    Absolutely everything!

We get through a 20kg sack of nuts, 15kg of no mess seed, a bucket of fatballs and a couple of kilos of nyjer.  So over £60 a month. The little burgers eat better than me.

last house however, nuts just went mouldy as they were untouched,

So it does seem to vary so you’ll need to try different stuff.

    Awesomeness all round guys.

TJ – love how you’ve really got into the spirit of this. Made me smile. And you kicked it all off.

if you are tandeming through mid Wales we have a bed and dinner waiting for you.

and well done to the rest of the relay team and spanner minkeys.

Err……so you want to feed two water pipes to a radiator from above, but you don’t want to see them, and you don’t want to hide them?

    Electric radiator?

I have 3 old apple trees (over 100 years old). Heavy crop this year, all nice tasting, no idea what varieties they are, all different.

i also have a more recent small apple tree which is a heavy cropper. No idea which variety but tastes nice.

if I was buying in a shop I would, like my dad, go for Cox’s Orange Pippin. Followed by Braeburn or pink lady.

OP – sounds like a sticky motorised valve. My combi did similar last year after the summer layup.

i “forced” it by a couple of repeats of manually switching from heating only to hot water only etc.

by coincidence I’m having a new boiler fitted on Tuesday but nothing to do with that issue as that seems ok this year.

I learned front crawl in my mid forties after being a breast stroke only swimmer, when I started doing tris.

took a few months to get halfway comfortable but now it’s my default stroke.

ive done a couple of IMs and wouldn’t want to do breast stroke for that distance, too slow and tiring.

i can do the IM swim in 1:15 without smashing myself.

get some lessons and it will eventually click.

    @Richardk – I did Outlaw for my 50th 😎

Yep, was much cheaper as I only lived over the border in Belper so it was just a day out 😀

Quite fancy it again, but I’m looking for something…err….a bit longer now.

    nice Prsche btw 😎

@bikebouy – yep it was ace. 45mph winds, sideways rain, one of the toughest courses on the ironman circuit made even tougher.

    Worth it for sure.

The support all round the course is bonkers. We went to support this year as it is so good.

    Triathlons.

Did Ironman Wales last year. By the time I’d paid the entry fee, a hotel for the weekend, and a weekends worth of food for me and the missis, plus replacing kit that I wore out doing the long training, and the couple of weekends there for course recces, turned out almost £2500 for the one race!

Then there were the build up races.

Then the brownie point gaining treats.

Oh my. I commented on the “what slippers” thread. Now I’m commenting on the what hoover thread!  What has my life become :-(

We have a George, wet vac version of Henry. It’s 30 year’s old and still awesome after mega abuse (think 3 house renos)

However it doesn’t have the spinney beater things for carpets.

Also have a 7 year old corded Dyson which has just packed up (motor smells of burning, but will replace it cheap enough. That is a good machine.

Got a cordless Dyson a year ago. That is great as it is so easy to use that we actually hoover more. If there’s a little mess it’s just a whizz and done. Whereas with corded we were more like wait till we have a proper mess.

So, if you have a “clean” house ie  no building/diy projects I’d be getting the v8 Dyson.

If you arever doing big works I’d go Numatic.

My missis goes nuts when any sycamore sapling appears in our garden.

she knows her shizzle about these things and says they will get right under the house and cause all sorts of problems.

and they are a pain to get out as that bit is my job!

MIG welding is easy enough to pick up with a bit of googling and having a look at the UK welding forums. It’ll be fine for the chunky stuff you are talking about. You can MIG weld car panels with a bit of care and practice.

If buying new equipment gasless seems to work well enough, although having done my apprenticeship as a fitter welder some 30+ years ago, I prefer MIG with gas.

I have a 160 amp Clarke MIG welder set up with CO2 gas in a “pub gas” bottle. First thing I made with it was a little wheeled trolley for the welder and bottle set up :-)

Pub gas works out really cheap and lasts ages with the small amount of welding I do these days. Recently repaired a bed frame and a wheelbarrow!

I also picked up a Lincoln TIG inverter a while back, but haven’t had chance to get gassed up and have a play yet. That works out a bit more expensive as it uses “posher” gases, and will take a bit more practice to get even remotely competent.

Even I’ve just bought a P, And I’m a bona fide tight as a ducks arse.

Site works perfectly now. It was either gonna piss me off so much that I’d just slink away, or actually pay a small amount for something that I use a lot, enjoy, and that “someone” has to pay for.

I think for 1.99 per month, for something I look at lots, is great value.

I think it is the way forward.

I’ve even read a bit of the current issue too.

I have varifocal specs, and also use varifocal contacts.

I just get on an ride and don’t overthink it. They just work for me.

    More detail…..

Specs are Specsavers thin and light rimless reactolites. +1.5 and +3.5 so a reasonable bit of difference between them. They just worked for me from the first time I put them on in the shop , drove the 20+ miles home in complete confidence.

Sometimes I just get on my bike and ride and don’t even think about what I have on my eyes. My preference is contacts with Oakleys, but I just sometimes forget or CBA, and jump on in my specs. The reacto bit is good for that too.

I also run in my specs sometimes when I forget I have them on, and that is fine too, and have done 10 milers with no problem, whereas I would normally not wear any eye correction for running. With the specs on the reading bit isn’t really a problem unless it’s on very techy downhill trails.

For contacts I use a varifocal in my good eye, so +1.5 with “low add”, with just a standard +3.5 in my weaker eye. This works well. You brain just sorts it all out and that combo allows reading and distance without having to dig readers our of my bag. I did try varifocals in both eyes, but that wasn’t good, they are a little blurry at distance. I didn’t even make it out of the opticians with those in. With the one of each I happily drove home by which time i’d even forgotten I’d got them in.

Use ours most days. Especially good on a winter night watching satellites and shooting stars.

its our second one. First one we had for 7 years and left it when we moved house.

once you get into the rhythm of use and chlorine it takes no time to do.

Go in clean so no mtb mud, make up, sun cream etc, and don’t wash your cozzies. All that stuff gets washed off in the tub and makes the water cloudy.

Get some acrylic glasses for when you want wine or beer (they don’t break).

cost about a tenner a week to run in reality.

ours was from Three Counties Hot Tubs in Hereford. Good service. Also been impressed with the guys at Welsh Hot Tubs near Aberystwyth.

Torn ligament in my knee, awaiting MRI.

So I will be sitting about feeling miserable.

But probably drinking beer and being waited on by ‘er indoors. Although it won’t be service with a smile as I seem to have knackered the plans for our week off work by crocking my leg.

I’ve just bought a Vaude Cruiser bag from Evans with my 3x Tesco vouchers. Not used yet but fits my HT and Gravel frames nicely and holds spares/tools, gels, and a bar with a bit of room to spare. I have dropper posts so saddle packs don’t work so well with them.

I also considered the Deuter Front Triangle bag, which looks a little bigger, but didn’t need that much space. Might get one of those anyway in future if I do need a bit more capacity.

I’m slap bang in the middle of mid-Wales.

A couple of decent natural loops around Rhayader.

Could also probably get you a decent route in the Dyfi forest near Machynlleth.

local shop in Builth do a good xc ride on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Not that far from Nant yr Arian, Black Mountain Bike Park and BPW.

a bit sea swimming in Aberystwyth (there’s a regular group there) or in the river near Brecon, or the sea at Aberdyfi followed by the best ice cream ever at Holgates outside of Tywyn.

Could possibly park your van on our drive for a night if it’s not actually a bus! Plenty of room but a bit of a tight turn in for an actual bus.

And be good to get a couple of the other locals on here who I don’t know to join us too.

ping me an email once you have your dates sorted.
