If you are going down the PAYG route – GiffGaff offer unlimited data plans from £10. If you buy a smartphone and like it – you will likely find yourself using the internet more.

Just ordered my sim the other day. It seems the best deal out there and if you search about (other than the giffgaff sites that appear nearer the top of the search page) you can find other folk talking about them. GG use 02,free texts and calls to other giffgaff. 250 uk mins, unlimited texts and internet. Just top up £10 each month with their ‘goodybag’ or if you need more minutes, choose another goodybag. 400 mins with the £15 goodybag.

    seat ibiza 1.9tdi 221,000 miles.

Edit! Just had a look in the service book and the toothed belt change was last carried out at 132,539 miles.

Just drive them smooth! Half the belt/tensioner failures are probably down to stripping down and someone messing something up while they’re in there lol.The car is worth pennies so I really don’t want to spend £300 on this job that cost me around £250 when it was last done. Oil change No 22 coming right up. I’m a bit late with it but that’s because of the MOT. Didn’t want to spend £40 on oil when it could have easily been scrapped. It looks bad not getting the belt done but I have stuck with the oil changes along with filters. Drained for hours (some overnight – not that it’s this that’s made it run for so long but it costs nowt to do and it helps)

Sanny,I’ve just got back from Innerleithen with the spearfish and it climbed up the black really well. I took it up to the top of matador and went off piste a bit and found some stuff I never knew of. Finished up down bits of black and red but punctured near the bottom after caddonbank. It is something you need to try out. I think you would love the short travel rear end on it and its climbing prowness ;O)

I lightly sprinkle water to rinse the bike down no higher than the split in the seat tube and no higher than half way up the headtube. soaping down shifters, bar tape and letting the soap/chemicals pour down the back of the stem and into the headset.. then down through the frame into the bb shell is just over doing it.

The air is a joke too. Its so easy to dislodge grease to where its useless. Who taught the guy to do that?! I got my dads spray painting air line when I was about 11 and dried the bmx off. Aimed it at the rear hub and the grease flew out all over the stays!

That was 28 years ago.. not 28 days ago!

I’m fully comp, the car was getting it’s MOT last week and I called up Adrian Flux to ask if I’m covered 3rd party on vehicles that other owners have given me to go ahead to drive. They said yes.

Due to lack of workshop I cut down my hoses and swapped them over in the shed the other day. The fluid left in the cuttings was dripped into the levers (where the hose was removed) and both hoses were connected back up. I expected to have to do a bit more but they are rock solid and unless I experience any problems I probably won’t be bleeding them properly just for the sake of bleeding.

Usual hassle free shimano hose trimming and calliper alignment in 10 mins. Pad clearance and quality rotors on shimano disc brakes are the best in the biz.

*rotors that run true without the need to go tweaking them. If only everyone else got it right like shimano.

My ibiza is the 90bhp version. Before this week’s MOT I did a fill to fill calculation and it worked out roughly 55mpg. That’s with a brisk drive to work followed by easy driving on the way home.20 or so miles each way with a mix of dual carriageways (10 miles of it) and a bit of everything else for the remainder.

It should do better now its been lightened up ;O) It’s just had the abs system removed. <fingers crossed for good weather and safe driving>

It’s also about weight distribution between wheels, the smaller person is able to move their centre of gravity less distance than a taller rider. I believe this is why those people who find 29ers “impossible to wheelie” or “cumbersome in tight stuff” tend to be shorter. Whereas for taller people they just feel natural.

The first person to ride that ^ spearfish as soon as it left the shop door was a scottish dh champion.. he is the same height as myself and the first thing he done after a few figure of 8’s was wheelie it about 60ft up the road. As soon as I got on it I popped a wheelie myself. It must be the riser bar. It just asks to be wheelied!

He actually said he really liked it and ‘quite fancied getting one himself’

This size of spearfish under someone around 5’6″ – 5’8″ feels like a cruiser bmx with bigger wheels out front and back.. but with the right cockpit length,no toe/tyre problems either. Salsa have nailed it.

Over the moon with it lol. Yes,it’s nice. Amazing descender. Still prefer climbing with 26″ wheels though.. funnily enough. :O)

The mid rise bar is all I had kicking about so I’ve left the cables and hose too long ready for a wide bar to go on. The front end is quite high but I still managed some steep climbs that usually have me off walking so to be able to do it with those risers bars.. I’m impressed.

I stopped at the top of a climb on it’s first ride and attempted to flip the risers upside down.. It looked hideous! I then started panicking at the thought of another rider appearing and spotting the stupidity.I was now rushing to get it back to normal. I took a pic of it on the phone as it was quite funny. Even if it did feel better there was no way I was about to continue the ride on a clown bike that had just been transformed into the king of all clown bikes. Sore sides on steep climbs don’t go down too well.

    …just ordered it from Tweeks,no I’m kidding!

come to think of it.. people phone the shop and tell us they have seen it for this price. We click open the website they are talking of and find that its in purple and xxs. We point this out to them and they either buy the item or hang up sheepishly!

‘hanging up sheepishly’ Hmm,don’t ask where that one came from.

I tried riding an old board I have had since 95-ish and I got on fine with it when I was 11 stone.

Plonk 13.5 stone on it.. it didn’t move!

yeah, well the part I am thinking about is over in the classifieds right now. A £300 reverb thats new.. but the guy has dropped the price by 60 quid. Someone comes along and says you can buy it new from a shop for the same price. So he drops it to £220. He may have paid full RRP for it and because of the guy searching for the same item, for no benefit of his own,the seller has to lose out more money.

I personally,in this example, would keep out of it.

I don’t use any other forums, never knew they banned this behaviour.

Too Tall – the benefits of bigger wheels is in the way they roll over obstacles and by providing greater traction. This applies to riders of all sizes

I think my bosses wife asked me something similar the other day about my height (5` 8″) and the 29er I was about to put together. It seems that just recently theres a bit of a question mark over the starting height that folk would be best suited to get the leg over a 29er. I can’t remember this years ago.. it just seems to be.. today! (I have just built up this spearfish and someone mentioned if I was a little short to get the benefit from a 29er)

If they are better for people 6` tall and over but also not so great for someone 3 inches shorter.. when squatting over a bike with arms and legs flexed, what difference is 3-5 inches in overall height really going to make?!

Its like the snowboard sizing thing of years gone by. Like saying that a 6 ft tall boarder should be on a certain size of board but its not going to be useable for another rider at 5`4″… when they both weight the same.

What was the thing about the board meeting with yer chin or nose as an indication of sizing? lol

On those hubs its usually the plastic seal not seated correctly. Make sure its clipped into the freehub body and them work the body fully home whilst getting the seal clipped in and under the driveside flange. great fun first time round! It might only be slightly dislodged as they are pretty much unrideable if they are well out of place.

Built flows on pro 2 evo’s on friday and used comps. I have used rev’s on my road wheels in the past but happy with what I used on these flow’s.Never even considered using rev’s on flow’s or crest’s.

I’m the opposite. I watch the clip and think that there’s heaps of stuff within 200 miles that,on the right day,can have amazing scenery and changes in weather on par with anything I have seen on tinternet. So it leaves me asking myself half way through the clip ‘where WOULD I like to ride?”

…and with the bagpipes in the background I find I have no answer.

    Happy where I am.

Look if you don’t like the fact that other people choose to ride larger wheels there’s no need to choke up the forum with yet another 29/26 thread. Leave room for more interesting topics.

    Don’t be so flippin shellfish.

No need to head 30,40,50 mile from Inverness for good riding unless you deffo want to hit the man made stuff.

If you hold it upright it wont flow out ;O) I get nasa to take mine into orbit to get the right mix.

I have had similar problems with the last bottle I bought.Followed the instructions etc but it makes no difference. A ball of latex was rolling around in the tyre the size of a ping pong ball and every day I passed the bike I noticed the tyres and rim soaked. Might try something else next time as this is as much good as cottage cheese.

gobi xm is a saddle that I can ride but I seem to take a week to get back into it. Its now got to the point where I look forward to using the bike with the dropper post but at the same time I dread coming off the sdg fx I beam to go back to thed gobi.

I liked bel airs when I had them but the narrowness, shape, flex and slippiness?! of the fx is spot on. I would have never guessed 13.5 stone would have got on fine with anything less padded than the bel air but this saddle proves shape (and possibly flex) is a big factor.

That makes no sense to me,mucky. I drive something that is like a golf, built like a golf, has so many parts the same as a golf and its lasted 3 times longer than the golfs on the road today!
