The hardest bit is turning up at the skatepark with baggy jeans on, kids start arriving with skinny jeans and you now look a joke! I suppose it’s similar to going back in time 20 years, some old guy turns up on a skateboard wearing skinny jeans and a bald head. You’re going to chuckle, aren’t you ;O)

Did anyone watch that Storage Hunters prog a few weeks ago where the container had a box in it but none of the bidders knew which container had the ‘big surprise’ in it? One couple went for it and drove off in a red Tesla.

Still got a 99 90bhp tdi with 253k on it. Stuff broke, then the essentials kept on working over the years showing no signs of failing. For 1k, I’d consider it. If it’s for getting about on short journeys I’m sure the engine will be sufficient. I’d guess that it would be a bit laboured after 60mph on longer drives.. raising the fuel consumption. My one still gives me around 60mpg.

It’s the same with most things. Like if you go out and buy a few of the first trick scooters. They’ll be worth a fortune in 30 years. Well, maybe not :O)

I’ve got 11-42. 32t up front. By the time I get into the 42, I’m better off walking!

A few weeks ago I bought a pair of Thunders, bearings and a set of Fast Skateboard Co wheels in 52mm. The griptape on my old deck came off in seconds (17 years, glue dried out) so I had my first roll for the first time in.. 17 years. The biggest problem seems to be my back foot firmly planted on the tail. I’m thinking this is from moving onto snowboards. The exact opposite seemed to be a weird feeling going from skate to snow with the back foot. I felt sketchy at first but soon felt confident pushing about. I expected to do better, the balance and coordination has vanished.

Also just bought a few StreetPlant Vallely decks, numbered and auto’d but chose not to skate the Mammoth after saying that I would!

Which bikes did Steve Potts design ? I have not heard of him before

Potts Modification. A big progression for BMX in the early days. The name Potts will be known to old bmx freestylers, probably more so than any mtber will remember the name. This could be lies.. I would need Mr Repack to clarify if it’s the same steve ;)

the small bump vibration elimination is better than any fork I’ve ever ridden.

I’m a bit lost. With this size of tyre, isn’t it doing that job regardless of fork?

So how much of a problem is the shoulder and arm? The first thing I thought about was lifting it up if you dropped it but yeah, it’s a what if scenario. I can only imagine how locked out you’ll be feeling on one side, kind of like completely overdressed in the winter. I would probably feel better on a street triple over the others. It’s something like 165kg and the diavel must be 200+. I rode a 2014 street triple last month and counter steering seems to just happen compared to my zx9. I never feel like I counter steer on my own bike. Would this be a problem with the street/speed layout? I’m not sure if they all need the same amount of input. One things for sure, the front wheel on a street triple is surely a lively enough combo for a locked out shoulder!

Jenny’s doing braw. It’s a pity she never left the tyre on the front that she had last week. Could have paddled across the river laid across the bike like a surfboard!

Nightmare, he was doing so well. Are those forged linkages on that bike of his or carbon? Lair descent with a load on any bike is a bit brutal.

On my 1×10 setup it works fine. No grinding or odd noises. I’m also convinced it shifts better too.

Just before entering Contin, if they hang a right up a farm track which is a shortcut to Strathpeffer, in less than a mile you’re at a shop called Deli in the Square with heaps of nice food. Also a shop next door to it.. or a barber. If you’re planning on taking your time on route ;o)

Can you not just rig up some kind of l.e.d. sign in the back window that you can have pre-set messages that pop up just by hitting the number to suit.

‘Three choices – continue tailgating, keep a safer distance,or overtake me. One of them is a really good option’

Aldi and Lidl stuff can be pretty bad. I have a few tops for biking and some from the motorcycling range that they put out a few years ago and the cut is hellish. The stitching and the placement of panels is poor too. Some items feel like you’ve possibly put them on back to front.

I don’t see Rapha as expensive and wonder why some folk moan about the price like it’s Savile freekin Row.

My steering was a bit odd on one car, just had the power steering topped up but I had to get a new belt on the alternator.. while they were doing it they went ahead and replaced a dangerous spring sitting at an odd angle. It had a piece broken off at one end that I never knew about. Once a full length spring was fitted, it’s now driving in a straight line. I just put it down to the tracking being out.

Makecoldplay.. it seems so. On my own bike that I have the leaking slx on, I have clarted it with a bit of mud and it’s had pretty good power each ride although not full on power that it should have. It’s a mi ncing fire track/easy trails bike and it’s never bothered me. The last time I dragged it out of the cold shed, the lever travel and bite point was way down and yet again, the brake was howling. I think it’s really died this time. I think it was fine for the first few years and then this came on gradually (maybe 4 years old now) over the winters. The dust sticking to the caliper like someone mentioned above is a common sight on many calipers. Heaps of cheaper ones on brand new bikes, my first gen slx, both my bosses xtr calipers and a few xt’s.

edit: Yet still my fav brake brand!

Old slx do it. Heaps of brand new (and old) lower end calipers do it too. If the brake is left for a while it can often spit the dummy and appear to have a bit more dust on it than usual. It’s often noticeable as a mist over the caliper and not usually a wet look to it. Shimano have mentioned that the seals on some calipers can go a bit firm in colder temperatures.. letting the fluid seep. Funnily enough, late this afternoon I’ve just had a new xt (around 4 months old) dropped off that’s doing this.

Edit: and a pair of 6 week old 446’s do it at each end of another bike yesterday afternoon. As great as their brakes are, they need to get these seeping issues sorted as it’s been an ongoing problem for quite some time now and it’s something no amount of ‘sealant’ seems to be fixing between the caliper halves. Come on,Shimano. It’s a shame as they are still great brakes throughout the range and I still use them as the hassle free side of every other aspect of their brakes outweighs all the chit you can get from brakes from other brands.

Yeah, been talking about how slow I find them from very slow speeds for years. Hence finally giving it one last go with light wheels along with light non-tubeless tyres, only to find that I like the acceleration from very slow speeds on silly climbs far more on my 26″ wheels. I’ve mentioned before about putting short bursts in from near standing starts to get up over some bigger rocky stuff on climbs and for the time being, I’ll stick with smaller wheels.

Aye, there’s no doubt about it. If you fit a fork slightly too short it can make the bike feel sluggish. My own bike is a bit of a mix match at the moment and the Pike dual position in 130 mode rode crap over (and up) just about everything compared to what it can do in 160 mode. The weird thing is, I’ve fitted offset bushes (M6 difference front and rear) and the fork is now more usable over so much terrain now in 130 mode.

To the OP, I’ve had no problems with mine. The reason I bought dual position was to make them more swappable between bikes but like some folk have said, it won’t make a huge difference to certain gradients when climbing. The bike will feel far faster at full travel on many of the easier climbs you encounter. Sounds odd, but it’s how forks do their thing on bikes when they’re dropped too short beyond what the frame was designed for. I thought I was imagining things on my 2005 Marz all Mountain 2’s but it’s happened on every fork since.

Had a bit of a prob to begin with but that’s because I’m crap with tech. It seems to be working fine but I still don’t know a thing (and can’t be assed) about widgets and the other 95% of what the phone could well be capable of. Battery power seems pretty good. It might be really good on battery power but I rarely use it for calling or texting so who knows. The camera seems crap in daylight and it’s hard to see what you’re taking a pic of or filming. If you film with the light on, it seems really good.. same with taking pics in darker conditions. Volume on the phone is a bit poor compared to my 3GS,It’s not very loud at max. The speed of it compared to my dodgy old 3GS is unreal. I don’t do much with it but whatever I’m doing, it seems lightning fast from one thing to another. Would I buy another? probably not. My next phone would be just that, something that works really well just as a phone with good battery power. Can you tell I’m over 40? :O)

The feeling of feet removed at the ankles.. followed by an all over itch to the feet that aren’t there. Haven’t felt that in years. Thanks to Shimano Goretex boots.
