Call 2660 theft of a car – was parked in disabled bay without badge so has actually been towed away by council in Manchester #gmp24

However their vans use 2.9l petrol engines!! Yowser!
Ours had a LPG dual fuel, so cheaper than it’d first appear. We did far north-west and although there’s not LPG all over the place we only had to run for about 25 miles on petrol (and that was mainly due to me not paying attention…).

We used Big Tree this year – had a great week in one of their vans and they were lovely to deal with.

No MTB in this games. I don’t know why though or if it is a permanent thing.

How much maintenance did you do?
people maintain pedals? that’s crazy talk.

Only maintenance I’ve done on Times is squirt a wee bit of lube behind the rubber seal if it’s a wee bit squeaky. Numerous pairs over 12 years.

google navigation if you have a phone and unlimited data package. works just like a satnav, better even.

course, if you drive abroad at all, you’ll need some sort of stanav with maps, otherwise you’ll get absolutely pumped for roaming charges. i didn’t just spend as much as a budget satnav doing that, oh no… 😉

i’ve tried a garmin nuvi 245w and a tomtom of some description recently. preferred the tomtom, but bought the garmin as they sponsor a cycling team. 😉

Report below is a bit out of date now, but I'd be surprised if Laggan is at risk – presume the local community trust still involved and IIRC was intended as a "honeypot" to attract mtbers from elsewhere in national park.

I've not seen visitor numbers for other trail centres for a while. Anyone?

it'll be fine on a singlespeed. quite a few out there and a few sscx too.

no dundee velodrome* round this year (unfortunately), so 32×16 will be about right / always wrong. 😉

Think I have the original sketch of The Xylophone somewhere. Will have a dig though the vaults.
sadly, it appears to have gone to the trailbuilders sketchbook in the sky. i've sacked my archivist.

Dug 'em out, but it was dark in them thar woods – combined with a crappy camera mean that they're not the best of shots…

In terms of timeline, SnL followed directly on from Double XX timber stuff.

I have a few photos from the early years – will pop them up on Flickr later.

you have out of date info, you CAN race with discs in UCI races now
and you'd more than likely been able to race most races below national series and champs too.

If you ride a road bike, then they're very much like riding on the hoods. I love mine, will be going back on when I get some flattish bars for my new bike.

Nope. Previous conference was quite interesting and a good way to meet people, but doesn't actually seem to have resulted in a great deal. I wish the new SMBDC all the best of luck.

On a related note – what ever happened to the World Mountainbike Conference that was cancelled in 2009 and to have been postponed until 2010?

emmag – the event one? My understanding is that it's to be signed long before the SMBDC conference.

You wont be in a hurry to try L'Alpe de Kinghorn Loch then

or the Chapelberg (turn right at the top for Fife's only proper* switchback).

but look at the provision we have compared to England.
Yes, but it's not down to joined up thinking. Been there, read the consultant reports, wasted time at conferences, didn't get a t-shirt.

    what insurance?

over the whole forest estate, i'd imagine risk from built trails is swamped by other stuff.

bit of climbing, but can cut out top section by looping straight from pipedream to cannonball run. bottom jumpy section has a major re-jig and i reckon if you've done other reds with a tag along you'll be fine (have seen photos of a kid on a tag-a-long on the original version and he looked like he was having a whale of a time).

there's also an shared use path along the reservoir with a good views and a couple of picnic benches at the far end. shown on the map, but I don't think it's waymarked (if it is I didn't spot it).

Miles of forest roads from end of "multi-use" path to the western end.

    what JamieP said

can recommend Black Bos on Blackfriars Street (just off Royal Mile) for mainly veggie food, bar one side, restuarant the other. nice both sides.

Scottish CX races have been won on a singlespeed (although with a very handy rider on board).

No epic hills, but lots of wee ones will hurt a bit on ss.
