Last time that happened to me, I rang up and complained and they told me to send the original one back for a refund and order a fresh one…

    @stuF

Considered a Soul as I have a Rocket 275 which I love, but let the decision be driven by the fact I had 29″ forks and wheels to transfer from a 29er full suss… should have bought the Soul really!

Not a small fortune, but (just to really upset some folks) a Longshot Cotic Solaris Max frame, built up with existing bits – use it plenty, just still feels like a bit of a barge and always slightly disappointing – too tight to get rid of it though, so will just persevere!

Just used Mantel for some Mavic spares – ordered on Wednesday from Holland, arrived UK Friday – nobody in the UK had one of the items anyway, but they were cheaper than UK sites for the ones I could get here – will definitely use again

@eskay – I just turn them round and hang them on the heels! Fortunately I have more than one pair of shoes so can swap if needs be

Hunt seem to be the wheel of choice at the moment? Pal of mine has a set (admittedly disc wheels on his gravel bike) and he rates them highly

Thanks all – first time with road type hydraulics, and just concerned there might be some nasty surprise!

Great thanks, so just a case of swapping over at the calipers then, which (should) be easy enough – or could just throw at the LBS and get them to fit them

Molgrips – if its’ 1 x 10 stuff you’re after I have a Zee mech and shifter going spare that I just haven’t got round to putting on ebay yet? PM if its’ any use :-)

Cheers jameso – ideally wanting just to put a freehub in to keep them going until I can afford a decent wheelset, so will see what I can come up with – thanks for the super quick answer!

Morning all, I think I’ve gone blind trawling this lot, so can anyone help with a hub question? I have a 2015 Arkose which has gloss black Joytech (?) cup and cone hubs, with as far as I can see, no identifying marks. The freehub has gone on the rear – any pointers on to replacement? Evans used to stock some, but no longer offer one. I can always just get a Deore hub to replace it, but would rather not rebuild the wheel if I can avoid it – though it might give me a excuse to try my hand a wheel building. The bike was bought second hand and had done very few miles before I got it, but think what little grease was in the rear hub and probably the freehub got washed out going through the floods in Cheshire recently!

Not a patch on some of the other pics, but:

I use an electric wall mounted one that will accept two pairs of shoes – basically loops (filled with oil presumably?) that get very gently warm and will dry a wet pair of shoes overnight from my experience – lives in the garage, so when I get back in from a ride, I just stick the shoes straight on it – similar to this one: <span style=”font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’,’Helvetica’,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; font-size: small;”>https://www.amazon.co.uk/HOMCOM-Wall-mounted-Electric-Deodorizer-Sterilizer/dp/B01M2Z9LJS/ref=sr_1_52_sspa?keywords=BOOT+DRYER&qid=1575290457&sr=8-52-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExS1dFQkw5NUxOQThUJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjc5NzI5MTYyNlMwR082NDRYMSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjE4NjUzMVRISk1IMlYzNlJERCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0Zl9uZXh0JmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==</span>

Hmm – keep doing the same Tuesday night/most Saturday morning rides I do all year either on the MTB or the gravel bike, try and sneak the odd roadie ride in on decent days, but going to dig out the turbo to try and get some structured training in as I’ve agreed to a roadie Alps trip in September to do Alp D’Huez etc, so need to get my arse in gear! Not fat either but could do with losing a few kilos and working on my core – when I put it like that, I think I’ve got my work cut out for me…

I’ve got 2 – a 150mm and a 170mm – zero issues with either (they’re both the newer remotes) apart from having to replace a remote due to crash damage – so definitely not the posts’ fault!

Stans, Tesa etc are all a PITA on normal width (ie probably sub 30mm internal) rims in my opinion – just too inflexible and never sticky enough. Gorilla Tape every time for me, until I stupidly decide to give the “proper” tape another go… Way easier to install and easy enough to clean the rims afterwards if needed. Generally cheaper too!

Following (obviously too closely) a pal when out on our gravel bikes on a steep wet road, when he suddenly realised he had missed a right hand turn, so slammed on and turned right into my path – nowhere to go except into him, then hit the deck hard. I think he apologised, but I probably missed it with the ringing in my ears…. Big hole in my jacket, baselayer and elbow and plenty of bruises – falling off on tarmac is a lot more unforgiving than off road – who said MTB’s are dangerous? ;-)

I know I can just buy fresh battery packs, but knowing how to do them myself would be a good skill to have, and surely the cheapo batteries the Chinese use will be the limiting factor – also, stops me just buying more stuff! Recycling and all that….

I wish I knew something about this sort of stuff – if only to make fresh battery packs for the Chinese lights I’ve bought where the batteries have died and then I’m just left with a head unit!

I’ve sold used stuff on ebay and it has ended up going for more than people could buy it new – but that’s their fault not mine. Asking for recommendations for private sellers rather than shops is very hit and miss – people are either traders or not, and if its’ the latter then your idea of value may differ with someone elses, so you may well end up feeling hard done to!

Glad in a lot of ways I don’t commute by bike (too far, too early) but as a car commuter that sets off for work at 6.30am it beggars belief the number of people on bikes I see with no lights at all – I am very aware of looking for bikes, but the guy this morning with no lights , dressed in black and wearing full ear covering headphones took some beating…

Similar to the above, and I have one of the electric 4 arm shoe warmer things – only gentle heat, so put wet shoes on there and leave overnight – lovely the next day! Got really fed up with wet newspaper everywhere. Fortunate to have a garage (unheated though) to strip worst stuff off in first, then rinse and wash. At some point I’ll get a new washing machine and move the existing one in the garage so I have an easier life! Mudhuggers and Crud Catchers all round on the MTBs and guards on the Gravel bike to keep it to a minimum, and to be fair they stay on pretty much all year round.

    One of these from Decathlon:

    <span style=”font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’,’Helvetica’,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; font-size: small;”>https://www.decathlon.co.uk/100-bike-frame-bag-black-15l-id_8354453.html</span>

Frame bag, multiple mounting options, will fit tools, a pump, tubes, phone etc. and all for £8!

I’m with the comment above, and also use an Exposure Joystick (bloody awful name though) – great light and good enough to use on its’ own if you want

Mine is in Cosmic Black – the best colour… Find mine climbs really well TBH, but they are loooooong…Goes downhill like a demon, but mine definitely needs better forks than the 120mm Rebas it currently sports to do it justice. Will also get some wider boost wheels when I change the forks to give me more options on tyres – currently running 2.4/2.3’s on non-boost wheels. It has definitely become my “go-to” bike though – very happy so far

I’ve got the S/M and they’re too small, so will be going back – and to add (literally!) insult to injury, had an off at the weekend and buggered up a shin, just where the protection would have been….

Mudhugger +5…. just did the Trans Cambrian over the foulest 3 days I’ve ever ridden in and that was the one thing that kept me able to keep riding without destroying most of my riding kit in around an hour! About 6 of the 14 of us had them, the rest were either riding with other guards or no guards – we were by far and away the best protected

Threw my last roll of Tesa tape in the bin… back to Gorilla tape and straight up no probs. It may leave a sticky residue when you have to replace it, but far better than tape that just won’t go into a rim bed. Maybe I’m just rubbish at it, but the Tesa type tapes don’t seem to like my Hope enduro rims?

£40 for a T-shirt? I know a lot of roadies don’t do their own maintenance, but that’s a lot of cost to pass on to customers who need a well dressed mechanic…;-)

Cheers OP, pair ordered here – worth a punt at that price. Re sizing, from what I can see it is thigh, measured 100mm down from top of leg
