    Tiagra 2×10 on the Defy

Looking at 2011 model so only Sora 2×9 on it.

Both bikes on paper look the pretty much the same to me barring a difference in ratios, just the frames different.

I’m about 5’8″ so I think the 53cm Maven or Medium Giant, already spoken to the shop about giant and they say medium defy is about 50cm, but I’m assuming that would be because of the compact frame maybe?

Groupset is sora on both I think, is that that the equivalent of Deore? Employer doesn’t do CTW, that would be classed as a benefit, employer doesn’t do employee benefits :)

The main type of riding I do is xc, no racing, nothing mental, wheels stay on the ground at all times (only time they leave the ground is when I load the bike into the car), I weigh about 75kgish (11.5ish stone), which rims should I be looking at, I was looking at either Stans Flow or Mavic en521 these should be fine shouldn’t they?

    lighter? stronger?

Why are the Stans rims so expensive? are they better than Mavic?

has the Werewolf drop been made easier? think I saw something a while ago that it had been changed, as it was getting a bit hollowed out at the bottom.

Remember to take body armour, a 3 litre camelback with enough spares to build another bike. With all that you should just about be OK.

    What about the helmet cam?

the braking bumps were a pain last time I was there as well.

are they just caused by people carrying too much speed into the corners then locking up the back wheel?

I got one of these these last year from merlin. Been ok for me, only do basic stuff with it though, seems stable enough.

Quick update. I did get my hand down the drain, as everyone suggested, thanks for that one :) Only got out the stuff at the bottom of the drain as the angle at the bottom meant that you couldn’t really get your hand down there. Used some big massive drain coil or what ever you call it and couldn’t clear it, so had to call someone out.

Managed to get it done this morning for £75 all in. Took him about 2 hours to clear it, unhelpful neighbours contributed to this time by refusing the guy access to their back gardens or not being in. We have a shared manhole cover about 5 houses down but the guy couldn’t determine the direction of the water as he couldn’t get access. (so at least the previous owners hadn’t covered ours up).

He said that he was 100% sure that the blockage wasn’t ours as it took him 25 metres of hose to clear it. Joy. so I’ve just paid to clear someone else’s crap.

    You’re going to Maxime’s?

Always. You can never have too many “back to the old school” nights :)

Think it changed names now though, plus I think it has a “gentleman’s” club attached to it now as well. Pure class. God bless Wigan.

We’ve already tried Soda crystals, that didn’t work. I assumed that they would just dissolve.

have you asked neighbours whether they are having problems?

Not had chance yet, took a look over their fence and they don’t have any ponds on their patio like we do at the moment :)

Never seen a drain cover in the back garden, we’ve been in the property for about 5 years now and never come across one. Hope the previous owner didn’t cover it.

I’ve just assumed that the blockage was in our drain as is was spilling out under the kitchen window, don’t think the neighbours are having any issues, if was a blockage in the common drain they would be all backed up as well wouldn’t they?

What sort of weight is the 205/305? The size makes it look heavy, is it noticeable?

    martinm116

Looked at 110 only difference between that and the 210 is training zones I think, not much price difference though between 2 so thought I would just go for the 210, geoffj has thrown a fly in the ointment though with the 305 for £99 :-)

they look massive though the 205 and 305.

although less than £100 is tempting.

I’ve always used endura singletrack shorts, love em, though they aren’t lightweight.

This years model is £71 so might just save the cash and invest in more shiny bits if there isn’t much difference.

Those Hadley hubs are expensive, are they worth it? never heard of them.

And the most important question of all do they make a really loud clicking noise when free wheeling? ha :)

Are the British cycling team relocating to London now then? If so what does the future hold for Manchester?
