Ive been searching for Chief Xcel – Is it good enough for ya? but cant find it.hope i dont have to go digging out the record.surely its on web somewhere.
martinxyzFree Memberthis is from around 1993.some people have said this is the best hip hop track of all time.the scratch along with the samples are all put together so well.. so well considering he made it in something like a broom cupboard. you have to listen to it all the way through to judge it though.still got it on 12" although i bought it around 94 when it was re issued.best 4 quid spent ever.
shadow – influx. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpPpveBHQv0martinxyzFree MemberThese two tracks are from hip hop albums but could easily sway the narrow mindedness of those that recon all hip hop is yo yo m**f*^$* yo kind of stuff.
I like the video as much as the track. Beastie Boys – somethings got to give. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk43YILTYNw&feature=relatedA nice fresh change when it came out although out of the 90`s.buck65 – wicked and weird. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wyyVh3uc5Y
martinxyzFree Memberahhh,nearly forgot this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7bnvWLkz_g
first time i heard it in the honeycomb,Edin.. the bass appeared as the dj mixed it in and i didnt have a clue what it was. took me weeks to finally suss it out.

martinxyzFree Memberseeing as how at least 2 out of 3 folk from Jesus Jones/the shop assistants and possibly carter have been on STW,i wonder who would win in an xc race?

oops,sorry for posting this :O) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wU9fZkXHqns&feature=related
martinxyzFree Member"hip hop kicked yer shoe gazing asses!"lol i like that one.i like hiphop,indy..and all sorts.
oh and that lazy days vid looks like it was filmed at the final jump section of Golspie!
martinxyzFree Memberride – taste.i like the original version better.would love to hear it used in a well put together mtb vid with onboard footage descending some big fast off pistey mountain with the playback and music slowed down a little.i can only dream. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nry5hpHGizI&feature=related
ride – drive blind (on the word) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbyIHCuipYc&feature=fvw
electronic – get the message.90`s, but i dont see it fitting here very well..oh well! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7sVSSb2mU4
martinxyzFree Memberyep, his teeth would have gone straight thru yer tyres if it got a chance.;O)
go back, same time next week and wait for him to return on his usual dog walk.. make some kind of muzzle up and wear it. tell him with an evil glint in yer eye that he is very lucky you decided to wear it today.
martinxyzFree Memberyes. but doing something UNnaughty just wouldnt be you.. would it? lol.
martinxyzFree Membersame bike as my new one, OnandOn. the seats high.. you nipping down to the shops that day?!
martinxyzFree MemberIts a big threadless shell.you can fit press (or stw hammer) in cups with loose ball bottom bracket sets or if its a profile/redline 3piece crank then you could fit a few sealed units that were made for those cranks.a 1 piece crank along with a 1 piece bb unit can also be fitted.bullseye made 2 piece cranks come to think of it.so 1,2 or 3!
dmr do a kit called wonder cups that press in so you can run an mtb bb unit in there.go for the mrk2 version if you want to run HT2 style units in there as they have a revised face on either side that will make the outboard bearings fit correctly.
martinxyzFree Memberthank the lord crc were sold out of that!
imagine her family and friends asking what she got from santa?
A pink perv!
martinxyzFree MemberHi Tracey
The pic shows 20" in writing but they are talking wheel diameter there.usually in bmx they will have a size written down like that on websites/catalogues,but they will be meaning top tube length. The Jane has a 21" top tube.not sure if thats a mistake but its 21".
I am 5foot8 and have moved onto a top tube an inch longer. its harder to jump and throw around although its a bit more roomy for sprinting.a few other older riders have recently bought new bikes with longer top tubes and have found the extra inch a bit of a jump as well.. some not enjoying it as much as they expected.
please try and get her to try the Jane and also try out a few shorter bikes as well to see what she thinks.in 2 or 3 years time and at 5 foot 8ish? she will still be able to ride the shorter top tubed bmx no problem at all.. and by that time,a bmx is usually WELL past it anyway!martinxyzFree MemberTo answer the the original question..
Yes,most of us do like it when we open a mag to see whats new.looking back, this time last year i was going back each day to the interbike and eurobike reports on the forums and i would consider them some of my fav reads/views of the year.its lots of new stuff – all at once. whats not to like? since starting mtbing ive always liked those issues of mags that run page after page of all the new stuff thats coming to us.. along with the weird and wonderful stuff that never will.
The reason i like it.. is because i,and thousands of others on here, have a love for bikes that you dont have right now,and possibly never will have.stick around for a few more decades and it might change.until then, dont moan about a mountainbike magazine covering the best and freshest stuff thats free for you to read about.
Is this the first time you have questioned magazine editors about going to a trade show thats completely to do with their magazine? If you think they can sit in the office and do a better job that all of us just by sifting through the internet and come up with views, opinions and knowledge of how the new bikes work and ride thats one step ahead of us without leaving the office, then yer badly mistaken.
martinxyzFree Memberhad a full on dh intense in for work and had a look around it as it looked like it had quite a bit of use. found about 3 fractures with some other not so sure marks.
it was bought off ebay – the guy should be ashamed. (it looked like tippex was used to cover up the crack on the underside of the headtube/downtube)
martinxyzFree Membergo for it,pinches. but remember tyre width is limited. wider tyres will fit.. but they wont work when you get to a certain width.once you push them around you soon find out why you need to get a wider rim or go back to a narrower tyre.
martinxyzFree Membershe should have been called or told when she dropped the bike off roughly how much it was going to be.sounds like the bike needed more than pads removed, pads fitted and cable tension/centering adjusted.
the mechanic probably didnt sleep that night after the utter mare he had with it lol! still, you dont go ahead and do double the work without calling.
martinxyzFree Memberthe elise and exige just look so good. its cool that they come from just down the road.have the americans ever come out with anything that handles well and looks that good for that kind of money? i cant think of anything.
seeing as how my rusty disposable car isnt the slowest up to this point in the thread.. heres a pic of it.uprated suspension with eibach springs and big brake conversion before any turbo`s here too!
martinxyzFree Memberyou have mail. sorry its a bit big i should have saved one a bit smaller.
no i`m not local to it. its an still an hour away!
martinxyzFree Memberlike mike says, forget all the stuff on it that she wont be using like pegs and a gyro.
check out what s.e. racing do along with haro, redline etc.after a ride on a race bike compared to some of the above, she will soon find out the diffrence in weight and how nice a race bike is to ride and jump.she wont need anything stronger being new to it all,get one the right size and it will be more than strong enough for what she will be putting it through.
also, in mtb we would most likely go for a steel hardtail given the choice these days but its not so much of a big deal in bmx.most of the new school race bikes are alu and are fairly stiff (not a bad thing in bmx) ive bought a haro team issue for its stiffness (quite a bit over what i had but by far not the stiffest out there) and the speed out of the gate compared to my steel mid school bike is quite a bit.
first things first though, get to a bmx track and hopefully turn up when racing is taking place.ask to check out and hopefully ride a few bikes.then maybe blag a shot of a street/park kinda bike to see what she thinks of that.
get to a track first though ;O)
martinxyzFree Memberis that a cliff in front of the bike, druid? looks like it might be.
martinxyzFree Memberif you mix middleburn and shimano,it will never be possible to set up correctly.
shimano design all three rings, front mech, chain etc to work as well as possible. as soon as you mix and match then the amount of front mech cable pull for certain gear combos will never match up to the new position of this chainring thats been added.the centering of each of the new chainring/and or the thickness in certain areas will be a little diffrent to a set up than with 3 shimano rings.not to mention the problem you are currently having.
aftermarket rings can wear well and look lovely.. but once you mix in a 32t made by middleburn and attempt to set up the cable tension etc to get it functioning exactly how you had it before, you can pick out the small diffrences by looking closely as you change gear slowly on the workstand. (yes, fire through all the gears fast and you wont notice.quick, get it off the workstand and get the customer out the door as quick as you can why dont you – nice one.)
its not just the once.this has been the case for as long as i can remember.you mix and match then you have to accept slight diffrences and to be fair, its not just some of middleburns rings.these are diffrences that might not ever cause a problem but are diffrences that are one step backwards from the best shimano could come up with in the first place.
Then you will find folk that dont care about the small diffrences, some will say they dont notice a thing.these folk will want hard wearing rings that will shift well.they can accept that they arent quite as good as shimano.not the best, but they will shift well.
give a gear crunching beginner a mix and match set up and you will more often than not find them having problems as they dont know how to shift cleanly to dodge the problem. If you want good wearing rings up front then at least fit all three middleburns.if you want the best shifting, althought it might not last anywhere near as long, fit shimano.
we fit soft compound tyres and soft grips but how often do folk moan about them wearing out too soon? sometimes, but you are more likely to hear praise on how well they enhanced the ride for the short time they were in use.
Its a pity folk dont have the same views on their drive.
martinxyzFree Memberthat looks really nice.
wish i could get that exact kit on frames that are over a pound lighter and get them down to just over 32lbs.
miracle scales.. where do you get them? ;O)
lovely looking bike though.
martinxyzFree Memberthis "yea yea yeah" that folk seem to be using over the past 4 or 5 months-ish when agreeing with you on something.
and the word "so" thrown into the middle of things.
i really do so hate that.
martinxyzFree Memberwas there yesterday reading the sign but didnt take a pic lol.not a problem though,i might be heading to the beach on north coast early tomorrow mornin so i might be able to drop by and snap one on the passing.
martinxyzFree MemberI did the bealach loop a few weeks ago and putting that aside.. its the ride back from incheril to achnasheen that probably beats any track.infact right up to garve is nice.. infact garve thru to contin is amazing!
fek track days.
scottish late evening riding over the west coast and back is a no brainer. no cars,no camera vans..
just deer.
martinxyzFree MemberRE: squatting and hunkering down in its travel when climbing.
that sounds odd for a whyte E5.have you messed around trying diffrent rebound settings/pressure? when was the shock last serviced?
sorry if all the above is all well but ive never heard of this bike doing what you said by anyone thats owned one. havent noticed it myself either.martinxyzFree Memberif you had taken the kid along.. we might have been reading about this on the national news. go back, grab him by the throat and buzz his head on the fence to see how HE likes it.
scream in his face with laughter "it happenss alllll the time!"
martinxyzFree Memberthey are useless in the Inverness branch too. i took the car in to get valves replaced and i returned to find the young lad twirling away at the bolts.. only to find out what other garages have done in the past. Over tightening them! he went over to the manager and had words, then they told me the hub was stripped.I told them that there was no way it was stripped when it came in as i check them quite often and that i only had them off at the front less than a month ago and only used the supplied spanner to tighten them by hand.. in a x-cross tightening pattern.
the older guy started to swap around the bolts to try and get things to magically fix (also spinning them on with an air gun with fek knows what torque setting lol)and he said that i needed to get around to the nearest pug garage to get 2 new bolts. couldnt believe it. I told him that i would NOT be driving anywhere with 2 bolts holding the wheel on that had 4 bolts holding it on when it arrived, and asked him to go around to buy me two new bolts.the manager was out at this point and he semi stormed off back to the office after telling the guy to go buy 2 new bolts.
once this was sorted i only noticed a week later that the tyres were removed more than one at a time.. and the numpty kid fitted the directional tyres on back to front.unfortunately on the way home from work one night there was a flash flood that had cars on the A9 down to 40mph on the Dual carriageway and fek me, what a dog to drive in with tyres on the wrong way around.
so dangerous.
keep away from kf.
