My parents ran a shop many years ago.

Had a till exactly like that, but not painted, just varnished wood.

Fixed the steam valve on my built in coffee maker.

The steam/water wand has been dripping and then running water out, eventually to the point that there wasn’t enough pressure going in to the coffee holder to get a brew out.

No instruction manuals available. No spare parts available.

Brass screw type valve with a taper that goes into a hole to control and stop flow. Pitted and gouged taper, fixed by spinning it up in electric drill and re surfacing on various grades of wet and dry paper.

Stopped the drip, and now holds full pressure again so I can have decent coffee again.

2nd hand mtb chainset with smaller chainring.

I’ve got a 32 oval on one, pretty sure I could get a 30 on there too.

Bangers and mash and mushy peas and gravy.

Brandy and coke (pour a large one, sip some neat, then top up with coke).

Ed Sheeran (I know, dont judge me, it’s that mix one with guest artistes which is actually quite listenable)

No idea if the production values are any good though ;-)

    Thank you for the explanations.

Resonates with why I like some tracks more than others.

Oh dear. I must be some sort of pariah! I have no idea what good “production values” looks or sounds like.

    Any explanations welcome.

I just listen to a song and either like or not. Dont look any deeper.

I do have very varied tastes, but not very technical.

    Great thread avdave2.

Sounds like Steve lived a life!

One or two things bring back memories for me too.

I have some of those soldering irons, and Amal carbs, and have used grinding paste on old British motorbike valves.

Never heard of Swedish plate money.

    Fascinating stuff.👍

I would suggest to do no strenuous exercise for quite some time. Whether you’ve had symptoms or not.

You are more likely to pick up bugs when you’ve done hard efforts.

When suffering or recovering you need to give it many weeks. Dont rush to hit it hard. When you think you are ready give it another week.

I’ve just been doing a couple of 30-40 minute turbo spins when watching something on the telly or online. Just spinning the legs to keep them moving.

    What about Woodrup?

    Up in that there Yorkshire.

I have a lovely 1970s Woodrup, and would have a new one built by them too of I was looking for a new steel roadie.

This is getting quite nasty isn’t it.

My mrs has taken a few steps backwards this week. We started self isolation 3 weeks ago. She was feeling a bit better but still coughing last weekend, then started feeling worse early this week.

Not tested bud had 111 call back from clinician who said pretty much positive.

The breathing exercises including lying face down are really helping, as well as getting plenty of fresh air, sleeping with windows open etc.

And not exerting herself at all. Not even potting up a few plants!

I had symptoms January and February but nothing since. Just hoping I stay clear now on.

Best wishes to all of you suffering with it, and those who have lost friends and family.

    Just get on with it.

I do everything by hand. Pick axe and shovel, never had a mini digger in! 😁

Just whacked out 40 square metres of tarmac drive. Dug out 6 inches of road stone base, and shovelled in a good few tonnes of topsoil, and levelled and seeded to lawn.about 2 weeks and I’ve been working at home full time too.

I do shit like this instead of going to a gym and its loads cheaper.

Can you try some different wheels?

See if it’s the same or not.

    Simple test.

I think my motor will get a decent going over during the coming week or two.

Given that it takes a while, I plan to do something along the lines of above but spread over a couple of days, as it’s a big car.

Thinking do the wash and clay thing then polish and wax/seal the horizontal surfaces (roof/bonnet) on day one, then the vertical surfaces day two.

    Sound alright?

Never done detailing before. Any good websites for the basics?

I’ve been home based for around 15 years. I wouldn’t go back to office based unless my office was no more than 5 minutes walk away.

I often meet up with colleagues or direct reports in coffee shops “halfway”, and do (did) still travel to meetings but not every week. Sometimes only once a month.

Does the social interaction enough for me and my team members.

I hope this is a change to more home/flexible working for many, particularly for environmental and personal time reasons as much as anything.

I travel to London a bit for work and it always seems crazy that thousands of people are going that way to work, while thousands of people are going in the opposite direction for work.

Think I need to find a better way to fill the next two or three years until the event than starting aimless threads on the forum!

    NO!

We need this to carry on and build in to an epic.

I’m not that fussed on bivvying, particularly in UK, but do fancy doing something a bit epic like this.

But I need a bit of inspiration, and I like to plan and mull lots (or is that procrastination)😂

@franksinatra great news. Keep on improving fella.

Sounds like you already know to not rush your recovery.

I have a mantra “when you think you are ready to come back, give it another week”.

Not a farmer, but I have worked in the regulatory side of this a little.

The real answer is “it depends” 😁

Good environmental practice would be to leave a decent margin for wildlife etc.

Sometimes payments are available to compensate for the loss of crop production if in a management scheme.

Sometimes the field might have some protection on it SSSI, or maybe length of time as grassland.

Some farmers just maximise land use, sometimes within the law/guidance, sometimes not.

Only talk if it’s your expertise

    I literally don’t have an expertise 😧

You might have noticed that I’ve been quiet too! 😄

Props to the clever people (TiRed et al) and the front liners.

A question from me though…..any confirmation on cases “before it all kicked off”?

I’m convinced I had it January, all the symptoms we now know about, was ill for about 4 weeks, then another month before I felt remotely back to normal.

We have been self isolating for 8 days now as my wife has all the symptoms, she’s fine, but we are sure as can be without a test.

A big gap between infection between us. Just two of us at home, work from home so together a lot.

An amusing one from work yesterday, as we have moved 20,000 staff to home working, we have received a number of requests for ” assertive technology” 😄

What is it with you lot and all that clutter, and many big screens, and music and guitars and stuff.

Keep it clean and simple. Been doing this for 15 plus years.

Next job expenses claim. Might be the last one for a while!

And yes, that is a defiant cactus!

    Nope!

But if you are nearly there, happy with your “situation”, and the house is the right one, then I’d probably carry on.

    Starting afresh now, nope.

We have been helping our son and his family save for a house with the aim of getting a deposit down in September, we may well save for a little longer to see what plans out.

I think there may be some favourable interest rates around at the end of all this.

    I’m a Civil Servant.

Been home based for over 10 years.

Normally 50 hour weeks with a bit of travel.

In current circumstances still doing 50 hour weeks with no travel, helping get and keep our IT running now that we have 20-odd thousand staff wfh.

    Bloody lazy civil Servants.

Waves at Kuco as I think we might be distantly connected.

A normal narrow-wide ring doesn’t work with Shimano 12 speed due to the shaping of the inner chain plates

That’s where I’m going. Is it the right chainring?

    MaryHinge
    Free Member

Ok, so a triple chainring with the ring in the middle. That’s fine.

Is it a narrow wide ring or a normal ring I.e. taken off your triple?
