I did this a few years ago and got the spirit level out. rolled back and forth in the garden a few times to straighten it all up as well as possible and checked the diffrence of camber by placing the level vertically from the edge of the wheel rim at the lowest point and had it resting on the arch at the top. i then measured the distance from the rim to the straight edge. did it both side and found it to be miles out. I jacked it upo, removed wheel and adjusted a few times until i got them both looking spot on. once the wheel was off it was visable where the strut position used to be so i moved it back to where it had been for the previous …7 years or so of its life and it drove straight with a nicely centred steering wheel.

ok it took 3 attempts of fine tweaking to get the steering wheel spot on but it cost nothing and took about 30 mins.

how hard do you have to hit a kerb to bend…. a strut?!

oh i was offered a gpz 600r last week (not rothmans colours!) it was very untidy apparently. i declined.

first car was my dads 1983 fiesta in terracotta brown/orange. It had a rubber grommet in the floorwell to squeeze with yer foot to squirt the windows.

    first bike was a 2006 cbr 125r.

altura attack x with a light merino base layer.

sick of how cold tights feel. even winter ones dont keep you feeling warm and comfortable at the same time. The key is a bit of air in about yer clothing. air air air!

I dont think i`ll ever put winter tights on again. they feel absolutely horrible.even the most thermal ones feel cold when its sub zero, wet, with a bit of wind chill.

Its -6c right now, blue sky and fresh snow. alturas will do just fine.

ive got trucks, axles, frames.would love to walk up Cairngorm with it.

anyone else fancy making one with the thought of going for a group walk up the gorm some day? that would be a right laugh. Ive got old boards but i need to know if a snowboard would make a better base than a narrow ski. has anyone found out which works best yet?

Ive been more than happy with my samsung NC10. They go cheap now.I know a rep that is onto his 2nd one (first one stolen) and he loves it. It does the job with no niggles that i can see,has a great battery life, gets good reviews and doesnt have windows 7 for those that might hate windows 7.

I havent switched on the pc since i got it.

The 2nd hand one i ran a few years ago is a tubeless ready 2.0 with AR Casing. My new ones have it too and they have all fitted fine on 819s.

They can be inflated from new on a clean flat&dent-free 819 rim without fluid.Did it last week.

be realistic with yer fitness. dont go out buying a big ring thinking it will be a nice happy medium for winter riding if you have no fitness (like i just done!)

I put a 36t with 11-32t 9 spd but wished i bought a 32.Im just not fit enough to go out in the snow in the 32t and manage to climb all the stuff i normally do with 27 gears.

Jeremy, was she turning right into another road across the path of the cyclist? This is what it sounded like in the story.whether she was stationary for a moment before the crossing or moving very slowly,i cant see her being anything more than 10mph.

I have had a car creep up to a junction (cross roads, so not quite the same) and the driver didnt quite stop at the junction, then continued across my path when i was time trialling. I couldnt stop and he must have been going no more than 10mph. I hit the side of him and to cut a long story short, couldnt remember how to get home when one of the other time triallers fathers gave me a lift home. I felt bad for days with a compressed helmet/loss of memory.

anyways, he crossed the road, very slowly.I might have been 25-30mph at this point as it was slightly downhill and the driver blamed the sun in his eyes. The police came to my house a day or so later and said that he had been to the scene of the accident to see the position of the sun at that exact time and reported it to be nowhere near where the driver said it was. The driver was charged.

Mogrim wrote:(sorry i cant add quotes!)

“In this case to my mind TJ’s friend is clearly at fault: if you can’t see where you’re going due to glare you should be driving at 10mph, and I find it hard to believe that driving at that speed would cause sufficient injury to lead (albeit indirectly) to death”

The arguement could be that the cyclist had no chance or made no attempt to slow down before impact. This is probably very likely.

Having been in this situation i managed to see that the driver wasnt stopping and i got to the brakes. All i managed was a skid that hardly slowed me down then i hit the side of the car.TJs story makes me feel very lucky.

I find the compound of winter tyres to be good. Its not just the tread depth or pattern that does all the work. My worn down ones still performed with next to nothing left on them and it looks like Househusbands video clip above proves this as they are testing on an ice rink.It doesnt get much slippery than that!

Some of you might know the climb out of Inverness when yuo head south. Last year i went out for a spin in the car and cars were stuck 2/3rds of the way up it. I cruised past and darent stop.I shouldnt really admit to this but i did something naughty… i drove back into town and back up the hill again and passed them for the second time.smugtastic!

Its thick snow at work/outside the house and its not shifting for a while. -6c at work when i left and its going to drop to -20c in some places over the next few days.

why would i put a tyre thats the equivalent of a racin fookin ralph on my car in snow when i can have these on it?!

    http://photos-by-martin.digimig.co.uk/c1919513.html

oh yes. they work, and its not just the tread pattern.I can get on quite well at very slow speed on summer tyres but this is a diffrent league when it comes to stopping and accelerating.

defenders are all very well.. but useless if the diesel freezes up like what was happening to them in aviemore last year.If they dont start then whats the point lol.

my snowtrack3 vredesteins are amazing. i was getting drifts around a roundabout in the middle of nowhere last night about 11.30pm.the front end just pulls you back to where you wanrt to go. I wasnt going daft, just trying to suss out what all was happening when it went sideways.something i have never really played about with.I recon i learnt a bit more than if i stayed at home sat on my arse.

I dont listen to Donna summer and i dont own a copy of the song but i chose “I feel love” because theres nothing else i can think of that sounds so fresh for the age that it is.Theres been lots of stuff that i could listen to again and again but its not going to fit in easily with todays music as much as i feel donnas song would.

Does anyone else have a song as fresh sounding and as old as that?

risky. the gusts over sunday would be,at a guess, 50mph+. Monday calms down a bit but could easily be as bad. the temps at 900ft on sunday will be around -6c. colder on sunday eve into monday morning.

On monday you could be looking at -9c at the ptarmigan with a 30mph wind if yer lucky.

Sometimes it pays off to just head out there and it can often be totally diffrent to what they predicted. The people that can afford to do this might squeeze in half a week of perfect conditions throughout a season… if you fluke it for monday, you will be very lucky!

I would put the money towards a mid to heavyweight down jacket right now. Its so cold out there and it wont be getting any warmer for months.
