They usually have to go back to Hotlines for warranty. They wont sell the tool. You send the wheel down with proof of purchase for inspection and they will make the decision.

i wouldn’t say I’m depressed but I find cycling helps a lot mentally. It gives me time to think and re-evaluate things and maybe get a different perspective. That said when you get to the half way point you know you are heading back to the same situations, oh to keep on cycling!

user-removed: “I did three miles on the dual carriageway at 50 mph during my test – sat behind a lorry.

The tester asked me afterwards why I hadn’t speeded up to 60 and I told him the truth – had a bit of a ‘moment’ and forgot the legal speed limit, so played it safe!

    I passed….”

Lucky you.I sat behind a lorry instead of passing it and i failed.for going 50ish in a 70 instead of getting past it and keeping a decent speed.I think it was because i knew we were turning off at the next junction and i didnt fancy putting the brakes on in front of the lorry.
(pretty sure this happened half way up drumossie heading south of Inverness, about to pull off the slip road at the top)

You answered the question before i managed to log in! Yes,shimano hubs can cause this.More so when you have a brake with hardly any pad clearance like some of the hayes and formulas.A 200mm rotor with a shimano standard q/r front hub can be adjusted from new on a work stand so that you can see daylight either side of the disc but once ridden, you often find the disc scuffing under cornering. The rear can be the same.Ive noticed the rears scuffing riding along in a straight line on new bikes. The same prob as the front – clearance looking spot on when on the workstand, cones obviously not loose, yet they scuff when in use.

Like you said, put a hub on with a bigger axle thats stiffer in many ways and its sorted.180/200 rotors on deore hubs was a common one.also 475s.

Run shimano brakes with these wheels and you`ll find no problem at all.Heaps of pad clearance! Its just when you mix two components that werent that great in the first place that issues arise.

If i am driving up a slip road about to pull out onto a dc or motorway i indicate and check the mirror to see if its safe to filter out.During my motorcycling lessons i made a mistake of riding down the slip road and accelerating out in front of a lorry. Its the kind of thing that didnt cause the lorry to brake,i was (what seemed) quite a distance away, but the instructor freaked as he saw the risk i put myself in.The habit i have had for the past 15 odd years was to boot it and try to filter out safely.. and expect drivers to either pull out into the other lane or slow down/speed up to help me out.

If i was in their position,i would also do this for them.. but the fact is,if the traffic is heavy and theres no room to pull out,you may need to come to a complete stop.None of this slowing right down and thinking you are in the right by pulling out regardless. It was only after my bike test that i found this out.Only for the bike test i wouldnt have ever felt that i must treat a slip road as a junction and if need be, i must come to a complete stop.I was there and made these mistakes. You expect folk to help each other out but the fact is,if you are driving along and approach a slip road to your left, you do not have to slow down, speed up or move lanes. You may feel a bit of a dick for not making any effort to help the drivers filtering in but if it means a) having to slow down, putting yourself at risk from dozy drivers behind you. or b) pulling out into the faster lane because of someone elses lack of road knowledge and/or courtesy.. then you are just adding to a problem.

If the road is very quiet i still do pull out into the other lane to help drivers but not if its going to upset other drivers speeds and positions.I learnt my mistake on the bike training by an instructor that is no longer with us.This was the biggest bad habit i carried on since 1993 and only for him, i would still be doing it.

I now treat a slip road as a junction.Might sound daft but thats effectively what they are.Dont feel in the right when filtering out of them, you arent.

Flow hasnt said anything retarded there. He was thinking exactly what i was thinking and i found that he replied to it before i got a chance to.

re: a seatpost far too far out of a frame for its own good, followed by a comment about having a smaller frame as its more chuckable.

If he was thinking along the same lines as myself.. he was probably picturing these types of people “chucking” their bikes about so much easier than a larger frame.. but at the same time wondering how on earth a bike can end up more chuckable with a seatpost nearly as far out as every seat post on bmx bikes of the early 80s.Its mind boggling.I`m sure flow would agree!

you shouldnt have to use much force at all.You might have forced it too much and burst it.These brakes can get fairly messy inside. The contamination of the fluid after a few years is wild.More so in these than in any other brake ive seen.Well worth flushing them out at least every 8-10 months-ish.

The riders and their abilities in the video posted above have not convinced me on how good the bigger wheel descends.Using those mere mortals to make a butchers bike appear spiffingly good on screen does not do it for me.

You have had the bike for approx a year out of its warranty period and you have been offered a deal that is less than the trade price that any U.K dealer can buy them in for.

They didnt have to offer anything but you have a good will gesture wafting in front of you.

If you want to take them up on this offer while it still stands* i suggest you make the move tomorrow morning.

*because if they see that you took it to a forum, they might withdraw it ;O)

I wonder how many of the people rioting are followers.”My brother is going out to take part in it so i`m going along too”.

I wonder how many are doing it for the money.. with no views on anything that might be talked about in the news that may be to blame.

The talk of a few hundred people doing it makes me wonder how many are in it for a reason.

I personally just picture the majority of folk joining in for the craik.
Am i going off on one and getting it all wrong here?
