My experience matches timbur’s. I love my H but couldn’t get on with the loop. Sold the loop a while ago.

Its true when I use mine.

Induction all the way, just don’t be sidetracked by things like ceramic electric hobs which look similar but are as slow as a slow thing

13 weeks since breaking one arm and shattering the other wrist. Two gentle rides managed so far. Still a way to go until recovered

Geometry of the 829 is remarkably similar to the much loved Canfield Yelli Screamy. Whyte’s only mistake was to build I up with a 100mm fork. Something they rectified for 2013 with the 929.

Either will be fine. You’re there to have fun so take the one you have the most fun with.

I’m guessing the LTc rides a lot like my Tracer 29 but lighter and stiffer. The lighter part will make it a much better, all be it more expensive, all round trail bike.

If I could find anywhere stocking the Easton Haven rear axle kits I’d snap up the cheap Havens at CRC. A perfect match. The front is easily upgradable to 15mm thru too.

Seems like ever f***er has got one these days, might have to sell mine. Not niche enough anymore. Wouldn’t be so bad if I could actually get out and ride the darn thing

Don’t forget the TransAM 29, pretty short cs, and singlespeed ready

Agree with roady_tony on the helmets. Definitely some discontinuity there. Also, stapling wounds is already outdated so why are they still doing it in 2093 unless purely for the “ugh” effect?

Also, how did the tentacle thing grow so big in a sealed room with no food?

Overall, good but not great. 2D would have been fine.

Like many others I only knew Nick through his blog and am very sad to hear this news.

I went through a similar process and came down to the LX5 or S95. For me the superior video of the LX5 was the deciding factor. Both great cameras

Thanks for the kind words. I believe there was a debate about Frimley or Royal Berks. Royal Berks won as can be seen on Strava

Food was much better than expected

I posted this to the other thread on the subject but shall repeat it here:

Just back online, ’twas me. Overcooked the tabletop and landed hard. Out cold for two minutes and can’t remember the crash, the period waiting for the ambulance or 1hrs riding previous to it.

End result 6 nights in hospital. Dislocated one wrist, broke the other into many pieces. Broke the radius in the arm with the dislocated wrist. Plates in both arms, plus a pin and screw in the right one. I’ll be off the bike for a while. Special thanks to my riding buddies who stayed with me while waiting for the ambulance during which I am told a kept asking the year, month and where I was

Canfield Yelli Screamy. Just don’t tell anyone it’s a 29er cos it doesn’t ride like one

The Gully was running remarkably well this evening. Most of the trails had puddles but not much mud yet. As said above the orange stuff can get quite slippery when wet. Deerstalker etc are super quick now they’ve firmed up a bit

Carbon seat post & lighter saddle. Not cheap for the amount you’ll save but if you’re out to save regardless of the cost then it’s not a problem

Nice Yelli Gotama. Did the demo day make your mind up or did you just go for it? Must try to make it over to Peaslake again soon

Does it have clearance for 2.4 tyre in the back? To Chunkypaul’s Fox 140 I’d add some wider handlebars.

Yes, been running mine for about nine months. Lovely fork but can take a while to get dialled in.

Haven’t ridden a 29er with that sort of head angle for quite a while and don’t plan to. Yes they steer quick, but for me it’s too quick, too twitchy.

Canfield Brothers Yelli Screamy is sweet.

Been running mine with 120mm for a while and a 120mm Paradox before that. just ordered the 140mm fork.

I took both last year but always wore the open face. I very nearly regretted it. Had a big off after clipping a stump and landed face first. Somehow managed to walk away with just light grazes. It could easily have been worse. Someone else hit the same stump and definitely looked to have come off worse.

This year I’ll be taking both but unless it’s very slow and muddy will probably go with the FF. I’m old and don’t heal quick anymore.

I noticed in a video of one of the Italian races many racers use both. Open with the FF on the backpack for the transitions and FF with the open on the backpack for the stages.
