I’ve had mine around 2 years now (Mk2 650B, pre-Longshot) which has had plenty of use – although I am  a bit of a mincer to be fair (before anyone else says it!) and so far, no issues at all with the bearings. A pal has a Rocket Max and he has just done bearing swap – said it was an easy job, and required no special tools.

I have a Garmin 25 which always seem to under-read for elevation gain, compared to the other people I ride with who use 810’s or similar, by around 5-15%, pretty good for everything else, so will keep until funds allow something else.

Yep, my LBS does them too (Cheshire Cycles, in Warrington if you’re in NW?)

Yep, did the same and it was fun – but fully rigid singlespeed got a bit wearing after a bit, so put gears and 29″ wheels with CX tyres in it for a cheap “gravel” bike – tyre clearance is tight as f*** with a 26″ frame though! For anyone wondering about the effects on geo etc, I’m too clueless to notice so its’ all good ;-)

Best ebay listing mention I’ve seen in ages… cheered me right up!

Not about the boots as such, but investing £25 or so in an electric boot/shoe dryer rack was the best investment I ever made! Nice dry shoes, and not force dried either which has got to be good for the long term :-)

Yep, I’ve had to adjust my racks to fit my LS Solaris Max, but they do go on – not a lot of slack though! I’ve got 591’s too, and they can be adjusted – don’t know if the OP has a different rack?

I’m also running non-boost cranks in a LS Solaris Max, with a 34T and no probs, so as suggested, try wat you’ve got first and see how you get on.

About 5 months for a Canyon, but to be fair, that was the lead time they quoted when ordering as it was a new model and I was prepared to wait – 6 years ago and I’ve only just retired it, so I got my moneys’ worth :-)

Yeah, I regularly have to strip mine down and re-lube everything to keep it working – worst Shimano mech I’ve ever had. Strangely, the SLX M7000 one I have on another bike has been faultless so far!

I bought some cheap-ish carbon forks direct from a Chinese re-seller via Ebay, and though they looked the part they flexed so badly the bloody things nearly killed me first ride out! After a lot of to and fro, the seller issued a full refund, but I wouldn’t buy any unbranded parts again, or those from outfits who didn’t have a good reputation. Any manufacturer can produce a faulty item, but at least with a recognised seller/brand, you’re (hopefully) less likely to have an issue.

Yes, if it wasn’t clear, really looking for suggestions for anyone who does accident, sickness, unemployment type insurance that anyone has used and has decent service/prices off – not hoping that anyone has had to claim of course!

Decathlon do them for the smaller rucksacks they sell – around £6 each. I have one that I use on my Camelback HAWG which holds on very well, without using the inbuilt clips, think they have their own Quecha (?) name on them.

Cheers z1ppy – the pics don’t work for me either (but I am on a work PC which might be the issue….) ;-)

One Ass Saver, 2 multi-tools and a saddle bag – getting all my bikes/bags sorted with tools and puncture repair kits etc, so whatever I grab, I’ve got stuff with me for emergencies! 4 bikes , 2 rucsacks, 2 saddle bags meant a lot of swapping things over which was a PITA….

Bought some cheap Chinese ones off fleabay… bloody things tried to kill me! All looked OK, but developed a huge wobble over around 18mph – have a video of them rocking backwards and forwards with the front brake on, but no way I’d waste my time trying to upload it – ended up buying a new F&F off Planet X in one the sales…

Can’t comment on the Lezyne, but the Garmin 25 I have has been spot on so far. Never had any issues with it, can do basic navigation too.

Garmin Edge 25 does it for me. It will also do a basic “breadcrumb” route for you to follow, small, light, decent battery life, links with Strava etc etc…. I paid about £75 I think?

Fun? Maybe not (although my view may be coloured as mine is also singlespeed) but it definitely makes you assess your lines more which has got to be a good thing. I’m running a 2.4 front tyre and just need to get it set up tubeless to run even lower pressures, which I’m hoping will help.

Rocket – swap air shaft on Yari to get 160mm rather than 150mm and fit rear mudhugger again.

Canyon – sort rear mech out, then try and keep it limping along until new Solaris Max frame turns up in (hopefully) December  :-)

Road bike – fit new 25mm tyres, sort saddle/stem positions so its’ something like comfortable, try and find some mudguards, and something else I’m sure I’ve forgotten…

Singlespeed frankenbike – lube chain maybe?

    Enough to keep me going…

Smart rear lights – last one I got from ebay from Parkers of Bolton – £6 posted, uses 2x AAA, cheap, bright, solid mounting bracket, batteries last ages, don’t seem to die in wet/mud – for the price can’t fault them!

Our normal loop is around 12-14 miles round Delamere, so that, plus however far you are from it! We do a road/off-road loop there and back, and if you add in the Delamere loop itself from south Warrington its’ around 40 miles for us.

Blimey, Delamere is getting a slagging off here! Just re-read my post, and whilst it may be a bit negative about the recent logging etc, I don’t read it as saying it wasn’t worth going. As jimxc said, it depends on your definition of “shite” but there’s plenty of good forest singletrack riding within a 15-20 minute drive of the OP – a bloody sight easier to access than some of the other spots, especially if you’re time poor!  If you want to get a few pointers there are plenty of local riders who could meet up and show you some of the routes, and if you go and just follow your nose you’ll find quite a few of them.

I’ve got one and to be honest I hardly use it because the editing software is a pile of sh**e – if anyone can recommend any reasonable editing software it might get used more.

I’m part of a group that rides out of south Warrington, and we used to go to Delamere quite a bit, but they have recently (within last 18 months) done quite a lot of felling, which cocked it up a bit. I went recently and found that most of the trails were OK – felling has moved on, trails have been opened up or cleared by the locals etc. You do have to do a lot of investigating to find the trails though – we only use the fire roads to link bits up. From Lymm its probably the nearest reasonable option, around 20 minutes drive? To be fair Macc Forest area is the far better option, but don’t discount Delamere – you just have to work to sort out a decent route tying all the bits together.

My “LBS” is actually a workshop only set-up, run by someone I ride with – he is always busy, but every time I go in there is always something in there that makes me wonder why someone is going to spend ridiculous amounts of money on repairing a BSO. I seem to remember him saying that one of his most common jobs is repairing punctures, so it goes to show what those guys have to deal with on a daily basis!

Have had a 45650B and currently have on PX road bike (both bought as frames) and happy with both, and would happily buy another frame/parts off them at some point but (and its’ a big but) the customer service has been fairly to totally appalling almost every time. If Brant can make a difference to that, he’ll be on to a winner, before he gets onto updating things like the Inbred/Scandal etc.

Am I just weird to say I’d love to have a go on it?

DezB really? I’ve got a MuckyNutz front on one bike and a Mudhugger front on the other and I know for definite that the Mudhugger is far more effective! Nothing will be perfect on an MTB, but in my experience the Muckynutz type lets far more crap past it

    martinkiely

Sorry, but Mudhugger (again) front and rear on both bikes – really don’t give a …. about what other people think, if it keeps just some of the crap off, I’m not bothered what the bike looks like!

To be honest, after a year and a bit (one winters’ riding, then summer where I’ve not needed it) I’d feel a bit cheeky complaining it didn’t work any more!

I’m using an 11-46 Sunrace cassette on my 29’er with a 34T Hope N/W at the front, and an SLX M7000 11 speed shifter – works fine for me
