as per usual.. i wrote a heap of stuff about it, it diodnt come out as i wrote it, the new site coupled with my computer doesnt mix well.

to cut a lonnnggg story short, its one of the most underrated bikes out there. ride it well before buying though to make sure you like it for everything you do in a ride. (climbing especially) a short ride might feel great but for me, it was later on i noticed a few hiccups as far as the height i ran the post goes on a medium coupled with my leg length etc.i`m not the only one that has mentioned the seat tube angles.. but itreally is something else as far as great suspension designs go.

Never judge a book by its cover. out of all the bikes over the past 20 years.. this is one of the finest examples.

with a fox 36 up front i loved it. just dont spoilt it by putting something up front that has inferior damping that cant cope when the going gets tough.

whats all this hammer, clamps, woods thing going on? like 2unfit2ride says, its the drive at fault. so why tweak something thats taking the brunt of another problem?

lol davidtay, you think 4 hours is a joke. most shop mechanics would consider 2 hours outragious to build a bike in a shed.. by thwapping bits on with a hammer! 25 mins tops.

To fit the mech to the hanger is an easy job.. but its not as easy to get right as the older style.a simple mistake can be made. the reason why you are experiencing what you said might be because of this.go through the instructions and you`ll notice something about fixing it to the hanger that might add up.its the only thing i can think of.

Its easy to read. :::throws down copy of R.A.D from 1988::: if you managed to read r.a.d. designed by NP (must have been on acid, kidding ;OP) then you can read anything lol.

If only magazines of today had what R.A.D had..

    you might need:

new clip-in bands for the inside of the front mech £free from a bike shop – £4ish?

new front mech – around £20 upwards.

new seatpost – £14 upwards (seatclamp comes with the titus)

bottom bracket – nothing new needed if you run a ht2 style unit at the moment.you might need to remove spacers if you run a 68mm bb,not add them.

the forks will fit as they are or possibly need cut down as thr titus xs headtube is short.

the rear brake hose might need trimmed down as it could be too long.

The xs motolite has one of the lowest stand-overs out there for 5″ travel.

Cheers for the comments on FTB folks :::writes out more cheques:: heh.

Druid, sorry for not getting back sooner. Im afraid we have no ti motos in the sale.

Elaine, dont worry about it being an american brand. theres no imperial sizing that’s going to get in the way of metric or anything. spares are easy to come by and can be had by anyone in the u.k within a few days as the dealers are nicely placed around the country. usually theres a dealer within 200 miles so a visit to one shouldnt be too tricky if you wanted to comfirm sizing and the kind of build you plan on going for.
you just need to find out what type of bike will suit the riding you plan to do. you can do this by thinking about the places you have ridden recently and keep it all in mind when you get asked about it come the time. consider where you might be riding in the future, where you normally ride in a typical month, and whether or not you think youll be needing a tougher bike or not.
you mention all mountain, also consider your weight and just how hard you are on youre current bike. you dont want to be sold “all mountain” kit when a lot of it could be a little overkill.. possibly spoiling the ride for you.let them know what you have at the moment and what you like about it/hate about it as well. it all helps.

RE: “Fox bushes are £1 each so dont believe the £20 bit” comment.. i can agree with you, brownpants… I mentioned £20 as thats around the RRP from Mojo for a full set of reducers and 2x DUs. I didnt quote a few quid for DUs alone as fox mojo recommend replacing all worn parts together as thats the normal thing to carry out in a repair. If a bike shop or shock servicing outfit recommended to replace only half the worn parts that pressed into each other, the customer would probably be questioning it. replacing d.us alone can often do the job but as a bike shop or from mojo`s point of view, we both have to offer the best option and replacing one half of the problem isnt the best thing to be telling the customer. If a customer insists on trying the D.U only option then its definitely worth a go though seeing as how they are so cheap! i hope you can see it from a bike shop or mojo point of view. i do agree with you regarding the cost though.:O)

Druid, were you being sarcastic to Jojo? lol. I think shes being sarcastic to me regarding the “particularly the delightful MartinXYZ ” bit. I sprayed my tea over the monitor reading that one. lol.
Im still trying to find out who photoshopped her in that position riding down two Ton Drop on the notorious laggan black, though.some photoshop skills there but not quite good enough for my beady eye.. i can still make out the the kitchen sink around the edges of her hands ;OP

Aye,like stuart (the cheques in the post lol) says,Fat Tread are no longer the importer, its now Axel Imports based down south.we still have a few road and mtb frames going in the sale along with 2009 models arriving over the past week or so. theres a grey ano, blue ano and an ivory matt white racer-x hanging up going cheap off the top of my head with some ti deals too.

Dave, the Dumfries side of things is Fat tread.sale frames are split between here and there and are sent up to the shop if theres any interest.

Elaine, a bearing kit costs around £37 for the racer-x/motolite and a fox bush kit will cost around £20.

know someone up here thats just been caught in a 70mph stretch at around 104mph.if we had average speed camera`s in place then he could say in court that it was a very brief burst of speed and maybe prove he was averaging something like 60mph before the incident.. like i was averaging 38-43mph between carrbridge and slochd the other day then went up to 71mph once i got to the dual cw :O)

“U2 – totally awesome, you can certainly see why they are the biggest band in the world…………….”

    I cant.

Just because something is the biggest doesnt mean to say its the best. i liked The Fly and Mysterious ways but thats it.its the same old crap with them.. and as i read a magazine last night i had J.Ross on in the background. I heard some group come on and wondered who it was.. first thing i heard was what i thought was an american accent. was that just me? ::makes wanka jesture to U2:::

i run the tap until hot water comes through, fill the kettle and lightly splash it onto all the windows.then i go around and aggresively pour the lot onto it. if i need more roasting hot water i go get more.ive got a few chips in the screen and never had a screen crack doing this.

the temps are, obviously, around zero right down to -13c.through November the whole month was pretty much around -3c min and i used hot water each time.ive tried warm and compared to how snow and ice melts with the hot water.. i think ill be sticking to what ive been doing for years as its the best for quick clearing.
I`m starting to wonder if folk on here do things certain ways because thats what is scientifically proven by brainiacs stuck inside some lab.. nowhere near the real world. As for starting the car up and leaving it running as you have a cup of tea, thats not getting the engine etc working up to temp correctly at all. you could damage parts prematurely doing that.common sense.not only that, someone could steal the thing.

I wont keep quiet if i crack my screen. i WILL let you know.

Ive just spent 10 mins sifting thru stuff to find out who this aviemoron is! thought it was still the old name you had.
The 32 mile drive home from Avie to Inv was averaging 40mph earlier.the temps dropping will turn the A9 into death cookie central tomorrow morning.its going to be dodgy. we need to get the skis and snowboards out to do some late night 20 mile stints behind yer 4x4transportawagon with a rope and bungee setup lol. as for the mountain, i dont think they will clear it for an early opening. got to face it, after the snowfall today and tonight and the folk driving up in the morning, its going to be a nightmare.i drove to glenmore at lunchtime and the trees had a fair dump of snow waiting to drop off them. sunday onwards could have amazing powder in places.

105 should go to 150bhp with a map LOL. next you`ll be telling us that the torque really does go up around 25-30% too (this bit isnt aimed at you, molgrips). dont believe what they say as its way over the top in most cases.
they arent spending time on the map,its a set map thats used for each make/model.superchips etc would be charging a lot more than 350ish quid for a 3-5 hour session if they were mapping the car as well as possible and guess what? they arent. its all very well saying “check out what we got out of this car after doing so and so” but what the hell is the whole power curve looking like? how efficient is it elsewhere other than around max revs?

buy good tyres with the money, more frequent oil changes/filter changes and dont let these folk twiddle around boosting power etc to gain whatever.. the 1.9 tdi in 90bhp or 105/110 could go on and on for years if its left alone.

do you turn the bass, treble etc up to the max on the hifi to get the most out of it?

    lol.

Ive sat at the top of the goat track and alladins in schnechda waiting to get the balls up to go in alone with no helmet.unstrapping and walking very slowly back up alladins on my first attempt because i thought i took the wrong route was probably the scariest moment of my life.

no helmets though. whiplash once a week with a sore bonce was part of it all!

If its a shimano then it might have a sleeve on the driveside. It could be butting up against it.it it looks like theres one there you could try removing it. this will allow the arm to pull on a little more once torqued.i removed one on one of my bikes and torqued it to 55nm and threadlocked the fixing bolt. never had a problem with it.

snowing on and off all day today at work. the carpark wasa melted snow that refroze and was a skating rink for a few hours. after dark it froze again and its back to the same ice rink its been for the past 5 weeks.

Inverness is icy tonight, the road at the back of the house is glistening like the sky above.so many stars visable.

    ffs.why does that happen?

anyhows.. if i had to choose then i`d buy a pair of those bonty 1.8 jones mud x things in tubeless. ive got one on the rear and on the hardtail its comfy and seems to roll well considering its tread and girth.hooks up well too.

I have one on the singlespeed and ive got it around 55/60psi.its on the rear and seems to dig down well enough for me to not have a bad word against it.maybe in some clay-like mud it would be a problem but we dont have much clay stuff up here. its fine around contin but its harsh and i

    r

m in the mud if it means a little more comfort.i would normally ride on something bigger. If i dont race then i dont need that advantage of never spinning on the spot and needing to dig down so its no big deal.makes things more intresting too.

remember to get a 1.5/1.75 tube for it.stuffing bigger into it can be a pain.

    ugh repost!..

    This thread caught my eye.

I dont think theres a brand out there right now that i like more than Charge at the moment.I visited the site last week and we talked about it at work.i liked the vids,profiles,parts,frames.. and graphics.the saddles have got to be one of the best things in mtb over the past year or so.cheap, good looking and comfortable. If the big players in saddle production got their act together and pulled this one off they would have been onto a winner.. but they didnt.

    moving on.. :O)

    Tim ,i

ll do as well,if not better than the other similar brands that we have seen over the years.

one question ive often wondered.. since “santa” dropped off my mrd expert over 24 years ago.. why havent we seen anything with brazing and chroming that good since?! its shocking! loved that bike.the last time i saw you race was a VERY wet day at cumbernauld with geth and the rest of them.. you were signing on the dodgy old tour bus. the weather was so bad, nobody looked happy.. well, there was a few.the few that witnessed geth down the 2nd straight.unreal.
