We pushed some guy out of the carpark outside the workplace last year. he revved it to hell and span it while we got sprayed with snow.. we told him to take it easy and started rocking it again.he finally sussed it out.

He managed to get out the carpark.. then he returned later and got stuck once again. couldnt believe it.

Most scots burn up here quite easy.heres 2 reasons.

1)Theres nothing up above blocking the uv like other places in the country. Its clear up above. Smogless!

    2) Check out Descent World for Jon Es report on his skin cancer.. and how he found out that the sun was so much stronger than when he was in europe.

Notter.. hardly any of our main roads or back roads get treated for us going to work.you rarely see gritters and snowploughs out these days.Up here there has been winters with temps down to -25c over the past 10 years and its been so cold that when you walked outside, eyeballs couldnt cope with it.once that was overcome, getting into the car and driving home 30 odd miles wasnt great either but it was possible.very much like driving offroad but possible. Its the warmer temps that cause more havoc and our temps have been similar to the whole of the uk as of late.the mention of temps dropping down 3 or 4c doesnt add up either. It should make it easier on the snow that they appear to have on the roads.

    Jimbo in sunny brighton..

sorry for coming across as a god behind the wheel. you picked it up all wrong. im crap in snow and usually take it a lot slower to make up for the lack of skills if and when it went wrong.. but i still get there.

If the speed dropped to 1mph-5mph and everyone with summer tyres dropped pressures right down, and everyone knew not to put the foot down and take it really easy on corners.. then they would have got home.the wind speeds that threw the snow over the country this week havent been harsh and as a result you can see that most places that got the most snow between both ends of the country pretty much got the same amount.

The A9 has suffered over the past 5 years or so and lately they have been cutting back on the spending so its going to get even worse.the past few drives home have been over snow that was there in the morning. nothing is getting cleared.everyone gets home though.nobody stops off in bedding shops like hamsters.

well we could have an "offroad evasive action practical" as well.

refresher tests to warn folk of "mad tony" approaching from behind screaming "coming through!" as he bounces past. lol

yeah,"ice rink practical" around the country should be part of the driving test.. and with ice rinks probably within 80 odd miles of everyone, get it on! probably help save a lot of the ice rinks too.

having said that,i will go and nail the car later on lol.

aye,but only thru powder.nearer the end of that song on ice, and i would be getting scared.

with heavy snow on the trees it seems to deaden the noise.everything sounds muffled.planning on going out soon, its about 6 inches on top of the garden wall, hasnt started melting, and looks like theres more here than Aviemore!

oops, ive exceeded 70mph on mine. i left them on all year and forgot. hardly worn at all but nice and soft compound gives you confidence on wet roads too.

steer clear of cheap tigars. they have a drop of plastic in the compound lol.

slw, thats what i had today.some white merc van overtook on dual carriageway heading south from Inverness and passed me whilst cutting thru untouched snow on a climb.I dont mind driving in it but these days its the worry of folk sliding across the road into you that bothers me.

a few years ago in whiteout conditions an L200 hit the front of a lorry next to me as i pulled off the A9 into a slip road and the guy luckily only split his head wide open. we put a jacket of his around his head and told him it didnt look too bad.the mess of what sprayed out the back of his truck is still at the side of the road 2 years on.this all happened with each vehicle approaching each other about 45mph.

stuartie i had 205/40/17 and i couldnt drive out of the north exit from aviemore heading north one year. couldnt climb up that brae! yours must be a nightmare and very dangerous even taking it easy. get a set of steel 15 inch with bigger profile tyres (to keep cost down of the winter rubber) 185s would be fun.

ive got gislaved euro frost 3 up front. they seem to grip well under braking and pulling off in all sorts of conditions seems to be fine.

64 odd miles of snow covered A9 today as a test! this included stops on daviot hill with standing starts. i dropped to 22psi before leaving and they worked fine (and before some donkey stops by to tell me that dropping pressure doesnt work – it works with me!)

well you buy PG tea bags after seeing Johnny Vegas throwing the bag into a cup.

daniel nearly fell down the gap in the vid at one point.theres blood on the wall on the right and pedal gashes.the sequence shot from the other side to the filming position shows his footing messing up half way through the 180 mid air.dodgy.

Hi Keith, couldnt view that link!

    I found this earlier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8t41avFuCc

Thanks for replying folks.i read the beginner link above and although its good, it still puts more info in my mind that seems to put me off buying one.Its for a present so they might not want to be buying spares straight away.it might not even last a few days without the need for new parts! the cx3 looks good and having read about pitch, and john mentioning to go for collective pitch.. i would probably go for something like the honey bee if it had collective but at that price it probably wouldnt.the cx3 sounds good and it looks good in flight for a beginner but after reading that guys story in one of the above links, it sounds like it could be one of those helicopters that will cost a lot with the replacing of bits all the time, along with upgrades, things burning out a bit too soon.(maybe im worrying about nothing here) but for 120quid,i suppose thats all im going to get. He did mention something that he would go for as a beginner but,yep.. it was £285.I dont see that as expensive but maybe im onto a bad idea for a xmas pressie here.

Its turning out to be a bit like getting a puppy for xmas in so many ways.. if you see what i mean.

thanks for all the info though.im not sure what the heck to do.

no way,the last one looks out of focus and im not a fan of using a lens that makes things look bigger or further than they actually were in jumping shots.
the hans rey stuff wows folk and the camera definately hasnt made it look bigger or better than what it was actually like.its dodgy stuff, end of!.the tweaked 360? bmx pic isnt amazing.although its not an amazing pic thats made me go wow,its the trick thats made me wow more than any of the other pics.to be able to do that is just unreal.

design a new front end for the maverick and see if you can better it.

after all.. you have one of the best rear ends going as it is.

thanks mikk, the cx3 looks so steady indoors.I found this link to the local shop
http://www.invernessmodelshop.com/cart/view_record.php?item_query=SPIRIT CX 2.4GHZ CONTRA ROTATER&section=RC Aircraft&id=639&s=0&script=htm/our_store/our_store.php its a spirit cx2.not sure if it would be worth getting the cx3 over that model.

got to head out right now but i will pop back later to see what else to watch out for.

Inverness,John.theres a local guy but i dont know where about the place is.also worried about not getting a good choice from a smaller place and getting sold something poor.also worried about him vanishing overnight.with that heliguy they seem to be right into it and keen on repairing for a reasonable cost if things went tits up. Nice to know that they will probably be there for a while, you know? i wouldnt be too bothered with most goods but when it comes to something like this, made of stuff that is prone to breaking as soon as you look at it,i get a bit worried!

If its everything on 26 inch wheels then its danny macaskill. not chris akrigg. danny is as fast down the megavalanche with similar times but then blows every trials rider out the water in trials.cross country he could hammer a lot of strictly lycra clad folk.. and road riding? he would ride 7 miles home from work on 23cs in 10 inches of snow! He can even see in the dark and rides night rides without lights lol.

you could organise this whole competition for real and it would prove the point ;O)

Most come with threadlock so stick with that.If you check over the bike often and are happy to not use threadlock then do so.from a workshop side of things – you cant expect everyone to always keep on top of their bike so its threadloc all the way.
if the fixing holes are bored straight through, be careful to not put on too much/forget to wipe off excess from the other side. It can drip down into the braking surface.

aye, monkey. ive still got my FUCT T shirt. just cant throw it out! its getting a bit shredded after 18 years though.

"EPIC" is the main record label logo printed on the original copy. is it still the same or is it SONY? It took me til the 6th march 1993 to buy the album after it first came out in Nov 92.(just found the receipt inside the case – how sad is that)

Just found "bullet in the head" cd single too.Theres not one scratch on it. wonder if its worth anything.

buy a pair of maverick adaptors to fit a park stand (if you have a park stand) they have wee tabs to hook in and a few allen bolts to hold them in place.
