I found mine comfy on the bike it came fitted on for the first half hour but noticed that after a few hours i was struggling with it.I have since moved it around half a dozen times but compared to the sdg fx ibeam on the hardtail, its not as comfy.I look forward to sitting on the hardtail with the ibeam saddle on certain days/depending on where i plan on riding.

Just cant wait for the ibeam fitting on the top of a rockshox reverb or the bright spark that comes out with a fitment to slap an ibeam onto the railed reverb undercarriage..

Atherton is obviously hammering it in this but at full throttle its still unnatural to the eye.

It doesnt do anything for me.what i mean is.. the lens on these cameras doesnt give me any idea of the speed hes going. The speed he appears to be crossing the line for instance. One second its hyper speed, the next hes at a complete stop.

Its the same with all these go pro type vids.poor riders pootling along in the saddle on their local trails can make themselves look rapid with them.Sometimes when a rider is just pulling up to a stop, the image appears to be blurring as if its still filming at around 15-25?!mph.

I ran a 125 vanilla on my pace rc200 for months.Bit odd at first but it was only myself that was riding it and never thought that i could be at risk. Besides.. a good functioning fork thats around 40mm too long probably stresses the headtube less than a thrashed short travel fork that barely moves!

I got a few pics looking over Inverness with a bright arc spanning the sky. Some of the later pics have clouds coming into the shots.Nothing spectacular but i`ll try and post them up tomorrow.

When i worked in Aviemore i remember one week driving home at night.. you could see it from the car driving on the A9 with car lights in front of you.I think over one week it was visable for about 5 days solid.

Might go out late tomorrow night too if its clear as i`d like to get some more pattern to it.These pics are glowing arcs, nowt special but worth posting.

Thanks Rootes. Its actually a Moulton! I don`t have the bike here and i forgot what it was.The wheels are definitely 20″ 406 so that looks like a good width.Great find, thanks for looking for me! I couldnt find much at work and at one point pages werent loading at all.

The next step is spoke length for alfine.I`ll cross that bridge when i come to it.

    Thanks again

Its 20″ wheels on the bike already. Not quite a brompton but similar so the useage is the same level. They dont have to be super strong. The original rims arent anything special as it is.

Frame parts are now damaged due to bearing/bush replacement not being carried out when it should have.

The fork is the same story.

Over the 20+ rides you have had it,have you never noticed a bit of play in the pivots developing? Going by the state of those,i would guess that they may have started to “go” when you bought the bike.

The uppers show that they might have had bike cleaner around them and left stationary for that to happen.Either that or its been winter road use then left to dry out.demo bikes usually get a hard time when it comes to cleaning as they get washed far too quickly.. and to wash a bike quickly means turning the power of the hose or jetwash up a lot more than you would dream of doing to your own bike! Its usually someone that doesnt own the bike (possibly another shop thats blasted it to death to get it looking “clean” as quickly as possible)

They dont care,as long as its clean.

“would it be easy to check the frame before the shipping of an defected frame?” It would be nice if everyone at the end of each production line was told (and given the time) to do this but theres only a handful of people that want and expect it perfect (remember Merlins skip of Ti frames gone wrong?) These folk will either check the quality themselves or be happy enough to pay a wage for someone to do the job properly. This, unfortunately, usually happens with very high end frame builds only. Its a shame but this is how it is these days.Cars,motorbikes,mtbs.. its all heading the same direction.

Its a shame that one company with a few problems have this thread getting longer by the minute.Did it have to be put out for thousands to see in public?

Considering the number of brands out there, and the number of problems each of them have (that we arent talking about in public) i think its a bit of a downer for one of the guys in mountain biking that probably takes more of an interest than any other bigwig from any of the other companies out there to get mingling with his customers on the web when he has a bit of free time only to get flamed.Theres dozens of them that arent even into biking anything like Brant and to be honest, if it were me.. i`d ask to have this thread pulled.

yeah an 8″ strip cut off and folded in half is good.On wed i used the helmet without one for the first time in years. It was just too hot.

If i dont use a buff i get helmet marks over my head that take around 2 hours to vanish.Pain in the ass.

Why is it that nearly every thread takes a turn for the worst in a zillion different directions other than the one direction we would all like them to head?!

rossi – Id be more impressed if he had the bike leant over a decent amount.

Just what i was thinking.what a waste of time!

Ive just done a loop from Inverness to Carrbridge,Dava moor,Nairn and back home.Amazing night for it.No power rangers, only deer.Only 3 bikers in town when i got back home and that was it.

My marta on the rear of the hardtail can squeal if the hub (crossmax st) backs off a bit. There was a slight amount of play so i adjusted it by hand the first time it happened and cured it.It had nothing to do with the brake at all.. although the brake was the part making the noise! If that makes sense.

    martinxyz

If you had one syringe + connection you could flush it through from bottom to top with the brake removed and get a firm brake without degassing the fluid.Just dont go shaking the bottle before filling the syringe. It wouldnt cost £15.

A brake can also feel spongy if the calliper is off-square.Even with a good bleed.

    Find a big hammer.

return to the computer and smash it.

If you look at fuel pumps from the past 10 years or so.. they wont let a lot of crap in there at all.Its a bit of a myth that bits of this and that will be dragged through the system.Ive ran out more than a few times in one of my cars and the fuel pump after 100k hardly had a mark on it.

That Scott at the top of the thread.argh.The dog taking a dump style frame was one.. but this is the dog taking an ass scrape along the ground to cure its itchy ring style of frame. It reminds me of some kids 24″ wheeled full suss bike with a failed shock that i once spotted.

Some nice parts on it but i couldnt walk into the shed and look at that and think “cant wait to go out on this today”.You would have had to be dropped at birth to think thats appealing!
