i doubt they look suspicious to folks t’other side of the screens who know what they’re looking for.

how often do you feel your life is in danger whilst road cycling
very, very rarely. a lot of annoyances that often make me a bit shouty, but can only think of three notable incidents ( involving vehicles two due to poor driving, one deliberate attempt to skim me) and one with a pothole that have damaged me, kit or bike over 10 years/50000 miles.

caveat: very little city riding in there – work on the western edge of Edinburgh and commuted to Linlithgow/Burntisland, mainly on A-class roads and dual carriageway.

i avoid cycle lanes / segregated facilities at all costs. no safer than the roads IME.

if the UK was really serious about safety for all road users it should:
    a) be much harder to obtain a driving licence
    b) be much, much easier to lose it

Insurance Ombubdsman- contact them. Advise her insurance company you will be putting in a complaint and asking for their help
pointless until you’ve complained to the insurance company first.

There’s forestry works going on on land with trails round us that were a community and FC collaboration, and they have committed to rebuilding them.
good luck with that. make sure you get that undertaking in writing.

they’ve got a giant butterfly net hidden in the sticky up bit )that they claim is a radar) and catch the missiles in that.

flew back from mallorca with them a couple of years ago. bikes handled fine. one of the lads was charged for an overweight box (road bike in a muckle hard case).

i wouldn’t fancy riding fixed without clipless pedals.

To start off with I’m worried about being clipped in though in case I need to get feet off in a hurry (going down hill).
    i wouldn’t worry about it.

no pad. superman style for me – bib longs up close and personal, bib shorts over the top. think i started doing that when an old pair of longs went a bit baggy round the erse area and snagged on saddle.

5 door – 1 bike – front wheel / saddle off and bung it in the back – needs to go in at a bit of an angle (unlike my old punto which took them straight). 2 bikes – needs back wheel off too. 3 bikes / 3 adults was easy enough with a bit of careful packing.

ours has been fine over 3 years/50k miles. slight problem last year with a leaky radiator, but only other gripe would be that the radio doesn’t seem to get on well with my mp3 fm transmitter… 🙂

And for comedy value, someone getting Kelpie’s badly wrong.

i used to live at the bottom of the hill in Linlithgow – it’s a turn up and follow your nose sort of a place. nowhere near the amount of riding that’s at drumlanrig, but if you’re local or passing then it’s worth a bit of an explore.

It’s very difficult for townies to understand the way the countryside works.
do you really think that? is it that your quaint country humour?

In their defence many do. It might be my skewed sense of things but I’ve noticed this tends to be COE etc, not neccesarily born agains and evangelicals. They seem to have a hard on for converting drunks with tea and biscuits.
ooh! what sort of biscuits. and can i have juice instead of tea?

thanks. we’ve (and when i say we, i don’t mean me 🙂 ) managed to destroy the remote key fob completely. quotes for replacement seem a little steep. could probably live with it if lock was on the proper side…

Makes sense, considering the DG has disbanded
um, CVDG still raised the cash for it all (including the signs on the waymarkers that have been removed. No CVDG, no trails at Carron Valley.

you’ll be looking for one of these. your lbs is likely to have them. if not, then pretty sure halfords stock them.

however, if you’re going to return to your car after puncture than why not just take a track pump with you?

best of all – get a decent pump for out on the trails / nip down the gym and work up your arms a little. 😉

i’ve done both of them twice. not much between them apart from midge levels – both great events.

10uBen feels like a major event. i prefer it as a course for racing solo (although I’d rather go for a normal ride at KT). camping field at KT is a little better.

i’m planning on both again this year and mebbe 10@Moray too.

Just after noon, Mrs Stanton lost her footing in the valley
close to Black Hill. The couple’s mobile phone had no reception, so a passing cyclist known only to them as Rob cycled to the nearest house, Logan Cottage, just off the A702, to get help from farmer Harry Robertson.

    <snip>

Recovering at home in Lanark Road West, Mrs Stanton said: “The ambulance people were so calm, so kind, friendly and very professional. Rob saved so much time cycling back and forward and Harry devoted so much time. I just want to thank them all.”
