that did 😁

Steerer needs cutting down a bit.

    Maybe do some jumps?

You could probably hide a troll behind it?

Sgwd yr eira in the brecon Beacons.

Flattish riverside walk passing a few decent falls, then steps down to sgwd yr eira which is a big waterfall that you can walk all the way under and behind.

Fish, chips and peas with loads of s&v sat in the car in driving rain on the sea front at Barmouth, watching the waves crash on the sea wall.

Followed by Toffee flavoured honey ice cream with chocolate and honeycomb sprinkles and a flake, in a choc dipped waffle cone, from Holgates Ice Cream shop in Tywyn.

Then my missus couldn’t finish her apple pie flavoured honey ice cream with crumble topping, so I dutifully helped out.

    Proper full fat Friday. Magnificent.

Try turning off all of the ones that do work to see if heat gets to the ones that currently dont.

If yes, you need to balance all of the radiators.

6’4″ and liking my new 29er Flaremax at around 510 reach.

Been struggling to get a bike that feels right for years.

I’m also not hanging right over the back wheel either which means that getting your weight back doesn’t take all of the weight off the front wheel as your weight is more centred.

Roverpig – the shock is certainly the smoothest that I’ve ever had. It moves effortlessly with no hint of stiction.

    Finally! Been on the FlareMax.

And then with a bit of dirt on it 😱

First impressions are that the fit is perfect, which is why I got a new bike, been looking for about 18 months to get the right fit. I’m 6’4″ so need big and roomy.

Was very wet and muddy so super slidey, a bit unfair to comment on the tyres yet.

12 speed shimano worked very nicely. Been on SRAM for a while and like the “clunk”, but also like the lightness of shimano.

A few suspension and tyre pressure tweaks needed.

    Happy bunny.

My number plates aren’t falling off, they live outside 24/7, get all the weather, and get a fair breeze when “pressing on”.

Oh the weeds, and those pots!

We have a couple of them in our garden, they get on really well, no fighting.

And if we don’t put a bit of seed out for them by 9:30am they tap on the patio door to remind us!

Crazbaboon – the cables need to thread through the shock mount and the fittings are just a bit too big.

    Rear brake now done.

Looking forward to the testing the tyres 🤘

And I’m just wondering what’s best to lube my chain with 😜

Good spot on the brake hose.

Cotic fitted my Hope brakes but didn’t want to mess with the fittings to route it properly, which we agreed on.

I am now in the garage fitting black hose and proper routing, coz yeah I didn’t like the braided either. It does have full length clear cover tho Kryton.

Interested in the tyre comments though. I’ve been on the de rigueur minion/butcher/high roller combos for years. Thought I’d try something else and these were on the options list. I is worried now 😱

Funkmasterp – you are welcome to come give me a push to straighten the tree up 😁

Commitments got in the way of riding this weekend, hopefully a Tuesday night ride is on the cards 🤩

    Nice bike @crazybaboon.

Saw your post. Hope you get sorted soon. Cotic have been great so far.

I ummed and ahhed between rocket and flare, but my local riding is more climby than enduro-y so went with the flare max.

And I’m no spring chicken so am unlikely to go big these days 😜

Really appreciate the nice comments, and love the bants, made me laugh lots.

The open shed is just a bit of shelter for the neighbours pet sheep.

And the hedge, well yeah, that’s taking a bit of getting going.

I’m 6’4″ which I think is reasonably tall.

Just gotta read up on the Shimano 12 speed, clutches and that stuff, been on Sram for a while.

First proper new bike for quite some years so can’t wait to give it a ragging.

And I now have some 26er parts to sell 😱

    That’s a bummer.

My Flaremax arrived yesterday with CCDBIL shock.

Not ridden yet so hope mines ok. Needed to put quite a bit of pressure in to get the sag right.

    XL FlareMax in Supernova Orange.

Unfortunately other stuff getting in the way so probably won’t get a ride until next weekend.

    Loving the comments 😜🤘🤩

    LOL!

All of that made me laugh 😂

It might actually be a Cotic.

Krypton there is no way I will ever be ahead of you in a race!

I do t have a knife block in my lounge, but I do have a log burner in my kitchen.

The nectarines are gently warming to room temperature as I dont like cold fruit.

The firewood is indeed artisanal, felled and split and seasoned by myself. A true artisan ;-)

And yes, the grass does need cutting, but ain’t happening any time soon.

I may reveal all tomorrow as I am currently on the pub 🤘

I learnt to do crawl aged 45 specifically to do triathlons.

It will probably take 6 months to fully get it.

Try to swim smoothly, be streamlined and etc. Dont go smashing it hard trying to power your way. It’s all technique including breathing.

Swim as many times a week as possible at least 3 times. Even if they are short 15 minute sessions. I sometimes went and did twenty lengths and came home knackered.

Expect some days to go well and others to be demoralising.

It was great to learn new skills in my mind 40s.

I used Sheldon Browns guide. Did my first set in the frame/forks and they are still going strong after 4 years of commuting and a couple of years as a grocery getter.

I built some 29ers using Superstar 25mm rims, and DT spokes and nipples from ebay and they have been great wheels. Used Rose bikes in Germany for spokes too.

It’s a nice skill to learn and impress your friends.

I took to my first pair instantly and happily drove 20 miles home.

2nd pair, current, I had to go back for a slight frame adjustment to lower the lens, and they are now perfect.

My wife picked up her first pair of glasses recently. Went for high spec (see what I did there) varifocals. Has spent the last 2 months trotting back and forth to the opticians as she just cant get on with them. She’s given up and we now have a £400 ornament!

You need to keep going back, but giving them time. The opticians, I’ve found, want you to be 100% happy.

    @matt_outandabout tell me more.

Recently picked up an xc60 and the heated seats get nowhere near as warm as my old astra.

Being able to turn them up would be good.

I would just spur off it.

Then you could use the socket behind the cupboard to power some of those trendy lights that come on when you open the door.

Like I did when I fitted my kitchen.

So how would I do a stealth ad for a 2012 Stumpjumper Evo?

XL frame, so wont really work keeping it for someones youngster (mines already grown up), so will be splitting and selling frame, revelation forks, decent wheels with Hope hubs and all that.

    Runs nicely 1×11 too.

I have an Orange Clockwork 29er frame for sale. I’ve got all the original paperwork from when I bought it.

Size xl. Will be nice and cheap. Could provide wheels, dropper, headset and a few other bits too.

Running NX 11 speed on my 26er Spesh Stumpy Evo.

32 tooth narrow wide ring, NX shifter and mech, Shimano cassette with 42 tooth bottom gear. Some random 11 speed chain.

    Works perfectly.

Could do with a slightly lower bottom gear still as its hilly here in mid-Wales, but that would mean a new mech.
